Title: Orlando to be Killed of in PotC4
Description: Are they nuts!?
Starr_Dust - October 10, 2006 08:07 PM (GMT)
I've been hearing this rumor for a while and I'm very unwilling to believe it's true, but according to
this article Orlando Bloom's character Will Turner might be killed off in the 4th PotC movie. The producers are saying they want to cut cost and have deemed Orlando's character "not necessary". This pisses me off for 3 reasons:
1) The Sparrabeth fangirls are going to go nuts because it practically confirms (if it's true) that Elizabeth will end up with Jack
2) It also confirms that there
will be a fourth movie (I already thought 3 was too many. Four will be just too much! :wall: )
3) They're really underestimating how much people liked Orlando's characer! I love Will and if they kill him off then I'm not watching the movie ever again. Disney can just kiss my ass if that happens. Do they realize how many Orlando Bloom fangirls are out there? I doubt Keira has as many fans as Orli!
smalldiver - October 10, 2006 08:15 PM (GMT)
Yeah, but are they killing him off, or just 'killing' him, a la Jack Sparrow?
Personally, I love POTC, and welcome as many sequels as possible. POTC is one of those films that I am not ashamed to admit that I go to solely for the eye candy and for the shiny sword fights and special effects.
Starr_Dust - October 10, 2006 08:27 PM (GMT)
Well, in the article it says they're cutting cost for the new movie so in my mind that implies that they're killing him killing him.
venusinchains - October 10, 2006 09:43 PM (GMT)
I've heard some people say that Orlando didn't want to continue his involvement with "Pirates," so the producers have opted to kill his character.
I've heard that the producers don't want to pay Orlando's fee, and that he's been saying he's no longer interested in "Pirates" as a kind of sour grapes explanation for not getting signed.
Whatever the case, I don't think the "Pirates" franchise will survive it. I think the original movie made it thanks to all of the elements contributing (and that includes the background characters). I don't suppose the producers have ever heard the phrase "If it ain't broke..."? 'Cause that's a sure fire way to break it.
And don't even get me started on the J/E possibilities. What kind of a movie would that make? (I'm picturing a cheesy romantic comedy on the high seas. *gags*)
Merevindur - October 10, 2006 10:08 PM (GMT)
@ Venus - I can't see that happening to be honest as it would be killing off the other half of a comedy duo and we know how good they are together...and plus it looks like Johnny and Orli are er, in love dare I say it. :biglove:
It could be spin and I do hope it does not happen as it would be like Laurel without Hardy and Sam without Frodo....
venusinchains - October 10, 2006 10:28 PM (GMT)
@Mer: I know it sounds completely ridiculous, but it's been posted to several "gossip" sites over the past few days. And there was someone on lj who claims that a friend of sister, who works for Disney, said there really was a fourth script for "Pirates" being circulated, one that eliminates Will Turner. (Again, a stretch, but....)
I want to completely discount it, and it's early enough that even if the script is real, the dropping of Will may turn around, but, pre-DMC, everyone said they wouldn't be tactless enough to push the Jack/Elizabeth story line the gossip mills were spreading - and that, sadly, became a reality.
I'm very much hoping that a Disney rep will deny all this before long, but the cynic in me is afraid it's just stupid enough to be true. :(
Undecided - October 10, 2006 11:00 PM (GMT)
Honestly, I didn't even know there was a second movie!
venusinchains - October 10, 2006 11:28 PM (GMT)
Undecided, where have you been! :P
I'm suddenly feeling a bit happier. :D It looks like the writers may be debunking this rumor
here.
Whew!

