The broadcast of the women singing DYRL grew stronger and it clearly pissed off the monster. The things shield was fading fast.

From the direction of the broadcast, Alaras detected two targets inbound. They were traditional Meltran Quaedlunns, closing at medium altitude at top speed. Given the mecha's performance, they would be on the scene in a matter of seconds. Who were these women?

A second song started. The tone remained beautiful but there was a deadly optomism in the song, whomever the Meltrandi were stalking were going to get killed. It was Sharon Apples A Sai en. The backup singer had come to the front. Clearly, she was no mere ballad singer/

"maha shutai e tsubai e tsubai e
di shutei a no en Tsubai
maha shutai e tsubai e tsubai e
di shutei a no en Tsubai

a sai, do mi no steikun
halish dizi e
a di shuta dia [a di shuta dia]
la dia [la dia]
zhan who"

Big ugly roared in pain from the posititivity the women had in themselves.

Alaras and Breerai had little trouble dispatching the Q-somethings. Unline the two Q's inbound, they seemed to lack the missile armorment, though both got a few more stitches from those deadly lances.

Unfortunately, that was not the last of whatever these guys were.

Eight more units approached, three stood out front and vaguely resembled a glaug and two legless regaults. All were much faster than their counterparts.

Four lingered behind, two more of the Q-somethings, and two unidentified units with small fins. The leader had wicked looking side fins from a glance in the IRST. The thing looked like a wall of muscle. The two guys flanking him were only slightly smaller, though sleeker.

Even more disturbingly, one of the smaller scythes was actually singing! The antispiritia was enough to cancel the two Quaedlunn's efforts. Big ugly was getting no weaker but no stronger. A standoff, and two unknowns and eight hostiles closing- FAST.

(From now on, for all attacks and declared defenses, use the invisible castle roller with bonuses approved on your character sheet, including musical performance. If you need help ask.

Welcome Liz. I've not seen you in a bit, and hope you are well. You're missed!

And for me, the hell in my life is almost over. I got the job to escape my nattering colleagues- out in a week and two days. I passed the drug test with flying colors, even though I was scared they would mix my sample with someone else's. I am getting a nice raise, and start in two weeks. Unfortunately, this means another move. We'll get this figured out, though there could be more delays. Sorry about the delays now, and here we go. This battle is winding down. Expect some off duty play!)

Analyzing the new forces arriving, Beerai quickly assesses the sorry state of their situation.

Cataloging the situation, he mentally prioritizes the targets.
The Q-Rau's are friendlies, for the moment; no target.

The VLSA is still a primary threat. But with it's shields still functioning, the reaction missiles might be wasted - he angrily thinks, Like my other ordinance!

The mysterious mecha are clearly threats. They seem to be re-enforcing the VSLA and the two previous mysterious mecha. However, the previous encounter taught him something about these bandit's tactics: they prefer up close, physical based melee attacks.

<Aggressor! Stay on my wing, take opportunity fire at new bandits, I will concentrate fire on the enemy songstress!>

Beerail stays in Fighter Mode pulls into a high yo-yo trying to get in position above the singing bandit. Lining the smaller mech in his sights, he unleashes a hail of cannon fire, attempting to silence the offending song. His blood boils at the thought, anger fueled by the disruption of the beautiful Miclone music. Rage! He is no longer singing, all his focus directed at the abomination, the enemy songstress.

Anger driving him now, he forsakes some defensive maneuvers to dive straight towards the offensive singing mech, pouring on his cannon.

1. (Dodge: roll 16)
2. Fire Gunpod (med burst) at Bandit Singer (Attack roll: 10; Damage roll: 30)
3. Fire Gunpod (med burst) at Bandit Singer (Attack roll: 22; Damage roll: 70)
4. (Dodge: roll 25)
5. Fire Gunpod (med burst) at Bandit Singer (Attack roll: 11; Damage roll: 30)
6. Fire Gunpod (med burst) at Bandit Singer (Attack roll: 21; Damage roll: 40)
7. Fire Gunpod (med burst) at Bandit Singer (Attack roll: 20; Damage roll: 70)
8. Fire Gunpod (med burst) at Bandit Singer (Attack roll: 18; Damage roll: 40)

