‘GET YOUR ARSE BACK TO CLASS.’

Merldot was hit by the thought like it was a stone. Turning, his hair flicking out around him he searched the area as well as he could, surprised. he made his way back toward the class suspiciously. It wasn't every day you got a mental message like that. Now slightly paranoid Merldot felt it might be best to freeze and black out the school. Drawing as much electricity as he could out of the grid Merl pumped it back into the lines at one point, completely vaporising the metal and cutting power to the school. With immense effort he unleashed a stasis field upon the school, putting so much power into it that it was visible with the naked eye.

'This is odd, could he actually be magical? No, he froze, and a demon would have tried to kill me by now.'

Merldot reached the blackened classroom and laughed at the surprised looks on his classmates faces. Entering he approached the teacher, oblivious to Darcy, and grabbed him by the shoulder, throwing him out the door in his frozen state, releasing him from the magical freeze "We need to talk, right now, you and me, you're going to tell me something. How the hell could I hear you, in my head, from half the school away? What are you?"

Cowan got himself up from the ground, where he had been thrown.

'What had happened?' He could collect that he had been thrown out of the room, and that school seemed strangely quite. He looked around, looking at the school children who were out of class. Why are they not moving? he thought.

Why is this kid asking so many questions? He must have done this to the school. Cowan ignored the student for a little longer with his attention cast back to the students he observed before. Not a thought to be heard for a short distance, expect this student's.

'Maybe you are just hearing voices.'

Darcy moved to the back of the class in silence. Pulling out a book she opened it to a blank page and put her elbows down on the page, cupping her face in her hands she listened to the lesson for a few moments before the sound of the teachers voice suddenly stopped. There was a squeal and several gasps, her eyes opened. Darkness. It wasn't fully dark as light was leaking in from under the blinds, but the fluorecent bulbs above the class were dead.

The squeal stopped suddenly, like someone had flicked a switch, and the subtle movements of a restless class ceased. Her head raised slowly and she looked around at the frozen class, searching for a tousle haired boy who could explain. Nothing. She swept the class with her eyes again. Still no Merldot. She sat up straight and pushed her chair back. Her feet pushed against the floor and she was half standing when Merldot stormed through the door and shoved a dummy-like Mr Wilson out the door and into the corridor.

"Uh-oh"

A few choice words flew through Darcy's head in the time it took for her to get from the back of the class to the door and she emerged behind a rumpled looking substitute teacher. Merldot was glaring at the teacher and looking like he was about to zap him like he'd never been zapped before. Merldot cranky. Never a good sign. Ever. She cleared her throat quietly.

"Merl, what's going on? Can I... talk to you for a second?"

Merldot was very sick of being ignored, it bugged him greatly and he wasn't sure if the man before him fully comprehended what he was getting into. Positively fuming MDG almost killed Darcy when she spoke, hand extended, only just pulling back the magic, his palm sending ripples of electricity across his hand. She really was hard to get rid of. But they had bigger fish to fry, and with any luck she'd be dead by demon attack by friday, seriously, what could she do against them?

'Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if she was dead, I mean really, she'd stop stalking me then. You put way to much trust in logic. Shut up. How about I don't. Sure I'll just stand here having a childish argument with myself. You do that!'

Merldot turned back to the bemused teacher and resisted the urge to punch him repeatedly in the face. "Look here mate, I know you're something, but I don't know what, you'd better watch yourself." Merldot refroze the teacher and turned to the annoying girl he was beginning to loathe. "Go back to your seat now, no arguments, nothing, just go." Merldot again grabbed the frozen teacher and dragged him back inside, freezing him in a position almost guaranteed to make him fall down. He then sat back into his seat and adopted a shocked expression before letting the school return to normal.

'I'm going to have to talk to Matt about this aren't I. Most likely, he'd probably like to know. Shush, if he can send, he can probably receive.'

Cowan fell to the ground, as if he tripped by thin-air. Bewildered and amazed he got up quickly. It took him a quick second to realise he had been moved again, back to the classroom. What is this kid? May need to ask.

'Ouch. That was clumsy of me.' He played along with the joke. 'Settle down students. The lights will be back shortly and we still have sun light.' A light smile graced him lips, hiding the wrath and confusion he felt. It wasn't a dream, reassuring himself.

'I wonder if you could live with killing her? You seem to be in conflict with yourself.' He spoke to the student, Merldot. 'You know that I am something...' He hesitated, and stopped himself from sending the last few words. They didn't matter. To himself, he noted, Matthew?

Merldot smiled evilly as the teacher fell to the ground, and, much to his disappointment, stood back up. The now laughing class settled back to their trivial tasks at his word and MDG struggled to stop himself laughing as well. Obviously this man was not magical in the sense Merl was used to. He was something more, or less, either way he wasn't a witch, because he froze, and he wasn't a demon, because no one was dead.

'What an interesting turn of events.'

Suddenly the teacher's voice was back inside his head. 'I wonder if you could live with killing her? You seem to be in conflict with yourself.' Merldot almost fell off his seat in surprise, suppressing a shocked gasp and flat out refusing to twitch, however it didn't stop his body begin turning to black, absorbing the light. The worst of it was he had no idea how to reverse it.

