Learning how sprite, fuse, recolor

I have decided to make this guide to help u start spriteing
Here is a couple of links to spriteing guides that will help u get started
http://www.dragonflycave.com/recoloring.aspx this is 1 of the best spriteing guides iv found so far
http://www.freewebs.com/howtosprite/ this 1 tells u how to do some different stuff than the first 1
http://neopets.com/~jolteon55_2000 4 learning how to make trainer cards

some pokemon art isn't coverd in the in the guides above so we will be posting updates in this first post so u can learn how to do other stuff

cages
ok here is how u do cages first save the cage sprites(that r posted below) to your computer

land cage

land cage (small)
http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/2999/landcagesmallxk4.png
water cage
http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/8145/watercagezq7.png

ok next paste the cage sprite into paint (or whatever program u r useing)
next we need some sprites to go in the cages use the mystery dungon sprites from http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites.html save them to your computer then it's only a matter of pasteing the sprites onto whatever program u r useing and position them in the cages here is a finished 1 that i did

icons
OK, first, the site to get the icons is http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites.html. Take the icons, copy one to paint, then copy it to a NEW paint document (because the bmp format will mess up the colors of you copy another one to that same file). Do the same with the second icon.

Creating colors - when you create colors for icons, make sure the red, blue, and green are multiples of 51 (sometimes it's hard), otherwise it wouldn't really be an official icon...

Recolors - After you have done the above, it's time to recolor! Just the same as recoloring a normal Pokemon, take the colors and make 1x1 or 2x2 pixel squares next to it, so you have a color palette. Do the same with the other Pokemon. Match up the shades, and create any shades you need to (read the creating colors section before you do this). Then recolor.

Fusions - After you recolor, you can take out parts from one Pokemon and put it on another. Simple as that. MAKE SURE YOU RECOLOR THOUGH.

Shinies - Just create 1-3 colors (remember to read creating colors before you create colors) that look KINDA like the original Shiny. As close as possible.

Darks - Take EVERY color on the Pokemon, and decrease its luminosity by half. Easy (it doesn't matter if the colors don't come out as 51's).

And... there you have it?

Remember, people don't become experts in a matter of days. It takes a lot of determination and practice to go through with all of this. Just give it time and it will all come to you eventually.

If you're just starting out, go with this chart.

Beginners-re-colors/re-vamps/cages
Moderate-basic fusions/color swaps(putting absol's colors on umbreon)/original sprite making(official sprite size is 64x64)
Advanced-pixel-overs, advanced fusions(more than two pokemon fused, recolored with an original set of colors, etc.)
Expert-All of the above, scratch pictures/drawings with more than one beings included, and advanced pixel over’s(being able to make a 2,000x2,000 pic into a small 100x100 sprite. The smaller, the better.)
Professional(pros)-All of the above

Image Upload Sites
http://imageshack.us
http://photobucket.com
http://www.fileden.com
http://imgspot.com/
http://www.filecities.com
http://www.tinypic.com

You can send me any upload sites that you know and I'll add it here.

Sprite sources
http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites.html For a lot of video game sprites (trainers/pokemon/some landscape)
http://www.dragonflycave.com/testing.htm For quick pokemon sprites. Just put in a few names and you'll get a few sprites of that pokemon. You can also use it's "random" feature

Some tips
To put the pictures in your signature, you have to click User CP at the top of the page and click edit signature. To put images in your signature you have to upload the file at 1 of the upload sites listed above and copy/paste the img code into where you want the picture to appear.

and always save as a .png dont save as anything other than a .png even if someone is holding a gun to your head

more will be added to this guide in the near future