*sigh* If only! If only those two could get together and live happily ever after in a magical castle in the kingdom of love! They should make a movie about that!
@venus: Hurray for debunkings! :dance:
Merevindur - October 11, 2006 10:28 AM (GMT)
Starr, i've been wishing they were an item since the first movie as they had such a great on and off screen rapport together. :biglove:
Venus, I didn't think it was real and just a rumour really. They are unlikely to get rid of one of the most sexy characters. They are meant to be a double act and him & Johnny pull the act of so well. :smitten:

eeek.. *twitches*
I just read an article about it, and I hope they aren't going to kill him. William isn't the best character in the movie to be honest, that's Jack, but why kill him! Just like smalldiver said, they will loose fans that way.
If they really have to kill somebody then let Elizaslut die and let Will and Jack marry.
And they lived happily ever after while sailing the seven seas :biglove:
Starr_Dust - October 11, 2006 03:27 PM (GMT)
They'd never kill off Elizabeth. She's the girl :P  Although I do think Jack and Will should get married and have lots of pretty pirate babies :D
Eremir - October 11, 2006 08:20 PM (GMT)
The rumour I heard was that Orlando was fired from Pirates. Since they're still finishing Pirates 3 I thought that was odd... Who the hell fires the star in the middle of a movie?
But now I see. If they do decide to cut his character, I believe they're making a big mistake. We all know what happens to sequels that are bereft of the original cast. But if Orlando wants to move on, that's fine. He should do indie or something. Stop getting type-cast.
Either way, I don't think we have to worry.
Starr_Dust - October 12, 2006 01:37 AM (GMT)
I heard one rumor that Johnny said as much as he loves playing Jack Sparrow he doesn't want to do a fourth movie. If that's true then that'll mean the end to the Pirates francise because there's no way in hell there'll be a movie without Jack.
Tanja - October 12, 2006 09:20 PM (GMT)
omg so many rumors... why don't we just wait and see? :D and I'm still wondering where the Jack/Will kissing scene was? It was to be expected... or wasn't it? :biglove: :whip:
Merevindur - October 12, 2006 11:07 PM (GMT)
I agree, Tanya - it would be good to see the kissing scene though. *winks* :D
Starr_Dust - October 13, 2006 03:26 AM (GMT)
That should be how Will get's his revenge? Give Jacky a big smoochy! :makeout:
Merevindur - October 13, 2006 10:56 PM (GMT)
And he should do that in front of all the men including Gibbs!
Starr_Dust - October 14, 2006 05:13 AM (GMT)
^It's only fair since Liz had to be such a slut and tease Jack infront of the whole freakin' crew. :P
Merevindur - October 14, 2006 12:26 PM (GMT)
Hehe, that's true!
I think the both of them should make her wear that bloody corset again - that'll teach her! :biglove:
MysticLady03 - October 15, 2006 02:46 AM (GMT)
We need another 'Brokeback Mountain' like movie but not cowboy style, I'd like it more modern and edgy.
Liesl
Starr_Dust - October 16, 2006 12:19 AM (GMT)
^I read somewhere that there was a poll where women said that if there were to be a Brokeback Mountain 2 they would want to have Johnny and Orlando star in it! That would indeed be quite awesome, only no body should die in the end
Merevindur - October 17, 2006 09:51 AM (GMT)
True, Starr_Dust.
I could just imagine those two in that as well. Wouldn't it be nice if they had an extra long bed scene?

