Sunny Island
Hello and welcome to Sunny Island! We're a little island in the middle of nowhere, but for that we have a fairly large and diverse population. They say that the island was abandoned long ago, but no one quite understands why--it is full of natural resources. The initial settlers turned the deserted place into a number one tourist attraction! But, um, we don't quite have that distinction anymore... why don't you join us in helping to put this island back on its feet again?

It's currently Year Two of Spring.
It's a little bit cold for the season; a few particularly obstinate piles of snow and slush are left on the ground, even; but that hasn't stopped life from returning to the island. Flowers push their way through the ground, birds sing boisterously, and farmers once again set to the task of growing crops. There is no snow expected for the season, but there will be a lot of rain, so take care and keep dry!

Sabrina loved libraries. She loved them anywhere she went. There was something about a library's silence that filled the air. No conversation in a library was ever small talk. It was always about research or about the books people were reading or searching for. There wasn't ever talk of weather or whatever else people could come up with. Speaking of the weather, what was Sabrina doing inside on a relatively nice day?

Well, it had nothing to do with research or work for her father. She wasn't even looking for a book to read. Even though the library wasn't much to look at (what library was?), she was sitting quietly at a table drawing. But she was drawing nothing of the library. No, her drawing was all from her imagination. Mountains, the sun setting, dragons flying the sky. The dragons however proved to be more difficult than she had anticipated. She had a few rough sketches, but no detail. Taking a quick look around, she noticed that there didn't seem to be anyone around. Leaving her things on the table, she went looking for inspiration.

Creeping through the village Zann looked around he really didn't want to run into people he had nothing but bad experiences with civilization as a whole. His body pressed low to the ground his eyes darted every direction as he slowly crawled. He still didn't know these islands well at all and took every opportunity he could took look for answers or clues to help him find whatever it was he was looking for. Everything seemed pretty clear so he hopped up into a normal walking position and headed out into the open. Eyes still moving around he read small bits and pieces of signs mainly what he had picked up in his travels. Soon however a building caught his eye "L...L...Library?" Still a hard word for him but he knew what it was and knew they were supposed to be helpful. Quickening his pace he headed in.

Zann hated buildings the still air and stenches that hid within them poisoned his nostrils and throat. "Ugh... People call me savage.... I don't even smell like this." He had learned to speak relatively well over the years even if his reading skills were horrible. Looking around he didn't really know what he was looking for but skimmed the aisles regardless, this quickly stopped however when he spotted a girl causing him to dart to the end of the aisle and press his body tightly against the shelf. His face slowly peaked out at her studying for a bit he didn't want to talk but sadly he would probably need this woman's help. He remained silent though.

Sabrina found herself pulling a couple of books off the bookshelf. Some of them helped others not so much. She wondered if maybe she should go into the children section? There was sure to be picture books of dragons wouldn't there be? She placed her books back where she had found them, she walked back to her stuff, and made sure to make sure everything was in a neat pile. She'd hate to think that while she was gone someone else would need this room. Sabrina however didn't get anywhere when she noticed that she wasn't alone any more. She was sure he wasn't a librarian or anything. She tried to smile when she had noticed him.

"Hello," her tone more friendly than if she would have been outside. It all went back to the library being a place that wasn't meant for "small talk". "Do you need any help or something?" She asked, thinking that maybe he thought she worked here or something. She might as well, she had visited the library a few times, and she knew her way around for the most part. And well if she couldn't help him, she could always point him in the direction of someone who could. It also crossed her mind that maybe she should take a small break from the drawing, maybe the ideas will come later.

Eyes opening a bit wider when he realized he had been noticed by the girl. Stepping out he tried to act normal or at least what he thought was normal. "Hello..." He her over from first impressions she seemed rather Fragile to him but then again looks can be deceiving something he wished most people would learn. "I need help looking through some books.... You see... I can't read very well..." He was ashamed to admit such a thing especially to someone he just met but if he came in here and found out nothing it would defeat the purpose entirely.

His eyes turned to the ground as he said, "unfortunately I don't know what it is I am looking for." He tried so hard to remember each day what it was he was supposed to find but it had been so many years since that day. He didn't know what it was or really even how to get back to his island. "I have heard these places are good for finding what your looking for... I thought maybe it could help... And if it is no trouble you could help me?" His gaze turned back to her as his hand slid up to his head fiddled with the skull he wore on it nervously. He wasn't to sure what to expect here he rarely had conversations with people in the towns he went to and never asked them for help. Most of what he had learned had been from random travelers he ran into on the roads and boats he had been on.

Sabrina took in what he said. He wasn't sure of what he was looking for? But she wasn't sure of what she was surprised of more. That or the fact that he didn't know how to read well. She had never known anyone who didn't know how to read. She had been able to read for as long as she could remember. It seemed almost sad to her, hearing that he couldn't read well. If she had any intention of turning him over to the librarians so they could help him, she couldn't do that now. Not now knowing what she knew. But how could she help him, if he didn't know what he was looking for?

She gave a light smile. "Libraries are good for research. All these books are filled with all sorts of things. It's the best place to come to when you need help looking for something." She nodded her head. "I'll be happy to help you however way I can," she told him, with every intention of helping him. She looked down for a moment. "But... do you have any idea of what it is you're looking for?" She asked, hoping that he would have some idea. "Or some sort of hint maybe? We'll need something to work on. So that I know where to start looking..."

