.appearance;

Samantha has pretty , dark brown hair that falls a couple inches past her shoulders, but this feature is often lost on those who observe her appearance. As a rule, it is always pulled back into a hasty ponytail or a loose braid if she happens to have enough time (which rarely ever happens). Her eyes are about the only thing that stand out about her face. They don't have much depth, though, but Sammie is fine with that. She figures that if her looks were more attractive, she might begin to take on more selfish, vain attributes and be too afraid to break a nail to play any competitive sports. Her eyebrows aren’t shaped very well, and stretch across her face.

When it comes to her physical stature, there's no question that Sam is disappointed. She weighs about one hundred and twenty pounds-- not skinny, but definitely not fat, either. Besides, most of it is just muscle from exercising as often and as diligently as possible. No, the aspect of her build that the Hufflepuff absolutely despises is her height. Standing at only about five foot and one inch, Samantha only meets a seven-year-old's standards of tall. If she didn't spend so much time outdoors in the mud, she might even consider wearing high heels all the time to boost her height a couple of inches. As it is, being girly is out of the question, and so there seems to be no solution for Samantha. She's tried it all: charms, glamours, potions, and even trying to physically stretch herself out. Needless to say, none of these approaches accomplished her goal.

When it comes to the issue of clothing, the fifteen year old isn't exactly what you would call fashion forward. Sure, she's aware of the latest trends that all the popular kids are wearing, but that doesn't mean that Samantha cares enough to dress up herself. During school, she wears her robes and uniform, but only to avoid pointless reprimands that take up precious time she could be using to practice Quidditch. On the weekends, she'll either wear a tank-top and shorts or a sweater and blue jeans, depending on the weather. Obsessing over clothing is a useless waste of time, and therefore, Sam refuses to do so.

.overall view of appearance;

As far as her appearance is concerned, Samantha couldn’t care less. As mentioned before, she finds it a complete waste of time that could be spent doing something that she actually feels is important. If she wore nice, “cute” clothes, they would only get dirty in the process of Quidditch practice and occasional scuffles in the mud. Her hair is most convenient when she pulls it back into a ponytail or braid, and Sammie is all about convenience. Anything that takes her more than five minutes is considered a waste of time, and all this is one of the main reasons why the Hufflepuff doesn’t like hanging out with the popular girls. They spend too much time trying to make themselves look nice should do something more useful with their time.

Perhaps one of Samantha’s most noticeable traits is her willfulness. She doesn’t like being told what to do, or when people point out her mistakes. Instead of looking down sheepishly, however, the Hufflepuff has been known to defend her point, even after being proved wrong. About the only time that she doesn’t do this is at school. Sam isn’t very book-smart, and she doesn’t attempt to pretend otherwise. Professors and people that the seventeen-year-old doesn’t particularly care for find her impertinent, but her friends have come to realize that she’s just honest-brutally, more often than not. She does try not to quarrel with her friends, but it can become awfully hard at times.

Sam is passionate about few things, but one on the top of her list of priorities is Quidditch. Her favorite position is beater. It gives her a great outlet-who doesn’t enjoy knocking preppy girls who only play Quidditch for the popularity off of their expensive brooms with a well-aimed bludger? Ever since she was little, Samantha has enjoyed getting dirty and muddy, and sports provide an excellent opportunity for such activities. She isn’t worried about falling or getting hurt. Physical pain is just that-it goes away after a while. Besides, it’s sort of fun to show off all of your “battle scars” to your fellow teammates.

And, while it’s true that she despises superficial, shallow girls and their fashion trends, there’s one thing that Sam envies them for. That would be their grace. She can soar the air on a broomstick with no problem whatsoever, as elegant as a bird (when she’s not knocking people to the ground). Once on the ground, however, Samantha becomes incredibly clumsy. This setback is a great hindrance to her dream of going dancing with the guy of her dreams (once she finds him, of course).

And teammates bring up the issue of friends. Sam refuses to hang out with people (girls for the most part) who are obsessed with appearances. It irks her that they care so much, and she has been known to play the occasional prank, but most of her time is spent practicing Quidditch. Sammie is honest alright- brutally so. Once a friend, though, pretty much always a friend. One of her more redeeming qualities is that Sam is a faithful and loyal friend. She's also wonderful to take shopping (if you can force her to, that is). She's completely honest about what looks good on you, and what doesn't.

Like most people, Samantha can only be pushed so far before she cracks. If someone hurts her best buddies or really starts to get on her nerves, she isn’t scared to sock them in the face. Detention doesn’t really bother the Hufflepuff, as it only lasts for a couple of hours. She’s careful not to go so far as to get expelled- Sam knows how far is too far. For the rest of her last year at Hogwarts, she plans to enjoy the ride and let the good times roll. That is, so long as the preps don’t drive her to the brink of insanity- a very likely possibility if you know Samantha at all.

