cats dwell, no longer having to fear twolegs, monsters, or thunderpaths again. But will the peace last? The four clans of Thunder, River, Wind, and Shadow have been in these lands for a long time, and only one is still alive who has made the journey from their old forest to this new one, the old and almost-gone-to-starclan elder, Birchfur. He has passed on the stories of the old forest, the journey of the six choosen cats, and the journey of the clans, or, as it is now called, The Great Passage. Soon, the responsibilty will fall to the younger cats who have heard the tales from him, for he is on his deathbed. This is it. Silverstar thought as she jumped up onto high rock. Earlier, the clan deputy, Cloudstorm, had told Silverstar he was going to go to the elders den. He had served her for many moons. Now it was time she picked another deputy. And she had the perfect choice. Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey join here beneath high rock for a clan meeting.

Stormfeather joined the bunch of cats who were starting to mill around at the leader's call. I wonder who she's going to choose? Cloudstorm was an amazing warrior. It'll be hard to fill his place. He thought to himself as he sat down to wait.

As most of you know, Cloudstorm is retiring from his position as deputy to join the elders. She took a breath before continuing. He has served this clan well for many moons, and I thank him for all his hard work. She took a small pause.

Stormfeather could feel the tension growing in the clan. A few of Cloudstorm's closest friends murmured a few words of of memories of his deeds before becoming silent again.

Silverstar let the whispering continue for a moment before she started to speak again. Cats of Windclan, now I shall name Windclan's new deputy. I say these words before Starclan, that the spirits of our ancestors may hear and approve my choice. Stormfeather will be the new deputy of Windclan.

Stormfeather did a double take. Him? Deputy? For a moment, he was speechless. I...Thank you, Silverstar...It's a great honour. I'll try not to let you down. He said, mainly to his leader rather than the clan as he began to hear cheers of approval. He sat up taller and looked around, having never realized how ,much all the others seemed to like him.

Silverstar let out a purr of amusement. I know you will stormfeather. She jumped off the highrock to show the clan meeting was at an end.