He searched his memory desperately trying to remember anything about what it was he was looking for. "I... I...." He kept thinking "Um... It might have been an animal.... or a plant.... I think..." Such vague answers but he thought maybe he was on the right track. Was he supposed to hunt some animal and bring back proof? Find some rare plant and bring it back? Why was this so hard for him to remember he wanted nothing more than to go back but he couldn't at this rate. "I...I am just not sure but I can't go home until I find it..." He seemed serious and insanely sad all at the same. He was never going to see his island, his people, or his family again was he.

"I just know I have to find it." He said somewhat sadly looking into her eyes. "Anything you could do to help I would appreciate immensely." He let out a small smile at the thought. "Where do we start looking though." His eyes glancing at all the books so many and they all looked the same to him he didn't understand how anyone could tell the difference between these things. Soon his eyes rested back on her.

"I should show manners. My name is Zann it is a pleasure to meet you. Thank you for not treating me like a savage." He knew it was an odd thing to say but from her looks and from what he had learned from his travels the first reaction most girls gave him was scream first and never ask questions later.

Sabrina listened to him for a moment. "A plant or animal?" she repeated. "We can go to the nature section of the library. They have a whole aisle filled with books about nature. Many of the books even have pictures in them, so maybe you won't even have to struggle to read!" She told him looking at the bright side of things. And who knew, maybe something would jog his memory!

She wasn't sure if she should be sad or suspicious at his not being able to go home. Though she had willingly left her own home, it was upsetting to think that someone who wanted to go home couldn't. At the same time, however, she couldn't help but wonder why it was he needed... whatever it was he needed to find. Had he gotten himself in some sort of trouble? Yet here was Sabrina walking right into it? Still she was much too polite to ask now. Maybe she'd get to asking why he couldn't get home some other time.

He introduced himself, and Sabrina found herself slipping back to her normal self. Introductions, she believed, were a form of "small talk". However, she knew this kind was important in order to be able to talk about other things. Zann was weird. Not because of the way he looked, though that was odd too. No, it was because of the things he said. "I'm Sabrina, it's nice meeting you too," she said confused at what he had said. "Why would I treat you like that?" It crossed her mind that people just assumed because of the way he looked. But Sabrina knew what it was like to have people who didn't know her, judge her. "Maybe the people calling you a savage, are savages themselves."

"Those could be useful." He said in response to the nature books seeing the object could definitely give him the spark he needed to remember. Though it saddened him a little to think that most of the reading he had done was limited to ones with mostly pictures and small children's books. He was also curious as to what all in these books he would have already seen in his travels. Hell if he knew how to write he could probably make his own book on the world. "Show me this section?" He stepped closer to her ready to follow her around the library. This place still bothered him everything about it felt unnatural to him. Zann figured the sooner he found what it was he was looking for the sooner he could be rid of this dreadful place.

"Sa-bri-na?" He sounded it out loud some words and names were still new to him this was one of them. "Most people especially woman seem to think I am dangerous though I have done nothing to them. They see me enter town and think I am there to attack." This made him slightly angry as for all he knew he had been next to the object he sought in one of those past towns just to be run out. The anger quickly faded though and turned to a smile with her remarks. "I often think that myself." He laughed lightly.

Still looking around the room his curiosity began to take hold. This is the first time he had ever really talked to a girl outside of his tribe. He had some questions. "So Sa-bri-na... Tell me about you?" His head cocked to the side slightly looking her over once more. He still didn't understand these "civilized" people, how could they be comfortable wearing so much ridiculous clothing? What exactly was the point of these "glasses" some of them wore? Despite living outside his tribe for twelve years he hadn't learned a ton besides how to speak and a small amount of reading.

Sabrina nodded her head in agreement. "Come this way," she said turning away. She had an idea of where the nature section was, though she had never had to visit that section before. But now that she thought about it, checking it out might help her with her own little quest. If she looked up some lizards or something, it was sure to give her ideas on how to draw her dragons.

As she walked she listed to what Zann said, about the way other people... about the way women seemed to find him and treat him. He seemed nice enough, she knew he hadn't given her a reason to think other wise. "I'm sorry about that. I hope you don't think all people are like that." Though Sabrina had become slightly suspicious of him, it had more to do with what he was in search of and why, not the way he looked.

She was startled when he asked her about herself. What could she say? Where should she even start? Talking about herself wasn't an easy thing for her. She worried that people would find her conceited. She wasn't her best subject, she wasn't sure she knew herself all that well. "Um..." she looked down at the floor, unsure of what to say. "Ok... I'll tell you about me, but you'll have to tell me about yourself later ok?" She said feeling slightly bold. "What would you light to know?" She asked, because a more specific question would give her an idea of what to talk about.

He followed her intently his eyes still darting around the library occasionally he would see the spine of a book that had words he recognized which peeked his interest as to what would be inside. He ignored them for now and just kept following Sabrina. The further they went in the more he could smell the stench of the books he hated it so but he suffered through it.

"You have nothing to apologize for. You have done nothing to me." He said with a small smile still following closely behind her. "I try hard to not think all people are going to treat me in such a way but... Well it just happens so often it is hard to think otherwise sometimes." It really discouraged him from talking to people most of the time but there were cases he couldn't avoid it. "I just people would take a second to get to know me..." A small glint of sadness entered his eyes as he glanced down.

"What do I want to know?" He pondered for a moment about what would be a good question. "Well um.... Tell me what your life is like?" That was a pretty good question he thought it would get a few facts from her at least. He wanted to know all he could since he hadn't gotten much time to talk to classy people. "As for about me I will answer any question I can I have nothing to hide from you." He smiled brightly this made him feel good for reasons most people wouldn't understand. This is the first time he had ever had anyone ask stuff about him and he would get to talk about his people for once.
