OK, so I'm arranging my top 100 favorite Mario songs (I have to download several more soundtracks to pick out my favorites), but for now, I will post my top 10.

My criteria, which you don't necessarily have to follow...:
~ ONLY games starring Mario, Luigi, or both are included. Games related to the Mario series, but don't involve the Mario Bros. in a major way are not included (i.e., Wario Land, Donkey Kong Country, Yoshi's Story). I also did not include Yoshi's Island. I debated whether to include that game, but at the end of the day, left it off, as that would lead to the inclusion of similar games like Yoshi's Touch & Go, etc.
~ Spin-off games of the Mario Bros. series ARE included (i.e., Mario Kart, Mario Paint, Super Smash Bros., etc.). However, songs in those games that aren't related to the Mario series (i.e., Brawl songs in other stages, the F-Zero X version of Rainbow Road, etc.) are NOT.

OK, now on with my top 10, with a small explanation of each:
#10 - "Boss Battle" - Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga - [Link]
I love this boss theme. It's so catchy, but very fitting for a boss battle. I love how it gets more ominous as the song goes along. It's a great song overall.

#9 - "Egg Planet" - Super Mario Galaxy - [Link]
I remember when I first played SMG and heard this song, it blew me away. I thought, "Wow, if this track is this good, the rest of the soundtrack must be as well." And I was right.

#8 - "Ending & Credits" - Super Mario World - [Link]
I was so freaking nervous when I battled and beat Bowser for the first time. Hearing this song and watching the ending and credits was really memorable for me back then.

#7 - "Rainbow Road" - Mario Kart 64 - [Link]
I enjoy all of the Rainbow Road themes throughout the Mario Kart series, but the version from Mario Kart 64 is the best one, in my opinion. It has this epic feeling that the other ones don't seem to have.

#6 - "Beware the Forest's Mushrooms" - Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars - [Link]
Very amazing track, even though it's pretty short. It's very fitting to the forest, and is overall one of my favorite tracks from Super Mario RPG...

#5 - "Ultimate Koopa" - Super Mario 64 - Link]
Bowser has had a lot of fantastic themes throughout the Mario series, but I think this one in particular is the one that gave him that big boss-type feel and truly made him seem like a gigantic threat. For the record, the Final Battle themes against Bowser in Super Mario Galaxy and Paper Mario are excellent as well.

#4 - "Goodbye Geno..." - Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars - [Link]
This was the theme that played after the party defeated Smithy once and for all. What a theme to hear. I can still recall the shot of the party looking over Bowser's Keep as Exor fades away, and then each of the scenes that accompany the next part of the theme.

#3 - "Dire, Dire Docks" - Super Mario 64 - [Link]
The Mario series has some fantastic themes for its water stages, but I feel this one blows them all out of... the water...
Anyway, I think everyone who's played SM64 is immediately familiar with this track.

#2 - "Victory Lap" - Mario Kart 64 - [Link]
Wow. What an epic track. Dare I say that it doesn't seem to fit in with the rest of the lighthearted tracks in the rest of the game. But this particular track is just amazing, and it was always a pleasure to hear after clearing 150cc or Mirror in the Special Cup.

#1 - "Staff Roll" - Super Mario 64 - [Link]
Princess Peach is saved from Bowser, and all is well; time to celebrate.
That's the kind of vibe I get from this track. I love how the game went through a lot of its environments, and how the music fit in perfectly with each world. Really just an amazing track in general, and is currently my favorite one in the Mario series right now.

Ooh! Ooh! Can I participate?

Super Mario 64 Merry-Go-Round

That was creepy as hell the first time I heard it. Especially when it was sorta faint and mixing with the rest of the level's music.

Don't you mean "Good Egg Galaxy"?

Yeah, same thing. Egg Planet is its Japanese name, IIRC. I was going by its name on the OST.
