Title: Jordan: the Double Album
Description: Completism chronicles
bisonrav - May 26, 2012 08:16 AM (GMT)
Gradually, and very slowly mopping up the last pockets of resistance in the great completism project. With the exception of the continental edition of the Golden Calf (long version), a couple of the double packs, and a few cassettes, I think I have pretty much all of the official releases, and have discovered things like the fact that LCTWWM was issued separately in Spain, Italy, Germany, France, US and RoW on different labels with slightly different packaging. Fascinating, eh? Oh well, suit yourselves.
Anyway, attention focusing now on South Africa, and after a long search I just received the SA edition of Jordan. Which, fascinatingly, turns out to be a double album, so in effect the original vision was realised. The 4 sections are put out one per side - no extra tracks obviously.
You'd guess this is all about local mastering difficulties rather than artistic demands, but quite nice to see all the same.

Intriguing! Photos, perchance? Would love to see the gatefold.

It's sadly not a gatefold, the two disks are in a single but slightly wider sleeve and with side 1 to 4 over the 4 sections of the album.

Some local SA label - catalogue number is ASF 3337. This would have been only just after Mandela was released, so not a lot of direct involvement from outside.

Ah, OK. Too bad. I could see the "Jordan" gatefold before me...

Not likely to play it any time soon, but the vinyl looks in mint condition and theoretically should have been easier to master than the single LP. Not easy to find though.
