Title: Neat little article on slash

Funny too. Mostly mentions comic slash but also references LotRs, StarTrek, and Buffy. Nice little paragraph on Nightcrawler. She has taste. And A-Team slash??? I used to love the show as a kid. I had the van. Merdock (sp?) was my fave. Hmmm....BA/Merdoc??? All that anger BA had towards Merdock must have been sexual tension.

I pity the foo who doesn't read slash!

Nice article, but this disturbed me:

QUOTE
Slash fiction is the generic name for fan fiction stories where two characters (usually both male) from an established canon (like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, or Lord of the Rings, or Star Trek) have explicit, hard-core sex. There’s scads of slash on the internet, in LiveJournal and Yahoo! groups and personal pages galore. Named for the naughty “/” that separates the parties involved, it comes in lots of flavors, but some pairings abound—there’s lots of Spike/Xander, lots of Kirk/Spock, lots of Obi-Wan/Anakin. (I’ve seen A-Team slash and Starsky and Hutch slash and even Daily Show slash, with Jon Stewart, Paul Dinello, and Stephen Colbert getting hot and heavy after the audience left.) It’s geek porn. I like it. I read it. And I write it.

Since when does slash mean hardcore sex and porn?

Yeah I thought this too, slash is so much more than porn, it's romance, and tension, and a breaking of the gender stereotypes and... I think this person had a rather superficial vieuw on the whole phenomenon.

Yeah, and why is it geek porn??
If a guy says that Seven of Nine and Kira getting it on is hot, is that geeky? The other guys would be like, yeah!!!! Who cares where the characters come from? And it's literature, not just scenes on a tv. It's much more active...yeah...it's active porn!! :)

Yeah, I didnt liked how some things were put either. Despite my signature calling my art porn. It's just all meant in fun. I take my art seriously and put my heart and soul in them. Maybe its a comic thing. But many fans call themselves geeks. I do it sometimes. Sort of taking back the power sinse Ive been called it in the past. And you are all right, it isnt just porn, if it should be considered porn at all. But lets face it. Society isnt kind to this sort of thing. And Im sure quite a few would consider me sick but, oh well. Do you think people calling themselves pervs or geeks help or hurt? Ive wondered about it. There are many fics Ive read that are emotional and heartfelt. A couple made me cry. I wouldnt be into them if they were simply "porn". A couple parts made me laugh but others I felt could be worded better. The author doesnt seem to take herself seriously. I espeacially agreed about X-Men. They are like old friends there for you when you are feeling down. They were espeacially helpful during adolesence. I dont know what I'm saying. maybe it's utter nonsense.

Oh and I like Alan Cumming. He did great as Nighty. Love those dimples. I didnt agree with the tatoos, though. I dont think comic Kurt would do that. Plus he is so much more than his religion. He's also cheeky, adventurous and flirtatious. I was hoping they were going to expand upon that in the next film but sinse they dropped Nighty ....... *sigh*
