Title: Twincest
Description: an absolute taboo?
mistofstars - January 26, 2008 11:38 PM (GMT)
Well, this is something that goes through my mind since days!
I read some twincest (twin+ incest ^-^"") these days but I still think
it's somewhat strange... because, when I think about kissing my sister - it makes me want to puke
So, what do you think?
I think it's a delicate topic
I wouldn't glorify incest or twincest, but if it happens and as long as there won't be children from that relationship I would accept it...
And think about: Homosexuals have been, as we all know, also forbidden to love the one they chose...
I'm so confused and torn in two about this
Starr_Dust - January 27, 2008 12:48 AM (GMT)
Uh... there's only one option for this poll
Opal - January 27, 2008 04:42 AM (GMT)
It look's like you had trouble with your first poll like me. No worries just pm a mod. This looks like a job for Aeneus! ;)
On to the topic. I have never read any of the genre but the idea does make me uncomfortable. That doesnt mean I will never read one. But, hey. I read dark!fic with torture, rape, death ect. so what do I know?
Tirananniell - January 27, 2008 09:49 AM (GMT)
I love Twincest!! Its fantastic.
 Fred and George Weasley.

*contacts a mod* sorry -_-" >_<
Aeneus - January 27, 2008 02:55 PM (GMT)
Fixed.
I don't know what the hell is wrong with the poll function these days. It works fine for me, but you're not the first member to have problems making one

thank you aeneus! :biglove:
@tira
Well I think it's still a thing one should think about if it's okay or not...
though I also read some twincest right now
@opal: I think you've made a really good point in here xD
If one reades rape and other stuff like torture, one shouldn't be afraid
of reading incest/twincest
but I still think it's a weird thing to come up with...
I mean... like I mentioned before, I could NEVER imagine to kiss my sister
But there are two fandoms I don't care if those two guys are related or not:
x Boondock Saints (so freakin' hot... and one could say that they are chosen by God to be together xD if one needs an excuse xD)
x Starcrossed, which is a short-movie I can only recommend to you all :biglove:
Tirananniell - January 27, 2008 05:46 PM (GMT)
Well if you read something like Merry/Pippin (They're cousins right?) and that's fine then why not twincest?
I just think its immensely hot.
aylith - January 27, 2008 08:25 PM (GMT)
I voted not sure.
For some bizarre reason I like the thought of twins, but not really brother/brother relationship. Maybe because twins seem to have quite a different bond to what brothers and sisters have. Some share everything and can feel lost without each other. There's also the empathy factor.
I don't read much twincest, but I have came across the odd Elladan/Elrohir fic when the mood takes me. I also like the thought of those Weasley twins keeping each other warm at night. :D
Also, I watched a vid on Xtube [like YouTube but porn], a while ago, of twin men both.. erm ..riding two men. Granted they weren't giving it to each other, but they were both naked right next to each other.. and the rest.
Next to sex with each other I'd say you can't get much more intimate than that!
Mist of stars, you may or may not have seen this, but there's some stuff said in
this thread concerning incest, which you may find interesting.
Opal - January 27, 2008 08:49 PM (GMT)
@ mos and Tira! I don't know the problem really. Maybe it is the idea of one being attracted to someone that looks like themselves?
Plus it is the sibling thing and as I said in the inces t thread I don't read Boromir/Faramir. Maybe because I am a sib myself?
Starr_Dust - January 27, 2008 09:07 PM (GMT)
I'm not really into the idea of incest at all. The whole thing grosses me out. I can't even read Merry/Pippin because, like Tirananniell pointed out, they're cousins and to me that's still wrong.
And twincest is just even worse because it's like being attracted to yourself. To me, it's like saying "I'm so hot. I wish I could fuck myself. Oh that's right I have a twin! I'll fuck her."
mistofstars - January 29, 2008 12:54 PM (GMT)
loool starr_dust XD
No, I didn't mean identical twins (though the idea is sort of funny xD)
I was actually talking about fraternal twins...
But I think it's not so clear that when you don't read any other incest like cousin on cousin that you also read brother on brother or twin on twin...
beeeecause xD
I think there's sort of a difference...
I mean, cousins do not have the same parents...
And the thing with the parents just confuses me... My friend told me that it's a natural feeling to feel this "confused", that it's in one genes, for that there won't be any mutations or diseases when you have children... o.ö"
But I agree with alyith (thx for the link btw, haven't seen that!) a lot... When it comes to this twin-thing there is just an other bond ...
Starr_Dust - January 29, 2008 10:26 PM (GMT)
Cousins may not have the same parents, but they are still related. EI, Merry and Pippin's mothers are sisters. So they do share some similar strands of genetic code, it's complicated, but there is still a chance of genetic mutation when cousins have children. That's why in the US you can't legally marry a blood relative.
MysticLady03 - January 30, 2008 03:15 PM (GMT)
If a brother and a sister were to have a child there is a 25% chance their kid will have mutation. If someone had kids with a first or second cousin, the kid will have a 2-3% chance of mutation.
There is a website that explains this but I can't find it now.
Tirananniell - January 30, 2008 06:43 PM (GMT)
But the techinical point is, Merry and Pippin are cousins, they're mothers are sisters, so they are pretty close in the whole genetically joined thing. So I don't get how people can be for m/p but against twincest.
Itss slightlyy hypocritcal.
Im not saying anyone here is a hypocrit. But I have come across people before that were completely for cousins and not twins and i was like well thats stupid.
Aeneus - January 30, 2008 09:59 PM (GMT)
People like what they like. Some people like reading sibcest, but not parent/child, or not cousins, but second cousins, what have you.
It's up to personal feeling, there's nothing hypocritical about that. 'Being related' is a relative term. Sure cousins are still related, but so are second cousins, and third cousins, etc, etc. Only less and less so.
Where you draw the line as to what you're comfortable with and what not is up to you. So it's perfectly fine to be squicked by twincest, but to be okay with cousincest.