'Psychic huh? I'm not impressed personally; now, kindly remove yourself from my head. And, for the record, given a week of that thick tart following your every step, sending you loving messages and having to play along for a greater purpose, you wouldn't need to ask if I could live with it.'

Merldot adopted a relaxed pose, juxtaposing his internal situation. If the guy could read his mind, then he knew about Matt, which meant he had to find the young empath first, no matter what, or it was bye bye bank heist, bye bye life of peace and hello fighting demons for the rest of his life.

Another note that Cowan made, This Merldot worries too much. On the inside he smiled as it was something he was better known for with his friends. I wonder how long we have in this lesson? It already seems it has been a while.

Cowan continued onto the lesson on introductory geology. He didn't need lights or power to teach. Though, he did hope that nothing odd would happen for the rest of the day. On a personal level, it did worry him he was this calm. Especially when he considered what had already happened.

After all the time hiding, the meeting he had with Annabelle may have been a chance to ask some questions. She was considerably knowable in topics beyond what is typically taught in universities. He may need to make another meeting, some how.

His heart was lifted a little, Annabelle means grace and beauty. Cowan may have been in shock, he was becoming distracted from the lesson plan.

'Any questions?'

'Any questions?'

Merldot was shaken from his busy non-thought, keeping his mind as blank as possible by filling it with white noise and random tunes. However, given they were studying rocks, and science didn't separate into separate fields until year eleven he felt he could ask a question involving a small amount of physics, or a large amount. "What happens to lightning, and electricity in general when it's grounded, does it convert to heat or other forms of energy or what?"

'What like what? Like go to a magical reserve, cos if I can tap that... Psychic, remember."

Merldot was showing interest in the class for the first time that lesson, and as they had managed to go two periods without a demon attack or completely fake gas leak he felt rather confident in the day, add to that it was a very nice break in the monotony of having to freeze the school once or twice a period, which completely threw off the bell. More likely than not the lack of freezing would screw up mulwaree’s clock, but you never know your luck. The previous bits of fun and violence barely counted, given that they had lasted a minute or two each, rather than half an hour.

'It's actually been really boring, but for this guy.'

[ooc: I have made an edit. I came to the conclusion that it may have be needed to keep the thread moving.]

This has been an interesting lesson. This is the second student who seems to have a belief in the supernatural, beyond what is possible with natural evolution. Either it is some type of game or I am in shock. What has already happened today?

'The energy within lighting is simply converted; translated, or transferred. The net charges that result from the strike are dissipated. And, in terms of geology. Some areas can attract more strikes, on average, simply because of the rocks types that lay underneath.' Cowan, confused, accepted he did not have the knowledge to rationalise some of the things that he had heard or experienced while at this school.

It would have to be some type of game, Cowan thought. He allowed himself to forget most of what happened so he could rationalise it as some type of daydream.

Distracted by his watch, Cowan started to count down the minutes left in the lesson. This would be the last lesson he would have to cover, today. Unless some other teacher decided to get sick or injured, he would be free. Not literally, since he is paid for a full day, he is required to stay and complete his assigned tasks; marking, lesson plans, and a report on the class for their teacher.

Merldot sighed, froze the room, stood, and left. It was no longer worth his being there. He made a point of charging everyone with enough static to give them a good jolt before turning the handle and exiting. He closed the door, got out of range and unfroze the class as the bell went. They were too stupid to notice the slight delay anyway. No one had noticed his lack of uniform either, possibly too preoccupied by their own stupidity. He went back to the wall and returned to his game, cars were so much fun.

(ooc: Gone - *Nsync)

Cowan had noticed the troubled student left, again, as the bell rang. The places he sat were left absent, void of any brain signal. It almost filled him with a type of grief, that a student would so willingly neglect their education. He looked down to the floor momentarily as a urge built up within him. He could hear a light guitar and the students in their seats began to move side to side, in a swaying motion.

"There's a thousand words that I could say To make you come home. Oh, seems so long ago, you walked away. Left me alone. I remember what you said to me.. " Cowan could not stop this urge, whatever it was, it could not be contained.

''You were acting so strange and maybe I was too blind to see That you needed a change." He threw the objects within his hands to the floor. The students in the class stood up as he began to sing a chorus.

"Was it something I said, To make you turn away? To make you walk out and leave me cold. If I could just find a way To make it so that you were right here But right now.." the students sang as Cowan sent the words telepathically to the student, Merldot.

"I've been sitting here ... I've tried my best to be a man and be strong ... But the truth remains ... You're gone" the students within the class just hummed as he continued to send word telepathically to the youth.

Suddenly the lights went out and the windows shattered, each piece of glass moved in slow motion. The urge to sing evolved into a slow dance movement.

"I don't wanna make excuses... " He placed his hand on his heart, as if in pain. "... But if there's something that I could do Won't you please let me know? Time is passing so slowly now..." removed his hand from his chest and threw it to his side as his head fell down to his chest.

"But the truth remains ... You're gone." the music died back the same way it had faded in, without warning or indication of origin. The objects he held were back in his hands, the students in their chairs, windows back in place, and a confused expression on his face. Had he not been well rested, he may have mistaken that for a day-dream of some kind.

The students within the classroom left as they pleased, it was recess.
