Title: Author recommendations

Hurinwen - March 13, 2007 08:50 PM (GMT)
I thought it was nice to have a thread where people can recommend other people particular authors.

Like, in my case, I'd love to know a good author for:

- Erestor/Glorfindel, Erestor/Legolas or Legolas/Glorfindel
- HAS to be NC-17 (I want the -real- hot stuff :whip: )
- also has to be a respectable length, I like chaptered stories
- a decent build-up, I'm not a fan of fics that jump right into it and then build the story further on top of that. I personally like fics where both or one of the men (read: elves) doesn't kow yet he's attracted to the same sex or -atleast- not to the other person
- no rape, bondage, torture or mpreg (eventhough that one Legolas/Glorfindel-fic (anestel?) by that brilliant author-I-forgot-the-name-of is an absolute must-read, I prefer no mpregs)

Now onto recommendations!

-not too long either xD I prefer one shots to chaptered, but if its a short chaptered then thats okay...
-I like anything really, buildup, no buildup, pwp's are good too :)
-no hardcore torture please, a bit of bondage doesnt hurt, a bit of rough n timble, but no full on torture.

I think Molly is a wonderful M/P author. I enjoyed all her stories.

Does anyone know about some good Haldir/Legolas stuff? :]

Knives in the dark is the Legolas/Haldir or at least the one you need to read first.
I really like this story and all the others on the Ansereg site.
Legolas is the dom for once and there is some BDSM involved. :wine:

I know that one, Elfgirl, but thank you anyway. You reminded me about that one and I enjoyed that again ;)

Someone mentioned Merry/Pippin? If you haven't, you and everyone you know should check out RECAPTURED II by Llinos (so-called because it is the second version) and continued in RECAPTURED CONTINUED. It evolved out of a simple premise - what if, after Merry and Pippin escaped into Fangorn and met with Treebeard, they were recaptured by Ugluk and the surviving members of his band? They are taken to Isengard, to Saruman, and events in the War of the Ring take a radically different turn. This is an incredible sprawling epic AU that, really, everyone should read.

- suspense, and surprising twists and turns
- pretty much every canon character shows up at some point
- an additional cast of excellent original characters

Featured details:

- Hobbits, like cats, always land on their feet
- Pippin's opium addiction
- Hobbit mindspeech
- Woad-covered Orcs (woad's that blue paint stuff the Scots wear in "Braveheart")
- A properly developed romance between Faramir and Eowyn
- A malevolent and self-aware One Ring
- MUCH MORE!!

This story honestly has something for everybody.

I have just finished reading the books again after many years, and I've discovered now that Faramir is an incredible character. So I'd like some Faramir recs. I've found a few with Boromir but that's not a pairing that I find very convincing.

I know there are quite a few in the archive but I can't figure out where to start from.

Any suggestions? I'm looking for any genre.

TIA!

Captain of Mordor by draylon is the story that first made me really like Faramir. Before I didn't really think of him one way or another - in fact, when I saw "Two Towers" for the first time I didn't even remember his character from the books.

This story is one of my favorite LOTR fics ever. The premise may seem weird but give it a shot. Honestly, after reading this story (and the midquel, and the sequel) I can't see Faramir with anybody else.

Thank you for the rec. I did try reading this earlier but I'm afraid that pairing just plain squicks me and I really can't bring myself to read it.

I would appreciate other recs though.

For Erestor/Glorfindel, I really recommend Ezra’s Persian Kitty. You can find her fics in the archive here in the library. :) Anyway, most of her fics are multi-chaptered (is that a word?), and have a nice plot. And if you want one story in particular, or two (I can't make up my mind :P), try these:

The Art of Miscommunication

Story with a Corset

Hmm, while browsing through the list of her stories, I tell you, just read them all. ;)

You're a goddess, thank you! I'll be sure to read 'em.

Drat. And we're both squicked by Boromir/Faramir. Um. [thinks about this] Oddly enough - since I'm not particularly into hobbits - I kinda like the idea of Faramir and Pippin. I think it's the whole both-in-service-to-Denethor-at-a-stressful-time-in-history thing, and Faramir's general experience with halflings, plus there was that scene in the movie where Pippin was wearing his old uniform and they got to talking.

I haven't read many hobbit fics, but I'll try. Thanks.

I have found a good Faramir author in Anne Robbins. I have been reading her fic Trial and Judgement. It is Aragorn/Faramir, the first one I've tried and I've really warmed to the pairing. I can see a lot more of the pairing on the archive so I'm happy.
