The thud of a falling body cast us dust, and the young Alphen heir grumbled to himself, pulling his body back up from the ground. His normally reddish-black pelt was now dusty hue'd, and, despite himself, he was amused. He was a wolf dusted with sugar; a sugar-dusted wolf. But, despite his amusement, he was parched; the tongue lolling out of his maw good-naturedly was dry, which did nothing for his mood. Cracked paws went on, though he knew he could have gone back home hours ago. Went home and what? Have to explain why he'd left in the first place? To tell the truth, he was scared to be out by himself, without protection. Extremely pale frigid-colored eyes scanned about, trying to find something, anything that looked familiar.

Hopeful, his mood brightened a bit when he saw a rock that looked like one he had seen twenty minutes ago. Oh, wait, there was a bird on the rock, making it a different shape. What if he looked in the other direction? Still hopeful, he looked around, starting when he saw something coming towards him, a dark blotch on the horizon. What that Rizurii, coming to find him? Oh good, oh good, oh, good. He had to admit, he wanted someone here with him... oh, man, he wanted to go home! But, as always, he was lost when he was by himself. Rizurii was coming, though!

Wait, no, that wasn't her. That was a bird. Stupid birds, always getting in the way. Well, Ethare wasn't too pleased with himself, either. He hadn't thought out the percentage that it would be her or someone else, even a bird. He didn't normally jump to conclusions like that. Next time, he would calm down and think. He was good at that. (Maybe the only thing he was good at.) He wasn't social, though he liked company, and to tell the sad truth, didn't have friends; Rizurii was the Alphess and Sunetar had left. Sheesh, he could've sworn he was the only sane one! But that wasn't fair... his older sister had many responsibilities and couldn't be expected to babysit her genious-yet-idiot younger brother all the time.

Well, what if he found someone else? Yeah, that'd work. But who? He wasn't the best at speaking his mind to others; he tried not to have an opinion, so he wouldn't offend anyone. That sucked. He had backed himself into a corner mentally and socially. Vowing to work on that, he sat down, eyes half-closed in boredom and heat.

I don't want to go there...But I have to...Something's calling my name there, and I have yet to return to Shinsei and the others. Yes...Stay here for a bit, then return. Wonder how much he'll love that.

Was she insane now, or just pondering over the choice? Neither, really. Insanity had yet to envelop her, but she could feel it leading her to the Battlefields. Why was it taking her there? She had no idea, but had a thought that something was there that her insane mind wanted and needed. Was it power? Death? Rule? Honour? Food? Whatever it was, it was still awaiting her.

Lithe paws kissed the sandy ground beneath her as she moved, her movements smooth as liquid and making hardly a sound, other than the soft click her unsheathed claws made on the ground. Auds twitched atop her grey crown, listening to all the beautiful sounds of nature, and the bush she called her tassle was held high and proudly, along with the rest of her body.

She wasn't a very healthy sight, but was that her problem? She chose not to eat a whole lot, and when her insanity took over, all she thought about was death and power; not food or drink or love. She loved her family, but she had naught a mind when it came to her switching over.

Her beautiful golden opts were now tinted with a fresh red, which wasn't very noticeable, but almost seemed to glow when her insanity took over. Oh how she loathed it. It was her insanity that gave her the title of murder. It was her insanity that had made her a ruler. It was her insanity that made her ill. It was her insanity that made her her.

A soft scent reached her ebon nostrils, and auds immediately folded back as opts glazed over, sweeping around for any sign of what she had caught scent of. It was another wolf, and young...

Kill it...NOW! Take the whelp by surprise, and end its life right then and there! No one will bother you for it. Kill it, take it home, and share it with your beloved family. At least you'll get food...Like that idea much?

A low growl formed in Grey's throat, but she let it pass naught. The idea was horrid, and she would do all it was in her to not listen to the insane voice in her mind. So, she took steps away from the pup, making sure she was still headed in her required destination, but hopefully far enough away from the poor whelp.

From the last topic River was on, about to return to DG

River approached the border of Deadly Glare, hoping to see Rizurii and the rest of the pack. But then something hit her. She began looking around suspiciously and moving erratically. Then something gnashed at her neck, drawing blood and sending the young wolf flying backwards, screaming. When she landed, she was on her side, wide-eyed, trembling as if having a seizure. But she wasn't. And nothing had really slashed her neck -- but it was a sign she took as what to come.