I feel the same way. That's why I can't really get into the idea of M/P

I totally agree :D
Tigerlily Grubb - February 4, 2008 05:50 AM (GMT)
I'm not into the twincest but, as said before, it may be because I'm a twin and, well, that's just not on my list of Fun Things To Do.
I do enjoy the cousin thing :merry:  :pippin: !!

vampmax - February 5, 2008 06:42 PM (GMT)
I think I might have to go with Tigerlily on this...lol
I was suppose to be a twin...and well he didnt make it and well I have always felt a little lost i guess you can say. But yeah if he had lived me and him together in any sense of a realtionship or then just brother and sister is not somethign that would get me going lol.
I have not ever read twincest though or any kind of incest only because I dont find it hawt at all but I would never tell anyone else that they couldnt read it.
I do have to say that I do like Merry and Pippin a bit. Not as much as say Frodo and Sam but hobbits are just way cute. :biglove:
hjbender - February 5, 2008 08:05 PM (GMT)
Compared to some things I've been into (past tense, water under the bridge now), twincest is far from the worst. I don't think the relationship has to be sexual so much as has to be "comfortable". It's not really the intercourse that does it for me when it comes to twincest--it's seeing the pair interact and just be "together". That's the good stuff to me. :strawberry:
And cousins are fair game too. :merry:
mistofstars - February 6, 2008 07:16 PM (GMT)
I agree with you hjbender!
Another idea I wanted to post in here:
Some of you say they couldn't imagine being together with their twin or brother or sister. But, and here comes a point! , I'm not gay and well, I still read slash?
And I couldn't imagine sleeping with a girl, but still I read gay stories?
So, what do you say then?
MissMagenta - February 22, 2008 09:18 PM (GMT)
Well ... to be honest - I've always kind of been into incest couples (you can't really avoid it when you're into Richard O'Brien stuff).
Take Magenta and Riff Raff (Rocky Horror Show), for example. Or the twins.
I don't think it's wrong. My sister is seven years younger than me, but sometimes I think, if I had a twin sister ... I don't know. Incest has a strange fascination ...

Actually Pippin's father Paladin is brother to Merry's mother Esmeralda. Sorry, the geek in me had to point that out. :)
And to echo mos I agree with what Aeneus said and it is all up to the individual on how far they are willing to go. And I feel it would only be hypocritical if I were to look down on others who like incest. I would never do that since I know how taboo it is to read interspecies which I myself enjoy.
Alariel Elrondiel - February 23, 2008 02:12 AM (GMT)
The only Twincest I read are about Elladan :elladan: and Elrohir :elrohir: and it has to be consenting. There is just something, in my opinion, that make them seem to belong together.

It depends on the people....
