Hunter hated places like this, with blaring music and the raucous laughter of half-drunk men and women. However, the University didn’t allow alcohol in the dorms, so he was forced to find other places to drink. Certainly, he could say to hell with the rules and sneak in a six-pack anyway, but Hunter didn’t disobey without reason, and to him smuggling beer wasn’t worth a possible suspension. Therefore, he was here, at a bar. A karaoke bar, no less. At least it was better than that annoying little club some of his peers went to.

Hunter was in a bit of a bad mood today, if it wasn’t obvious. Well, at least, he was in as much of a mood as he would get, as he wasn’t prone to either very bad or good moods. One of his teachers had assigned a huge technical paper due next week, and his boss had him working almost every day between then and now, meaning he wouldn’t be getting much sleep for the next few days. On top of it all, this meant he wouldn’t have any time to learn anything more about the other senshi and their origins. Days like today needed a cold one.

He weaved his way around the crowded tables of laughing friends encouraging each other to go up and sing on the karaoke stage. Right now some overweight man who was obviously tipsy was belting out an absolutely charming ballad about true love or sex or something like that; Hunter wasn’t paying any attention to it. When the young man finally reached the bar, he was pleased to see there were a few free seats. He slid onto a stool and ordered a beer when the bartender looked his way. As he took a few swigs of it, his unfocused gaze remained on the glossy, scratched bar. In his mind, he was going over the different books he would need to finish his technical paper for school.