a detailed one please!
The only thing you saw at BBM was a gasping Jack... :P
Rose of Rivendell - October 17, 2006 05:17 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I was disappointed with that! If there was a Brokeback 2, they should have Johnny and Orlando in it, with the lights on/broad daylight, in the middle of a field, going at it like rabbits! I'll accept nothing less than full frontal!! :D
elfgirl44 - October 17, 2006 05:36 PM (GMT)
Mind u if Jack got with Liz (don't kill me yet!)
then that would leave Will to be *consoled* by Norrington :D  :wine: :makeout:
I think Orlando Bloom, Johnny Depp and Viggo shud do a love triangle Brokeback mountain style.
mmmmmmmmmmm :biglove:
Starr_Dust - October 17, 2006 08:01 PM (GMT)
^I think we should throw in Jack Davenport so they can have a four-some (or an orgy! Whatever you want to call it. I'll just say it's yummy. :yummy: )
MysticLady03 - October 17, 2006 08:11 PM (GMT)
Woah, getting a bit over ourselves from what I wrote? Thank buddha cause then I know people read my posts lol!
Liesl
Merevindur - October 17, 2006 09:43 PM (GMT)
Oh yes. It does have to be detailled, Denise - or there would be no fun in it. :biglove:
Starr_Dust - October 21, 2006 02:49 PM (GMT)
A girl posted this article on a forum I go to. I don't know what her sorce is, but I'm going to ask :P
Orlando Still Blooming for 'Pirates'
Actor will live to fight Johnny Depp another day
October 12, 2006
Orlando BloomRumors of Will Turner's death have been greatly exaggerated.
Fans afraid that Orlando Bloom won't return to the "Pirates of the Caribbean" films can rest easy. Despite buzz that Bloom's character would be sacrificed because of budget constraints, the rumors are "completely unfounded."
Public Relations firm New Market Strategies informed journalists via email that Bloom will return to the swashbuckling franchise.
"As some of you may have seen," begins the statement, "there have been some rumors going around online regarding potential absence of Orlando Bloom in the future 'Pirates of the Caribbean' films. We are working closely with Disney and want you to know that while we cannot comment on specific plot points, such rumors are completely unfounded."
So, even if Will is keelhauled, made to walk the plank or run through with a sword, no worries: he will survive.
The character won't have an easy time of it for the next film since at the end of "Dead Man's Chest," Will lost his father Bootstrap Bill (Stellan Skarsgard) once again and saw his girl Elizabeth (Keira Knightley) kissing the disreputable Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp).
The third installment, "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End," is due in theaters May 2007.
It's sort of upseting that most of the girls on the thread responded "I don't like Will, but I'm glad he's not going to die." Bitches.
Merevindur - October 21, 2006 07:57 PM (GMT)
Thanks for posting that up, Starr_Dust.
I would love to know where she got that info too, if only to confirm it really. :biglove: :smooch:
Thought it was nasty what those girls posted up after though - I would have thought if you weren't a fan of Will or Orlando that you would just but out of the conversation, but some folk like to air their views a little too much and on some forums they can be too in your face and I don't tend to like that at all as they can be nasty with it too, especially if you don't agree with them.
Orlando has become a houselhold name, they won't kill his character off unless he gets bored of being typecast with the character. :biglove:

One girl on that forum keeps insisting that Will will be killed off because she supposedly read the script for PotC 3, but keeps saying that she can't give up her sorce. She's just a crazy J/E fangirl.

I think people who say that they can't name their source is because they can be lying. At least show something that saids that you can't discuss the scripts.

^So true. People like that are full of shit plain and simple :P

@ Starr_Dust, there are too many people who talk bull nowadays on forums it is not so surprising to me now.
Some like to think they are important even though they are obviously not so.

I have the draft script on my comp, I downloaded it and think its pretty official, though I've never got around to reading more than a few pages.
If anyone wants it gimme ur email and u can check out its authenticity for yourselves.

You mean the incomplete one, right? (I don't remember exactly how many pages it was, but it definitely ended before the story was complete. There was no mention in it of Will dying or even seeming to die.) I'm sure I've read that one.
But if there realy is a complete draft floating around... :bounce:

As an avid searcher of the internet i have never come upon any 'complete' script and the site i got this one from has closed down just after i got it.
I personally think that they are reading it out of a magazine, as that rumour was in magazines and said to be very wrong.
Starr_Dust - October 27, 2006 03:41 AM (GMT)
You also have to keep in mind that scripts change. Even when the movie's being filmed so you'll never know exactly what's going to happen. The only person who knows what's in the script is the screenwriter.
I'm not dubting your scripts legitimacy Glorie, I'm just saying what you read could have been changed a lot since you downloaded it.