Still on her side, trembling, she whispered in an onimous voice. "GreyStarre"

---

River sprinted across the battlefields, trying to push all the memories of this land behind. She could see the blood that was long gone; the bones long buried; and the bodies already spirited away. But she couldn't. As she ran, she screamed psychotically. Anyone would think she was insane. But blaring the blood out of her ears was the easiest way to get to the other side of the battlefield -- where no blood had ever been spilt, as the wolves prefered the central parts better. But blood may be spilled today -- a friend of River's -- and she was there to get him out of it.

In the pale moonlight, she soon reached the lonely figure of Ethare Seibrem. Panting heavily -- her cries now muted, she ran up to him. "Cant look!" She said to Ethare in a semi-whisper. "Ethare we have to go!" but then she finally realized it with terror in her eyes. "It's too late ... she's here..."

Skittish! No, it wasn't a foreign language or a word Ethare though at the time; but when he scented another word, he became skittish. You know, the adjective? He didn't dare turn around, for fear of invoking the female's (he could tell that much) wrath. She also smelled of wolves around his age, though the scents were so confused he didn't know how many or of what genders. But she had come up behind him and that was enough to scare him out of his skin. Rizurii wasn't there to protect him! She--she could kill him and eat him for all he knew! (Little did he know how close his paranoid thought-ramblings were to the truth.)

She didn't say anything. Alright, that was okay. 'OH, GOD, SHE'S WALKING PAST ME! SHE'LL MURDER ME IN MY SLEEP!' And such were the deep thoughts of a genius. 'Wait...hold on... walking past? Alright, I can work with that. There's only, roughly, a 22 percent chance that she'll turn around...but that's not knowing her.' Taking in a figurative deep breath to steady himself, he turned his head, going to glance at the new femme, when an arctic-hue'd wolfess ran towards them.

"River?" He questioned to himself, soft voice regaling those closest to him. When she whispered they had to go, he blinked, ears flattening slightly in suprise. "Why?" he whispered back, slightly offended that someone was telling him what to do, "What? Who's here? That wolf?" With that, he jerked his head towards Grey, curious. "She didn't touch me."

Another wolf? Were they trying to get themselves hurt? Seemed like it. A soft snort escaped the mahogany femme's ebon nostrils, silver forehead and streaked sides glimmering in the moonlit night as crimson-tinted-amber opts gazed over at the ebon male. Well, he wasn't completely ebon; he had patches of crimson mixed in his pelt. What an odd colouration...

Beside the male stood a brightly-hue'd female, just like herself. They were much younger than herself, appearing about a year of age, and another snort escaped her nostrils.

See?! NOW'S YOUR CHANCE! TAKE THEM BOTH, NOW! If you don't, you'll be a disgrace to your family! Lips pulled back, exposing those canines of her's, and her opts glazed over once more, steps now turning and heading towards the two. She was heading towards them unwillingly. A low snarl escaped her jowls, a threatening one, and now all she saw in her opts was blood. All she thought about was blood.

"Aww, what a sight! Two lovebirds fluttering into the jowls of a hungered wolf! How enlightning..." The voice was not Grey's. Yes, it came from her throat and passed through her teeth, but it was manical-sounding. "Which of you would like to be killed first? How about this lovely female of your's, hmn?" she inquired, her snarl remaining o her lips as she gazed solely on the male.

Some Hearts

"Paws off my brother!" a young voice, ironically, bellowed over the field towards the three wolves... The owner of this voice knew all of them... Two were her kin and the third was a close friend... "Away from the Glarians, Windflare!" the voice rebuked of the older, and more likely than not stronger Alphess whose hues opposited the speaker.

Rizurii Seibrem paraded proudly towards the potentially dangerous situation... She held her ears and tail high, this time hiding her puppy-like qualities that gave away her age and maturity in normal situations... She was growing up. Her lips were drawn back into a snarl, threatening her older sister away from her subordinates...

In seconds, the yearling Alphess had placed herself between Grey Starre and the company of Ethare and River. What are they doing out here anyway? Thoughts of the odd actions quickly soared through her mind before vanishing in a fog, turning her attention back to the threat before her.

