JAN. 25 Everyone welcome CUG's newest addition to the admin team: Bee! (/Brooke)

JAN. 19 The activity check that's been posted forever and a day in the news area is finally coming down this weekend. For serious. So if you haven't posted, do so now. Additionally, any accounts over two weeks old that haven't posted an application will be deleted.

JAN. 3 After a computer problem related hiatus, admin Tara is back in black iMac. Also, we are holding an activity check, so don't miss posting in that. Also also, there's a new trailer, so click that nifty little play button up there and check it out!

DEC. 9 Just over a week of being operational and we already have 53 members! Thanks a ton to all you loyal lurkers who came back and just as much thanks for you new faces. CUG fucking loves you all. Keep your eyes locked on this news feed this weekend, we have a contest and a special OOC game coming ASAP.

DEC. 6 MAY I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE! For the time being, we request that you DO NOT make any more characters that are mechanics.

NOV. 30 It's official, CUG V4.0 is ready for business. As soon as the 1st rolls around (probably midnight tonight) we'll be open. It's a soft opening, so that means no real official advertising yet. But you're more than welcome to pimp us out to friends and sites you're on. The grand opening will be in a day or two.

STARVING SCAVENGERS The good folks of Port Barre have been rationing their food pretty alright over the years, but with this influx of newcomers, things have been getting pretty tight. Even the crunchy creepy crawlies of the deep swamp have seen thinner numbers than ever. In the interest of not completely depleting what little local resources exist, there has been a call to arms. All able-bodied and willing parties, Swamp and Urban Dwellers alike are to gather for a scavenging mission HERE.

EUROPEAN EXPORTS The Didact Triumphant, a cruise ship that has been docked in Europe for the past year, recently docked in Mobile, Alabama. A few strange folks made their way to Louisiana and been showin' up in Port Barre since then.

There's no one left to write the fancy history books, so we do what we can to keep track of our lives. Journals are the only option left for the few that know how to read and write.

STRIP MALL & SHOPS
Looks for all the world like a shoddy strip mall, just a small handful of stores lined up along one main road, all boasting family owned names, not a Starbucks in sight. All the windows have long since been boarded up as are many entrances, with the exception of a few that have been reopened as squats, shelters and makeshift trading posts.

TESS' INN
More of a motel than an inn really, it's just a low, one-level building on the way out of town. In its hey day, it might have been a cute little place, but now all the thoughtfully placed flower beds are full of nothing but weeds, the window panes are smashed out and boarded up and the carefully hand-painted sign is flaked and peeling, now hanging by only one of the two chains that held it up.

THE TOOTHLESS GATOR
A shoddy bar lying a little towards the outskirts of town, the location of The Toothless Gator was obviously chosen by the good, bible-thumping, god-fearing men and women who wanted to hide the town's alcoholics rather than let them drink right in town. Pretty small place, at capacity it only holds about 50 or so people in close quarters, half of which have probably all fallen in the bayou no more than 100 feet beyond the bar's rear staff entrance.

Ruined or not, the town still has streets and yards and all that other good stuff. Wander out and about in Port Barre here.

SAFE HOUSE
One of the few places in Port Barre where one can find a nice place to sleep and some semblance of a meal. Sure some of the patrons are a tad shady, but the husband and wife running the place are friendly enough for stragglers to come in on a regular basis. Just make sure you pay in one way or another. They don't take too kindly to people skipping out without dropping off a few things out of thanks.

CATHEDRAL & CEMETARY
There are still some good and proper God-fearing folk left in the world, the sort that need a nice little place to say their prayers every Sunday. The cathedral provides just that. Granted, it looks more like the sort of place you'd see on a ghost hunting show, half-ruined and swallowed by trees and weeds left unchecked.

JUNKYARD & GARAGE
Good luck finding a working car here, or siphoning much gas, it's been here a while, chances are it's already been stripped of anything useful. You may be able to salvage some parts if you're lucky and know what you're doing though.

THE INFIRMARY
A look down a noxious weathered road on the outskirts of town leads to The Infirmary - a ghost manor on the outskirts of Porte Barre. A quarter-mile canopy of degenerate oak trees, form an impressive avenue leading to the antebellum home. A lot has changed since the mansion was first discovered. The first floor was deemed The Administration – for the medical and people services that would be given to other survivors. The second floor, The Accommodations, make-shift bedrooms, and storage of weapons and other useful materials. Anyone who has medical knowledge or any other useful skill contributes whenever situations arise. Patrols of the Infirmary and grounds are conducted roughly every hour.

REFUGEE CAMP
During the thick of the infection, a group of survivors relocated from the town to the bayou to organize a safe camp away from the more populated area. One can only speculate as to what happened to the original settlers, now it stands abandoned for the most part, save for the occasional temporary occupants.

MANORS
Few and far between, some of these lavish buildings remain standing. Some are still in relatively decent shape just on the outskirts of the town. Should you venture deep enough, however, you may stumble upon the ancient ones, swallowed up by the swamps around them, forgotten long before the infection was even a thought.

SWAMPS & WOODS
If the starving animals with enough teeth to bite clean through your arm and the gun-toting backwoods nutcases aren't enough to deter you, the atmosphere itself should. The bombs haven't destroyed the landscape here, but rather, the fallout has tainted it. The trees are dark and gnarled, growing thick and out of control, the water's murky enough to be a shade away from black. Nothing about it is healthy, and it certainly doesn't entice anyone into a leisurely paddle down the river.

SHACKS
Yeah, if you value your life, you should probably avoid these. Shacks scattered around the swamps and woods seem to be a favourite haunt of those gun-toting lunatics you've heard so much about. They vary in size, upkeep and even occupancy, but they all seem to have the same unnerving effect when spotted in the distance. Watch your footing here, some are rumoured to be littered with traps of all shapes and sizes with results ranging from discomfort to maiming to kicking the bucket.

ALTERNATE UNIVERSE
This is all for the sake of good fun, execute those ridiculous c-box conversations and what-ifs that always go on. What if the captain of the pioneer guards joined the ballet? What if little miss goody-two-shoes was a cannibal? What if aliens decided to claim the earth and harvest our organs? Anything goes and there's really no word count here.
