In the middle of a distant ocean exists a tiny island. Although not large, this island is teeming with life; the soil is rich and vegetation thrives just about everywhere. Wild animals freely roam the forests and jungles. The island also houses a mine, where many rich minerals can be found. Called "Sunny Island" for its warm climate, it seems like the perfect place to live.
So why was it ever abandoned...?
A few years ago, one fateful shipwreck beached a young farmer and a family of four. Moving about the island, they found that they were not the first to call this place home, although they were the only ones doing so now. The only other residents of the island were natives, and houses built by previous settlers were dilapidated,as if they had been evacuated long ago.
With sheer determination, the five residents of the island made the place thrive. People flocked to the island in droves and began new lives. The farming, ranching, fishing, and mining industries boomed. And for a while, life was a fairytale fantasy on Sunny Island.
And then, one day...
Well, it's not like everything suddenly turned bad. It was just...little things. It seemed like there were a few more overcast days. Winter weather seemed to set in a little earlier and let up a little bit later. As a result, crops didn't grow as well as they used to; with less growing, livestock could not eat as much as they once did and suffered for it. In addition, miners found it more difficult to collect the precious gemstones once abundant in Sunny Island's mines, and fishermen had troubles reeling in any fish that weren't so small as to be useless.
Sunny Island, once a fantastic vacation spot, became a place to escape. Residents began leaving in large groups. Soon, only the most faithful residents were left. Conditions haven't worsened yet, but everyone lives in fear that their home will one day be uninhabitable.
What could have possibly caused this? Answers won't spring up from nowhere. There must be someone who can solve this mystery...
