Title: Important Happenings! Please Read Carefully!
Description: New information about the forum...

Tinker Bell - November 29, 2004 10:13 PM (GMT)
Please read carefully!

The Mods and Admins have been talking recently about how the forum is working, what we'd like to improve, and what we'd like to add/remove. We've already made a few major changes in rules and policies, so here is the majority of what we've done.

1. Deleting Members
We have cleaned out the members list a bit, and will continue to remove several more in the next day or so. We have ONLY deleted members who have never posted and have not even visited the board in several months. If you happen to be one of these members, and find that you cannot log in due to account deletion, you may re-register.

We will have another member clean out in January.

2. Regarding Claimed Characters
This is the most major area of change at the moment. We're going to be reworking the way claims are done in order to make them a more significant and important part of the board activity.
  • All members who want to claim characters must have at least 50 POSTS before claiming. (Everyone who has already claimed a character previous to this announcement does not have to worry, you can keep your claims even if you have less than 50 posts)
  • You must be an active member in order to keep your claimed characters. Any member who has not visited/posted to the board for three months will have their claims taken away. This has already occured with several claims.
  • Claimed characters MUST appear in your signature.
  • We'll be changing more things about claiming shortly.
3. User Groups
We have added a new user group for members called "Fanslashtic" - for those members who have posted more than 300 posts. The benefits of being in this group:
  • Ability to upload your avatar to LoM instead of linking to it
  • Two stars
  • More message space in your PM box
  • New user group name instead of "Members"
This is a list of everyone promoted to this group:

If you have more than 300 posts, and weren't promoted, please post a reply.

Any other suggestions, ideas, questions, complaints, or praise :P are more than welcome here.

Just praise...

You girls are geniuses... I never would have thought of half of these things. :glomp:

Azzy - November 29, 2004 11:31 PM (GMT)
on behalf of the staff - thank you :D

porcelain - November 29, 2004 11:43 PM (GMT)
Totally reasonable, and you haven't made them without reason.

Just to let you ladies know, if anything were to happen to me, I've left instructions for them to tell LoM...this got weird looks, but either way. :)

Eremir - November 30, 2004 12:11 AM (GMT)
Very good changes! *applauds* Very happy about new promotion and second star. :smitten:

And porcelain, I've though about that myself. If I were to die or something, who would tell you guys? Have to send email to my friend now... But I do hope I won't die, though.

"Significant and important" how? It sounds interesting....

I haven't tried to claim anybody - yet - for myself. (I know Gimli is taken and - though I haven't noticed him in anyone's sig. - I'm sure Legolas is taken. ) Maybe I should?

Tinker Bell - December 2, 2004 12:25 AM (GMT)
Alright, I've finished updated the claimed characters list with all the new changes reflected in it.

Additionally, I have deleted the old claiming thread and made a new one for a fresh start. :P

...I was wondering if Orophin and Imrahil are still mine. Due to Rl, and computer problems, I haven't been able to come here in a loooong time. I was able to log in though thankfully, and I was just wonderign if they were still mine

SilverWolf - *hoping they are*

Imrahil can be, but Orophin was reclaimed. Sorry, we didn't make any exceptions in the cut. This was the first time we'd actually enforced the rule, though it had been our intention from the start.

SilverWolf - December 4, 2004 11:55 PM (GMT)
Alrighty. Can I keep Imrahil? He was the first one I claimed beforehand anyway, so I am sort fo used to him hanging about me.

Brigantine - December 6, 2004 04:37 PM (GMT)
Noticed the new Celtic buttons - snazzy!

Thanks for the heads-up on maintaining regular visits to the board :poke:. Sometimes I get so busy I just don't think I have the time to visit the way I'd like to, but now I'll make extra effort to at least make a drive-by every once in a while!

LadyofLegolas - December 6, 2004 05:51 PM (GMT)
   I would like to have the Dear Diary back. It was such fun to read and wright it!
*makes sad puppy eyes*

L'L  :(

Dinen Glamor - December 6, 2004 05:53 PM (GMT)
I agree! I just saw that it was closed...so sad... :(

But I can see where the whole interaction thing might need to happen.

Hampster - December 6, 2004 09:04 PM (GMT)
aw! That sucks! I really worked hard on Gimli's journal. How come you couldn't give me some time to print it out so I'd at least have it with me instead of it being permanently lost in cyber-space?

I understand about closing the journals and all, I'm just a little upset that I wasn't given time to take Gimli's journal. He won't be pleased..

They're NOT CLOSED. They were so we could redo them.

I'm sorry your post for Gimli was removed, that was never the intention.