"If you are hungry," Rizurii said in a soothing, sarcastic manner, "I suggest looking elsewhere for a meal fit for your most 'insatiable' appetite..." Mostly, the language was to confuse the silvery wolfess, but it was true, she could see that Grey Starre did not have an "insatiable" appetite... She appeared to eat enough only to be alive...

River turned as the very menacing GreyStarre WindFlare approached she and Ethare. "Could have gone...." she said in a trembling voice. Her eyes were full of fear; everything was overwhelming at this moment. She tried to breathe slowly but couldn't. Ethare and her were probabaly equals against this large iviore female - they outnumbered her, but she was older with more experience.

River disturbingly giggled when Grey talked about she and Ethare being lovebirds trying to get themselves killed. She stared right into Grey's eyes - not with menace, nor little fear, as her eyes bore'd back even more powerful. Then River shouted, "Your eyes may try to kill me, but they aren't blue!" she laughed again, louder, then backed up into Ethare, saying in a concerned voice, "Two by two, eyes of blue... two by two"

River backed up against a stone, sitting down and looking towards the dirt. "Two by two ... eyes of blue ..." She stared in horror as Rizurii showed up. She didn't want Rizurii or Ethare to get hurt; she tried to concentrate, but if anything happened, she would surely run.

Kelai had followed Rizurii out to the battlefields -- where they suspected trouble was brewing. There they found Ethare, Grey, and -- River! in a confrontation. Ryden was no where to be seen. Knowing 'Nara's mothering instinct and how she was like a mother to River, Kelai knew Inara would be quick to comfort the pup, who was mumbling incoherant speech. Meanwhile, Kelai watched from a long distance away as Rizurii told GreyStarre to stand down.

Kelai knew Grey -- or rather, the knew evil Grey -- would not back down easily. Kelai was behind her from a distance -- and yet did not see her. As Grey stood menacingly, Kelai rose her voice, the moonlight pelting down on her grey fur. "GreyStarre, stand down!" she commanded harshly. "You're clearly outnumbered. There's no need for this. And if you do attack one of us, violence WILL ensue." she said as she sided up to Rizurii.

She then realized that logic wasn't the best way to deal with the 'new' Grey. She circled around to Grey's front, between Rizurii and Ethare. "Like I said, this is unnessacary. So go run your little world."

Inara Serra followed Kelai and Rizurii down to the battlefield, where Inara sensed it was a place of horror. The moonlight shone down illuminating her fur as the followed the dark brown and grey wolf on a lonely path. Inara scented wolves ahead -- Ethare, River, and someone she didn't know.

As the caravan pulled closer, Inara saw it was a savage-looking Arctic Wolf that looked like it hadn't eaten for days -- and were planning Ethare and River as the next meal. River was cowering by a stone, hidden in its shadow; while Rizurii and Kelai appoached the wolf, Inara saw to River.

Inara wrapped her body around River as Kelai and Rizurii spoke to the wolf -- which she learned was Grey Starre, an ex-Deadly Glare member and adopted daughter of Flame and Vash. Who killed Tear. And many others. She decided to take River out of here to safe refuge -- not into the territory, that was too far in case the pack needed help; but maybe to the packless dens.

Inara whispered to River. "River, sweetie, we have to go now. We have to get out of here." she silently nudged the yearling along, heading towards their destination as well as keeping a sharp eye on the situation as they faded out of the picture.

Auds twitched almost boredly as a voice found its way to their sensitive inner-auds quite easily, and opts twitched to the ebon femme that had proudly presented herself onto the scene. This wolf she knew very well, and she seemed to be in relation to the ebon male before her. Huh...Were they related? How lovely.

"I would like to see you try and get me away from the "Glarians", as you call them, you runt of an Alpha Female!" Grey spat at the young ruler, a sharp snap making her teeth clang together with a nasty sound as the threat was made to the ebon femme. She would do well to stay away and leave Grey be.

Opts gazed boredly at the yearling as she spoke again, auds noting the sudden change of tone, and Grey truly found this amusing. "I find this meal fit enough for me, thank you," the snowy female said back, tone cold and sarcastic as well.