(I forget -- Does the invader have the Beam Canon or the standard Gunpod?)
WHHHOOOOPPSSS I forgot Dice; here's the rolls:
Weapon Systems (+2), Advanced Combat (+2): Gunpod Attacks (1d20+4=10, 1d20+4=22, 1d20+4=11, 1d20+4=21, 1d20+4=20, 1d20+4=18)

<Rogue, keep it cool! With Emilia helping us, we're sure to win if we don't blow our stacks!> Alaras quickly recognized that voice, and was certain it was the Commander's sister, Emilia Jenius. Remembering that she was able to face off against a Major-class Protodeviln with nothing but a Q-Rau packed with smokescreens, his heart brightened even more with her presence, and he just barely resisted the urge to utter a VERY un-Zentran-like squeal of fanboyish delight, preferring to instead focus his fire on the enemy grunts. Something about that big mech told him not to even try attacking it, though he had no idea why. He shifted to Fighter mode (if not already in Fighter mode) like his leader, and rose up above the enemies, evading fire and Big Ugly's attacks as he did so. After he got a better position, he fired on the legless Regaults and Glauglike thingy, while prepared to cover his partner if need be. He wasn't able to sing anymore, as he began to show a bit of his "profoundly autistic" side in his extreme focus on the battle and enemy, leaving him temporarily silent.

Actions:

1) Transform to fighter (if not already in fighter mode), increase altitude, dodge (22)
2) Fire gunpod (med burst) on Legless Regult 1 (13)
3) Fire gunpod (med burst) on Legless Regult 2 (13)
4) Fire gunpod (med burst) on Glaug thingy (16)
5) Dodge and maneuver for a better shot on target indicated in next action (15 for dodge)
6) Fire gunpod (med burst) on mech-that's-just-like-singer's-mech-but-isn't-singing (12)
7) dodge (16)

Other: Roll with impact if hit, deploy 1 flare per 8 missiles if targeted by missiles

Rolls for dodges, +6 Fighter mode bonus (1d20+6=22, 1d20+6=15, 1d20+6=16)

Gunpod attacks, Weapons Systems bonus +2, Pilot bonus +2 (1d20+4=13, 1d20+4=13, 1d20+4=16, 1d20+4=12)

[I]Diandra wasn’t sure how she got this gig, but then again her daddy had always taught her never to look a gift horse in the mouth. Emilia had chosen her to fight beside her and she would do her best to show her that she hadn’t chosen incorrectly. Even though she always excelled at everything she tried, this was a far cry from life on the Oklahoma farm she was raised on. She shook her head at the thought of going from riding championship horses to flying awkward machinery. She couldn’t wait to write Klan Klan about this.

She was a country girl at heart and so it was a country song she decided to sing, one of her favorites by Patsy Cline – Crazy.

Even in song her voice held that country lilt with every word that she belted out.

Crazy, I'm crazy for feeling so lonely
I'm crazy, crazy for feeling so blue
I knew you'd love me as long as you wanted
And then someday you'd leave me for somebody new
Worry, why do I let myself worry?
Wond'ring what in the world did I do?
Crazy for thinking that my love could hold you
I'm crazy for trying and crazy for crying
And I'm crazy for loving you
Crazy for thinking that my love could hold you
I'm crazy for trying and crazy for crying
And I'm crazy for loving you.

Diandra then breaks off from Em and engages the bandits around a nearly surrounded VF-14 and fires 4 10 missile volleys at four different enemies.

In an attempt to jam them up Diandra cranks up her radar.

To quote another favorite she hoots while avoiding getting hit herself “Cowgirls don’t cry!”

Beerai here's the odd music, it's something he encounters frequently in the miclone karaoke clubs, but never developed a taste for. But this singer brings a power to the lyrics he'd not heard before. Song is so powerful! Yelling in Zentraedi, "I will not let the song die!"

He notices the other aggressor starting to stray, focusing on targets of opportunity instead of the primary threat, the enemy singer. He opens a squadron channel to the other Aggrssor, <Aggressor! Stay on my wing, focus fire on the enemy aberration - the enemy singer needs to DIE!!!!! We need to regain the initiative, follow 1000 metes. Acknowledge?!>

Beerai breaks off and uses the Invaders superior thrust to push the vehicle straight up, putting a massive amount of distance between the bandits before rolling over to re-acquire the targets below. His threat assessment still standing, he begins his maneuvers to get on the tail of the enemy singer's mech, trusting to the squeamish juvenile on his wing to keep the other bandits off his own six.

