In the distance some early birds could be heard singing, and Bion stretched. Just woken up to the first rays of light coming through the bushes he lay next to, he sat up. The small fire he had started yesterday evening was out, and only burnt wood and charcoal lay where it had burned.
He pulled off his shirt and lay it on a branch.
Bion had decided to stay here last evening, made a fire, caught some fish in the big pond... and ate them when he had baked them above the fire.
Walking to the edge of the water he kneeled down, he was barefoot and barechested, but still had his trousers on. The leather cracked a bit when he kneeled forward. Bion made a cup of his hands and scooped up water, and splashed it across his face. Washing off the sweat of his sleep. It had been a humid night, but he rather slept under the stars then find some sort of crouded inn where the rooms were even hotter then outside.
He washed himself further with the rather cool water. It at least cooled down his skin for a little while, until he had to get underway again. He guessed the pond was deep, if it was shallow overall the water would've been warmer.
Walking into the water a bit, he washed his feet, the cold water made his skin tingle and he almost shivered. For a few minutes he kept standing in the water like this. And decided what he would do today. Maybe he could fish some more? Get a proper breakfast, or he could travel on to the next town and buy a proper meal there. Fish was nice, but meat was even better. Maybe if he caught some extra fish, he could trade it.
