Name: Cowan Wilson Age: 24 DOB: 4th July 1980 Sex: Male Gender: Man Species: Human - Psychic
Background The only child of Patricia and Morris Wilson, middle-class suburbanites. Though they felt they loved Cowan, he was often ignored in favour of friends and entertainment. This, coupled with being an only child, left Cowan severally isolated from the world, and others, at an early age. This was not apparent until he started school.
On his first day in Primary School, it was already noted by teachers that Cowan had preferred not to interact with the other children. It may have been assumed he was simply shy. While the attempts to socialise him had some success he had always managed to find a lot of time to himself. This was when he started to sort though the mass confusion that sometimes flooded his brain.
At the age of 9, Cowan returned home from a Fair Day at a local church to find that his mother had committed suicide. While police records are not clear as to what happened on the 4th March 1990, it was believed that she could not take the grief of losing her husband. Morris Wilson was believed to have been secretly seeing a co-worker for 8 months when, somehow, Patricia discovered the affair and questioned him in an argument. Cowan did not allow himself to record what he heard from that point onward.
Shortly after his mother’s death, he was sent to live with his Grandmother in Canberra. In school he found assistance within his abilities. But, he never wanted to become secretly dumb and outwardly smart. It was settled by the time he entered High School that he would first analyse and assess the information he heard until he learned better control and was able to block out all voices. This actually allowed him to better himself and did graduate from High School with Dukes.
Cowan was enrolled into the University of Wollongong within the Advanced Bachelor of Science course. He would later graduate with Honours and a major in Chemistry. He entered the Graduate diploma of Education program after being forced to drop his PhD project after a freak accident.
Power Cowan is a natural telepath. The main difference between magical and natural (physical) telepaths is that his brain is sensitive to the signals of the people around him, while a witch would use the magic to connect between themselves and others.
Cowan is skilled enough that he is able to isolate specific signals and effectively read them. He is also able to send signals to those that are not normally sensitive. Given the short comings, sending does require more skill and attention. Young physical psychics with lack of control have been known to have killed the forced receiver, some people surrounding, and sometimes themselves in a failed attempt or by trying to overdrive the thoughts of another.
Without complete isolation from living, thinking, creatures it is near impossible to stop receiving. However, as Cowan discovered after meeting another physical telepath in University, it is it possible to drown out the signals in a localised area so that another physical telepath cannot read individual signals.
Romantic Cowan had suffered from a series of unsuccessful relationships that spread from the beginning of Year11 to the end of his Bachelor course. However, there was one relationship that developed just before beginning his PhD that was notably different from the rest. Despite the obviously short comings, a lack of physical attraction, the relationship did develop quite fast and was very close. The relationship was doomed to end in a tragic accident and Cowan soon left the PhD course to run into teaching.
Professional When his aspirations to become a Research Academic were almost completely ruined Cowan ran into a Diploma of Education as an alternative career course. He is currently a substitute teacher within the Educational district to which Goulburn belongs and will be able to commence full-time teaching when a position is made available in the area.
Personality Cowan would describe himself as being only outwardly shy. To himself, he is quite playful and childish. However, as a result of his intelligent, he is often seen as cold and self-isolating. He enjoys to work-out, read, and has an interest in crystallography, as well as in Chemistry. Cowan does express an interest in crystology, but over the years he has learned to keep any interest within the metaphysical (or paranormal) well covered or quenched.
Sample RP Cowan walked to the board and wrote his name, Mr Cowan. This was not the first class that he has taught as a sub and he may actually know of some its students. But, it was always a habit, a clearing of the waters. Since a young age Cowan rarely associated himself with his last name, which continued onto his career where he prefered to be called "Mr Cowan."
He had a quick scan of the room. 'That is an odd thought,' he said to himself 'apparently I have a great back...' He had a quick laugh, he is going to love this class.
The Year 10 language class was assigned the tasks set by the absent teacher. They were simple and did not require much assistance. 'Day care for ages 15, and plus.' Cowan had nothing else to do on a chilly Monday morning.
