Title: X-Men 4?
Description: So many mutants, so little time
Starr_Dust - November 21, 2006 03:05 PM (GMT)
I saw an article on IMDB this morning saying that Josh Halloway (Sawyer from Lost) is being approached to play Gambit in the next X-Men movie. According to the article, they wanted him for The Last Stand, but he pulled out because of scheduling (I heard he didn't want to do it because he thought Gambit was too much like Sawyer). The producer also claimed that they thought that his attituded was too much like Wolverine which is why he wasn't in X2 (they were planning on a cameo) and went with NightCrawler instead.
So, this article obviously hints that they are planning for an X4! I thought that, because of the way X3 ended, that they weren't going to bother with anymore, but I was obviously wrong. All I can say is that I want Nightcrawler back! It's awesome that they'll have Gambit, but dammit I want Nightcrawler! They spent all of X2 introducing him and then he didn't come back for X3!

there just has to be an X4! And oh Gambit played by Josh Holloway? That sounds enticing... though it doesn't fit into my Logan/Gambit picture with him

there has gotta be a Xmen 4! I mean the ending of number 3 says it all!
They have to explain why, what and how! Not gonna say in case some people have'nt seen it ( o.0 Probably no one but gotta be careful!)
Starr_Dust - November 21, 2006 10:14 PM (GMT)
^Well, it's on DVD so by now everybody who wanted to see it has probably seen it. :P

Well, if they do make an X4 then I hope it is directed by someone other than Brent Ratner. And that it is longer. X3 was the the shortest of the films considering it had so much going on.
Nightcrawler would be nice but I doubt it. I never liked Gambit much and think Nighty is the better character. Oh well.
Starr_Dust - November 22, 2006 03:55 AM (GMT)
^Yeah, how could they think that they'd be able to cover so much story in that short amount of time? It didn't work at all!

I'm just sad that Patrick Stewart won't be coming back :(

He might be. If you watch past the credits there's an extra scene where Charles's spirit goes into someone else's body. They didn't show the guy's face, but it sounded like Patrick Stewart

I assumed since it was someone else's body it wouldn't be Patrick Steward. But I really hope that it is.
Did anyone read the comics? When Xavier came back did he look the same?
Starr_Dust - December 2, 2006 12:33 AM (GMT)
I never read the comics (I just watched the cartoon as a kid), but doesn't he get cloned and then is able to walk again?
smalldiver - December 2, 2006 01:16 AM (GMT)
I'm not sure if I want him to be able to walk. It's a really interesting dynamic, I think, to have an X Man who is confined to a wheelchair.
But at the end of the day, as long as it has Hugh Jackman in it I'll be happy. :makeout:

I have read the comics sinse the 80's and he was able to walk again for a period of time due to Shiar alien technology. But I doubt they will bring that into the films. And it would be best if they didn't. Just stick with mutants.
Starr_Dust - December 2, 2006 06:44 PM (GMT)
^Oh they definately won't bring in anything like that. After all, the Pheonix was supposed to be an alien life form that merged with Jean and they decieded not to go there. They're not even bothering to touch on a lot of family connections (IE Professer X and the Juggernaut are step brothers, Mystique is Nightcrawlers mom and adopted Rogue, etc) which sort of disappoints me

I was all about the X-Men movies till the 3rd one. They screwed it up so bad. They had two compeletly different story lines, two different arces, in one movie. It was horride. I couldn't handle it.
I love Nighty but I would love to see Gambit. He was always one of my favorites.
tigerlily_grubb - March 25, 2007 05:56 AM (GMT)
I've had my heart set on Josh Holloway as Gambit since they first suggested the idea for X3.
I hope if they do make it, X4 is better than X3 was. :wall:

X-men 4 would be orgasmic!
glory2elves - April 5, 2007 08:48 AM (GMT)
They're not actually making an X-4 exactly.
Instead they're making a movie called Magneto...guess who it's about? And of course Sir Ian will be in it. Supposedly it's due out in '08 sometime. I've also heard that they're making a Wolverin movie as well.
I'm more pysched about Magneto though......

I agree. But Hollywood has its own idea for what 'interesting' is.

Actually I thought the first 3 films were already The Wolverine movie with everyone else as supporting characters. Marvel and Hollywood forget that other characters have fans too.
He is not as popular among comics fans as he used to be because they are sick of him taking all the attention away from characters that are just as good or better. But Marvel wants to stuff him down our throats. I used to love Wolvy back in my early days of comics reading but his overexpoure has damaged his character IMHO. But he *is* Nightcrawers best bud, so that saves him. :P
I want NIGHTCRAWLER baby. And some more Shadowcat (Kitty Pryde).

I seem to have killed the thread but now I'm much calmer. Truth be told I've always sorta liked Gambit but NC and Gambit fans tend to feud. But Wolvy is always fair game. He likes it that way...
AHEM! Anyway... it appears there will be something called 'X-Men: First Class' based on the comic based on the original 5 X-Men. Eh... my fave is the second gen from 'Giant Sized X-Men' 1 with the more international team. I always found Iceman to be the only one I could really be interested in for long amounts of time...
Supposedly James McAvoy will be playing a young Xavier. So he'll have to shave his head and learn to control and work a wheel chair, but whatever... We'll see.
