Next is the trial! And last of all will come the crime!
-Through the Looking Glass-

My name is Britannia Kemp - well no actually it's just Brittany Kemp I wish I was named Britannia I love that name - and I'm not even sure that Kemp really ought to be my last name - I did some research and it means 'Warrior'; knowing my families over obsession about what they've been doing for the past several generations I wouldn't be surprised if it was changed somewhere in the past. I'll explain a little later what I mean. I was however named after the Isle of Brittan, or Britannia. My mother grew up there, she was a professional tumbler until she met my father who was a bit of a nomad but had citizen ship in Washington State in the United states.

I was born the youngest of a set of twins and my parents loved us both equally at first but over time I became more of a burden to them than an asset until they found a use for me - my parents had a need to find both things and people useful and I fear sometimes that I may have inherited that.

I am writing this Diary in addition to the one that I am keeping for the psychologist that the court saddled me with. She keeps trying to get inside my mind to figure out why I am the way that I am. Unfortunately, because of the reality of my life, I am forced to lie through my teeth in the Journal that I have to turn into her - or rather I am forced to edit out the truth. But lying on such a regular basis is hard and so I am beginning this secret diary so that I can put the truth inside and satisfy my sense of honor. Not that I expect anyone to ever be reading it but me - since if it was ever read it would probably land me in the nut house with a complementary long sleeved jacket and a little room with pads on the walls and floor.

The reason for this is that my reality is far different than the reality is quite different than that of the average mortal - you see the secret o my family is that they believed in the things that go bump in the night. No I shouldn't say that; rather they knew of the existence of the creatures of the night - and they hunted them, hunted them with a desire of completely exterminating them. Now you begin to see why I say that if any other were to read this I would be locked up.

Oh I know what you're thinking. 'Vampires don't exist - it's a mathematical fact'. To that I say 'hogwash' - that complete handful of bunk is based on the ridiculous and entirely untrue belief that everyone who gets bitten by a vampire turns into a vampire. I say belief and not hypothesis because while if was a guess there was positively no education behind it - of course people used to believe that children born on certain days, or with a cowl over their face, were doomed to become vampires when they died, so I suppose every culture has to have its misunderstandings. After all it wasn't so many centuries ago that I would have been suspected of being a Cambion because I am the second of twins and twins were believed in that day to be impossible unless the father was actually an Incubus Demon.

But I must go - when next I write I will tell you about Charon, the one who completes me.

Until then I remain

Brittany