.comrades;

When it comes to Samantha and friends, they are, for the majority, guys. She only enjoys hanging out with people who are fun-loving, non-judgemental, not afraid to get dirty, and not obsessed with the way they look. That being said, most girls are eliminated right away. It's also a plus if they aren't afraid to take a risk, so that Sammie can have someone to pull all of her pranks with. While she's under the impression that most people don't like her due to her devil-may-care attitude, the Hufflepuff has actually stood up for several people without realizing it, and therefore, has become quite popular among the minorities of Hogwarts.

.enemies; Let's see....preps, preps, and preps. Do they have nothing better to do than sit and stare at themselves in the mirror all day, fantasizing about how much people are in love with them? If some of them would get a life, or play Quidditch for anything other than the popularity, maybe they wouldn't be quite as bad. There are also a number of people who give her dirty glances in the hallways: peoples she's punched, people she's played pranks on, people that she's accidentally sprayed with frog guts, and the Slytherins from the time she stole their quaffle...ah, all had consequences, but every time it was worth it.

.family members;
Mother- Emilia {Brown} Gould 37
Father- Hayward Gould 42
Brother- Marcus Gould 14

.relationship with each member;

Mother- Samantha and her mother never really got along, ever since Sammie refused to play dress-up and dollies with her, opting instead to play in the mud outside. They still love each other, but simply don't understand how the other one can have such different opinions from themselves. She even had the nerve to be upset that Samantha turned out to be magical like her father, instead of a muggle like Emilia. That was when their relationship really took a turn for the worst. Now, six years later, they're barely on speaking terms with each other.

Father- No doubt about it, Sam is Daddy's little girl. He taught her to play Quidditch at a young age, and introduced her to the world of sports in general. Anything she asked for, he just couldn't say no. The ironic thing was, Sammie was one of the few little girls who didn't really want anything; clothes, piercing, all the stuff that kids want so that they can emulate teenagers. She had a broomstick, and beater bat, and a bludger, and that was all that Samantha really needed. He was proud of her placement into Hufflepuff, even though he had hoped she would follow in her footsteps and become a Gryffindor. They still go to the World Cup every summer they can, leaving Marcus and Emilia behind.

Brother- The relationship between the two Gould siblings was probably the most dynamic and multi-faceted. At times, Marcus was extremely jealous of his big sister. Her athletic talent, her magical abilities (he took after his mother and received none), and the fact that she seemed to be able to do everything before he could. Other times, they were the best of friends-- walking to the movies together, going to get ice cream, and sometimes Sam would stand up for him whenever the older kids in the block picked on him. When there relationship became long distance, it did wonders for the two. Samantha tries to write him at least once every two weeks, and Marcus always returns the favor.

Not particularly. Samantha is just trying her best to keep from getting too many detentions this year. Her mother isn't exactly pleased with the letters concerning her discipline that are sent home so frequently. The thought of finding a boyfriend hasn't really crossed her mind...Sammie doesn't really consider herself girlfriend material. But who knows....maybe she'll fall for someone this year.

There wasn't very much to do at Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry on a Monday night. During the weekend, it was possible to find a friend down in the kitchen or someone to share hot chocolate with in the room of requirement. Sometimes Bethany even managed to sneak down to the pitch and get a few extra hours of practice in. But tonight, none of it sounded very appealing. For once, the hufflepuff felt full and hot chocolate sounded a bit too rich. She'd heard a Slytherin mention that they were going to explore the Forbidden Forest that night, and if he got busted, Beth didn't want to be nearby.

All that was left was the Astronomy Tower. It was a long and dangerous trip, but the thought of looking at the stars that night was soothing enough to brave the corridors in a which a professor or prefect might be lurking. She pulled on a sweater and "borrowed" a pair of her roommate's yellow slippers before slipping quietly into the commonroom and then out of the portrait hole. Turning around, Beth shot the painting a warning look before it could raise a ruckus. She had already made it clear that there would be a no-tolerance policy on letting anyone know when she snuck out, on the pain of having it's canvas torn to shreds. The figure in the painting closed it's lips, sulkily mumbling about how the students "showed no respect these days, no respect at all." Bethany just chuckled and padded her way up to the Astronomy Tower.

That night, she was lucky-- the Hufflepuff didn't run across anyone else on her way to the top floor, and she made it within about fifteen minutes. Climbing up the stairs, she made sure to be extra careful so as not to trip and fall flat on her face. All of her concentration, however, dissolved when she heard a familiar voice call out to her cautiously.

Hello? Who's there?

At the sound of Dorian's voice, her face rose towards where he sat as a smile spread across her face. No longer watching where she stepped, however, Bethany's foot came short of the last step and she promptly fell, sprawling out onto the cold stones floor of the Astronomy Tower. She laughed a bit at herself as she stood up, grinning at her friend. "Hey, you're out kinda late," she remarked. Dorian didn't really seem like the type to break the rules and leave the commonroom this late, yet here he was. Walking over to him, careful not to trip next time, she sat down near him (but not too close, of course). "How's it going?" she asked him casually, aware of the minuscule distance between herself and her fellow Hufflepuff. For some reason, she'd been super-conscious of these things lately, but Bethany couldn't figure out why....she pushed it to the side. It wouldn't help if she attempted to analyze everything.
