Here's a two part question about this album:
This is the second pressing of this LP cover. What changed between the first and the second pressing?
Who is the pianist on this LP?

I need to look up at the moon to see if it is red since John is asking a question about the Goodman family . Chadley :D

Dwayne Friend's picture was omitted.. and no I am not a Goodman fan either...I have no idea how this album got in my collection...JC must have sneaked it in...

Was the original cover the one with Howard and Vestel naked or the one with slabs of meat on the cover? Maybe I'm getting them mixed up with another group from back then.

I'd say the abscence of DeWayne Friend's photo-he is on the first, and pianist probably Eddie Crook with Little David on the organ

James, you're almost correct. LD Young is the pianist and Dwayne Friend is missing from the album cover.
and Norm, that's a visual I didn't need to imagine, espcially at Thanksgiving!

I honestly never saw the attraction of the Goodmans and others of
that type. I just think of them as LOUD and fat!!! Of course this is coming
from one who loves 4 good voices, great harmony, and a piano.

I guess when I first heard the Happy Goodman Family sing was about 1962 at the NQC in Memphis,TN. The place was packed, both sides of the stage were opened and we sat on the back-or smaller section of Ellis Aud. Many groups had sang but then the Happy Goodmans came on to sing-and the audience about went wild.

I have the one with Dwayne on the front cover. Dwayne is alive, well and pickin almost as good as he did in his prime. Talked to him a few weeks ago. He is another one who can tell a story or two.

I too have the one with Dwayne on the cover, I'd say that Dwayne was the best guitarist of the Friend boys, and Harold was good, but my dad had their brother Darrell Friend for a revival once, and Darrell was not only a wonderful preacher but was also very good on the standard guitar and steel guitar, and I think Darrell was the best singer of the Friends.