QUOTE
"Because bandit is unpredictable element in any engagement, it is imperative to develop game plan to force bandit into predictability allowing accurate anticipation of his next move."

(Do you want me to re-roll? Or can the actions and rolls above stand for now?)

The two remaining Cylons realized they made a horrible mistake with their divide and conquer tactic. By each taking on a different group, neither could take a shot without getting nailed. All their actions were strictly defensive, and even then, it was getting very tenuous. The enemy was good, and there were a ton of them.

After the J-pop of Minmay, the old american country music came as a shock. The two quaedlunn's split up to cover the two surrounded pilots. The leader was indeed flying a highly customized, and super-rare Ouilqua. The second was just as unique. It was a Rau, but fitted with the sensors, radar and ECM of a Regult scout.

The Ouilqua broke off first to help the weakest of the two Cylons, the poor guy flying the VA-3.

The second Q breaks off to help alaras. The jamming environment grows oppressive to the hostiles, and several missiles and gunshots miss wildly, but the operator is good, and does not jam the 13 or the Invader's avionics.

She was a hell of a shot too. Her reaction time was absurdly good. Probably one of the few that could actually keep up with a member of the Jenius family. She dropped the leader-odd glaug in her first shot, then took down the two hover regaults who were salivating over their easy kill of the VF-14.

The Quaedlunn had an American Confederacy flag painted between the shoulders, with the slogan "Southern by the Grace of God!" and a few other rather colorful slogans between.

"Cash, Grass or Ass. Nobody rides for free"

And more...

(gonna go with first post, you're pretty embroiled in a dogfight)

Breerai drew a few beads on the anti-anima spiritia and squeezed off a shot, only to see one of the Q-somethings deflect the shot by absorbing it. One was nearly cut in half, though the singer is undeterred. The big evil mecha watched from a distance to make sure the singer is unmolested.

In the battle, breerai got radar and missile warnings left and right, and he had to go defensive. That's when the Ouilqua broke in and took down the last Q-something without batting an eyelash and tried firing on the singer.

The big guy's huge scythe shot out from under his right arm and cut her missiles in half mid-air, before growing close to their target. Plates slammed down around his mecha's faceplate as if to say, "Kid Gloves are off."

"Now hear this cylons. This Emilia Jenius, and I have an emergency commission as a Major in the NUNS Air Force! I am taking command of this operation. We need about 30 seconds before Sisko Kid and I have enough to use the booster on that thing. Use your heads, and stick together. Cover us and we'll cover you. If you start acting smart, you'll make it out alive."

What do you know? The Boss's sister was on the scene!

<Aye, aye! The singing enemy must die! Zulu, help me nail her!> With that, Alaras launched 8 missiles directly at the singer, certain they would be deflected. He then tried to evade the likely retaliation, followed by firing a burst from his gunpod at the singer again. He then fired his nacelles at the singer twice, making sure they were fire-linked. He then devoted his efforts to defense, wanting to stay alive. He had limited resources, and needed to devote himself to playing defense till they could take on Big Ugly.

Actions:

1) Fire 8 missiles at enemy singer (roll = 26!)
2) Dodge (roll = 11)
3) Fire med gunpod burst at enemy singer (roll = 16)
4) Dodge (roll = 25)
5) Fire all nacelle lasers at enemy singer (roll = 23)
6) Fire all nacelle lasers at enemy singer (roll = 12)
7) Dodge (roll = 23)

Free: 1 flare and 1 chaff per 8 missiles when dodging, roll with impacts, leap dodge if applicable

Missile roll (1d20+6=26)

Gunpod roll (1d20+7=16)

Nacelle rolls (1d20+5=23, 1d20+5=12)

Beerai let's the coward take the lead, his superior supply of remaining ordnance makes him more viable as the aggressor. <On your wing Aggressor, you have lead.>

Falling a thousand meters back, he watches the effects of Alaras' fire, keeping an eye on any attacks leveled against the lead plane.

