I've just put up a 'remastered' version of the Tokyo 1986 bootleg. While putting the songs through the plug-ins i had chance to have a proper listen and it's great. The version of 'Cruel' is the best i have heard, even softer and more ethereal than the recorded version imo. What's also great is hearing Paddy and Wendy's promo tagged on at the end of the concert. Thanks Jamie for sharing all these brilliant Sprout moments from the old download page,it may be gone- but it ain't forgotten!
Cheers for the link Loaf, try this oneGeantVener

Sorry for responding to an old post...

Just wanted to confirm that the rapidshare link is most definitely not the original "Silhouettes" bootleg. The original has 20 tracks and only 11 of those are included in that download.

The download requires a password to extract the files, so I can't comment to whether the quality is the same or not.

It's unfortunate that Sony is so vigilant about tracking down those that share music like this. I'm sure that 99% of those interested in these obscurities would purchase any legitimate sources of these tracks ... particularly if they were sourced from a better source than these compilations.

It's sad that 12 years after the fact, this little bootleg project is still the subject of great interest among the fans of this board and others. It only goes to show how much some record labels drop the ball with respect to distributing music that people want.

I hope that everyone who wants these tracks will eventually find a way to enjoy them.

Tornado was available on CD (Hey! Manhattan) but the whole production run was blighted by "bronzing", a progressive condition that renders the play quality to that of a dusty and scratched LP.

Interesting. Did this happen to any other PS-release, and wasn't it possible to get a good copy? (Check chapter "customer support policy": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CD_bronzing )

I have had my hands on 3 different copies of the Hey Manhattan! CD single and none of them would even play. The discs were a very dark bronze color. I haven't seen any other PS releases like it.

YKH mentioned that was a fault with the CD single.will it rip in itunes etc?might be worth a go.On the subject of faults, the 12" mix of 'Nightingales' has a distorted tambourine in the intro, maybe the reason it never came out on CD..

In the case of the CDs that I've had access to, none of them would play or could be ripped in a computer. This is not to say that all of them are bad, but there was definitely a serious issue with this run of CD singles.

New 'rips' too, possibly even better than my original ones! (Or not? Let the debate begin!)

Marvellous initiative, so far. But is the idea to scan ALL the 7" covers...? That's one helluva task!

The 'Devil' version is the speedy one, that I've always secretly preferred...consider the debate open again!