Opts only glanced at the other snowed femme, and confusion brightened those opts of her's. What was the crazy girl talking about? Grey had no blue opts...However, the three before her did, and that made her even more confused. Oi, best to just leave it be, she supposed. However, as soon as that was dropped, another voice came booming into the lands, and Grey scowled.

"What did you do, you misfit-Seibrem? Bring the whole pack?" Grey spat at the yearling Alpha once again before her gaze fluttered over to the multi-hue'd she-wolf she'd known most of her life. Well, that fact wasn't going to help now, if that's what the she-wolf presumed. Listening to the words of the newly-arrived femme, Grey sighed.

"Why must everyone assume I meant to harm any of you?" Grey asked them, purposely never gazing at the two pups she had threatened to kill and feast upon. "Besides, I called naught for a fight. Thus, no such "violence" will ensue," Grey added as a sarcasticly-reassuring statement, a faux grin slapped across her slender grey maw. It looked almost insane on the femme.

Then yet another femme came, but she spoke only to the mahogany femme that had been the ebon mascu's companion. Ah well. Let her leave. Grey still had these others to deal with. So, slouching her forehaunches a bit before shaking her pelt, Grey allowed her auds to twitch annoyingly, her tassle doing the same behind her, and her gaze fell back on Kelai and Rizurii once more.

"Now, shall we continue our little party, children?" she asked them, a manical laugh escaping her jowls afterward. It wasn't loud, nor did it rang throughout the lands; it was simple and actually soft and quiet, like she was laughing to herself.

Some Hearts

Drawing back her lips into a snarl, now that Inara and River had gone for safety, Rizurii had only to evacuate Ethare, Kelai, and herself from this situation. "We have no quary with you, exempting you threaten your own kin whom has done naught to you! Step back and allow our brother leave of this place." She felt more comforted with Kelai's presence as they stood there, staring down her older sister... Even though Grey Starre looked malnourished and weak, Rizurii knew that she was experianced enough to be more than a match for two-thirds of the Flame's last litter. Kelai did up their chances, but still slim they were.

"My pack is loyal and the ladies whom accompanied me here saw fit to travel thusly." Rizurii took a step closer to Grey Starre, a little confused by the tonal changes the elder wolf experianced, but none-the-less, she felt exhibiting a bit of confident authority can often be enough to stare down many an opponent. It was also no lie that the Glarians were very loyal to their leader. For this, the Longfang-Seibrem line is proud... Many leaders descended from it.

"What's it going to be, M'Lady of the Deserts?"

The younger wolf gaped, flattening his ears, frightened. What was going on? He didn't want to be eaten! Ethare's breathing was regulated, and he began to calm quickly as he heard his older sister take charge. Good, he would be alright... now, all that he had to do was make his escape. Rizurii would be able to hold of the ebony wolfess for at least a while, and he would be no good in a fight (or, at least, so he thought). Shifting from paw to paw in nervous anticipation, his father's blue eyes flicked over to his sister, then back to the older femme--the white one. He was hardly listening as he heard Rizurii address the other as "M'Lady of the Deserts"l he was much to busy scoping out the best escape route. Kelai was a warrior, and Rizurii seemed to take after their most formidable mother. Although he was the sole male, and, in some cases, would be looked to to be their protector, he was the younger; not to mention, he was cowardly. A sad, but true (at the moment, anyway) fact. Nothing he could do about that.

With a silent, almost pleading, glance to his elder sister of apology, he began to back up, tail curled between his hindlegs as he moved. Try...to be as inconspicious as possible... good, good. You do that, Ethare. He backed up even further behing Rizurii, before turning and beginning to walk away from them. Who would attack someone from behind? Not to mention, he trusted his Alphess to keep him safe. As long as he was with her, she would let no harm befall him. That was what she did, right? Protect her siblings? They were all each other had. And, because of that, Rizurii had his undying loyalty and brotherly love.

He glanced back, Seibrem hue'd eyes narrowed as he surveyed what was taking place. This was why he shouldn't have left in the first place. Never. Leave. The packlands. Ever. It was more trouble than it was worth. Despite himself, his breathing began to quicken as he got further from the trio. Things might be getting dangerous, and he wanted nothing to do with it. Maybe, if he ignored it, it would all go away.