<Major, I have several reflex warheads primed and ready to launch. Simply notify when you have neutralized the spiritia shielding and I will release the weapons, eliminating the threat.>

As he swings past the enemy singing, following in Alaras's path, Beerai launches a fire-linked pair of blasts at the singer, just in case.

The rest of his attention is focused on defending his lead plane.

Actions:

1. (Dodge: roll 19)
2. Fire Gunpod (med burst) at Shoot Down Missiles (Attack roll: 8; Damage roll: 30)
3. (Dodge: roll 19)
4. Fire Gunpod (med burst) at Shoot Down Missiles (Attack roll: 21; Damage roll: 10)
5. (Dodge: roll 19)
6. Fire Gunpod (med burst) at Shoot Down Missiles (Attack roll: 13; Damage roll: 30)
7. (Dodge: roll 25)
8. Fire Gunpod (2x med burst) at Bandit Singer (Attack roll: 17; Damage roll: 40)

Dodge & Attacks: Dodge, Attack (1d20+8=19, 1d20+4=8, 1d20+8=19, 1d20+4=21, 1d20+8=19, 1d20+4=13, 1d20+8=25, 1d20+4=17)
Damage: Damage (1d4*10=, 1d4*10=, 1d4*10=, 1d4*10=)

Diandra shot 3 more volleys of 10 missiles at the power armor that was shadowing her. She needed to get this thing off her tail so she could maneuver better.

She continued to jam their radio frequencies with her song, over and over again...

And I'm crazy for loving you
.

Diandra knew she was as welcome as a skunk at a lawn party, and was sure she stuck out like a sore thumb as her power armor was basically covered with stickers ranging from "REDNECK WOMAN" to the CONFEDERATE FLAG.

Every shot from the Cylons fell true, but there was someone to fall in front, aqt least they tried. Every missile was intercepted from the big nasty guy. Yeah, he was every bit as quick as a Jenius girl, hat the armour of the macross and the missiles of a quaedlunn..

Despite that,Diandre put so many missiles on the second Gilgamesh, it was not funny.. She was a prodegy... Smoke...

The big guy was another story (15th level) His knuckles shot out, as did his knees and so did a cloud of missiles. It was goaltending, yes...

But Alaras and Breerai shot accurately. And the target was overwhelmed with firepower. She danced aside a few, but took a chewing.

As smoke errupted from the emulator, the power armour exploded...

The big guy looked like he swore revenge, but hit the high tail...

That left Big Ugly with no negative Spiritia...

"Hold your fire with the reaction bombs," said Emilia.. "We have a spiritia shot coming in seconds, and then we'll hit him with conventionals!"

<Commander,> that always sounds odd to address a Meltran as commander, <permission to pursue the escaping bandit?>

Beerai lines up on the "big guy" turning tail and running, squeezing off a few burst of energy after him, but not kicking into pursuit mode. After his attack, he resumes his position on Alaras' wing observing the big uglies movements and just itching to fire the Reaction weapons at it.

He also surveys the situation as it stands: what threats are left?

1. Fire Gunpod (med burst) at Big Guy Running Away (Attack roll: 18; Damage roll: 10)
2. Fire Gunpod (med burst) at Big Guy Running Away (Attack roll: 9; Damage roll: 30)
3. (Dodge: roll 24)
4. (Dodge: roll 22)
5-8: Actions held pending orders

Attack, Dodge (1d20+4, 1d20+8=[14, 4], [16, 8], 1d20+4, 1d20+8=[5, 4], [14, 8])

Damage (1d4*10=, 1d4*10=)

<Zulu, don't tempt him to come back! Focus on the monster!> Alaras couldn't believe what his teammate had just said, but he focused his attention on the now-weakening relic rampaging about. Keeping a safe distance, he fired his spiritia absorption gunpod at the beast, followed by a fire-linked nacelle attack. He then attempted to evade any counterattacks, followed by a second salvo of spiritia absorption and nacelle lasers, and focused on his defense. <Looking forward to that miracle, Commander!>

Actions:

1) Fire spiritia absorption gunpod at Big Ugly
2) Fire all nacelles at Big Ugly
3) Dodge
4) Fire spiritia absorption gunpod at Big Ugly
5) Fire all nacelles at Big Ugly
6-7) Dodge
