Jumping ahead a bit, but the Edinburgh Skeptics Society is arranging a nice selection of sceptically-biased, paranormal-themed events throughout October, featuring notable contributors such as Richard Wiseman, and covering areas such as seance and paranormal investigation with a bullshit-free approach.

It's still in the early stages, but all looks pretty good. Even if they can't spell 'sceptic' properly:

Throughout October we will be holding weekly events as we head up to the Pagan celebration of Hallowe'en.� These will include mock seances, New Age fairs, haunted vigils and special guest speakers- all in a skeptical light of course!� There will be four one night events whihc are set out below, but please note: DATES AND TIMES ARE CURRENTLY BEING CONFIRMED AND THEY MAY MOVE- KEEP CHECKING.

Wednesday 7th October: The Victorian Seance // 8pm // �TBC
Professor Richard Wiseman will lead you in a Victorian Ouija Board session in the depths of the haunted South Bridge Vaults.� While one group is contacting the dead, others will have a chance to see their future with the ancient wisdom of the Tarot and psychic readings.� Or maybe it'll be ideomotor effects and barnum statements.� Who knows................

Wednesday 14th October: The New Age Fair // 8pm // �TBC
Come along to the Edinburgh Skeptics New Age fair.� Overdose on Homeopathic medicines and live to tell the tale.� Have your cancerous tumour removed from your stomach, without cutting the surface, by a Psychic Surgeon .� Experience the power of the Crystals (well cheap plastic anyway).� A New Age Fair, skeptic style.� Remember- its just water!

Wednesday 21st October: The Vigil // 8pm // �TBC
Enter the haunted vaults of Nicol Edwards Pub and search for ghost and ghoolies amongst the ancient city of Edinburgh.� These vaults have been explored before, but what will now been thrown up as we are plunged into darkness.....� We will be investigating from a rational perspective, so forget your EMF, we're checking for infrasound!

Wednesday 28th October: Special Guest Speaker on the originals of Halloween // 8pm // �TBC
Our guest speaker is yet to be confirmed, but more info will follow.� We will be discussing the origins of the Pagan festival and determining why and how it has come to mean "Trick or Treat?"

Haunted Mist Group: Members Posts: 173 Member No.: 93 Joined: 18-April 08	Sounds intriguing! Having seen Dr Wiseman's seances before, you do know that when you enter into the room, the last thing you take note of is the guff on the table....
