Hm, this seems like a new forum, didnt notice it before. Well... to the topic...

I like Kings books. I didnt like to read Third Eye, because I got really scared, but I enjoyed reading a Cemetary of Animals (I translate the names from my language...so sorry if they arent correct). I finished reading the book in three days, so much it was interesting for me. The "hotel" book was interesting, but movie was sooo boring (I have seen some larger version (on 2 video cassetes (sp?))). I liked also the book about lost little girl going through wood and at the end fighting with a bear. That was very interesting.

I like the way, he writes books. I liked the book about the fire girl. That was very interesting and strange.

How about you others? ;)

Stephen King is my favourite author! :)

I'm trying to think of the titles of the books in English. I'm not sure which Third Eye is... Do you remember anything about it?

Cemetary of Animals is Pet Cemetary I should imagine. I saw the film not too long ago again.

The Hotel book you talk of must be The Shining. There are two versions... The film, by Stanley Kubrick from 1980, and the mini-series from 1997. Stephen King didn't like the film version that Kubrick wrote the screenplay for, so in the mini-series, King wrote the teleplay.

I guess with you saying that you saw it on two tapes you saw the mini-series. I found both quite enjoyable, but I am one of the rare people that actually prefers the mini-series... :P

Lost Little Girl in the wood... I don't think I know it... I'm not sure.

Fire girl, that's Firestarter, right?

Personally my favourite novel by Stephen King is IT. Although I love the mini-series that was made from it, I don't think it compares to the novel. They missed a lot of stuff out. The novel is over 900 pages long though...

But I love the series King wrote, The Green Mile. The movie was enjoyable, but the book has so many highs and lows... I read the series all in one go. I couldn't stop reading.

There are just so many good ones... Carrie, Salem's Lot, Misery, Dolores Claiborne...

My favourite novella is Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption. The film, happens to be one of my favourites of all time. :D

Third eye was about a boy who, when small was taken a third eye from his head ... and when he grew up, he become a writer and made a bestsellers, but then he decided to finish with the series and he 'burried' the killer.... and the story starts as this killer wakes up and he becomes real.. and he is going after his maker... that far i got... then i didnt ever finished reading it... it was too scary for me.

Pet ceremony... liked the book, didnt like the movie.

The Shining.. i disliked the movie..it was soooo boring. Like 2 cassettes, and i was sleeping .. no i guess that i have seen the movie.

Little girl in a wood... something with Gordon in the name... like A girl who likes Gordon or somewhat like that.

Third Eye still doesn't sound familiar to me... I guess I haven't heard of it.

The one about the girl in the wood, that's called The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon. I haven't read it yet. :)

Have you seen both versions of The Shining? When you say it's on two cassettes I assume that's the mini-series. Have you seen the film too?

I guess the movie is more scary, but I thought the mini-series had more to it as they were able to fit more in. Obviously, only my opinion. :)

Well according to the Internet Movie Database...

Runtime: 119 min
Japan:154 min (uncut version)
USA:146 min (original version)

For the film. I didn't mind the movie, it was alright - had a few good moments - but I have to wonder why Japan have a longer version... Sure, it's uncut, but there's no mention of an USA uncut version... Strange...

Steven King is a horror god! My first favorite King book has got to be IT. I loved the movie, but the book is better, much more in depth storyline that I wish was touched upon more in the movie. And I'm like you freddysgirl79, when I read IT I also see Tim Curry's face, it's hard not to, and also I hear his voice when I come to the dialogue, which is freaky in itself. When you thought the guy couldn't get any more creepier in the Rocky Horror Picture Show, he lands the roles as Pennywise and is beyond the borders of creepy in that movie.

My other favorites include The Green Mile and Shawshank Redemption (hope I spelled that right) those were also turned into fantastic movies. Oh yeah Pet Semetary too. I must say though that the movie freaked me out more then the book, that little kid who played Gage is just plain distrubing.

I was more freakend of his books, than of his movies. True is, I haven't seen all the movies, nor read all his books. I liked pet cemetary a lot, but didn't like the movie, I wasn't afraid, maybe a little, but it was after reading the book, and I didn't find it scary.

Out of his movies, I found scary was IT, which I haven't seen whole, since I decided not to watch it.. but there is also some other, which I decided not to see it at all (about some writer kidnapped by his fan). The description of the movie seem to scary for me.. lol

The one about the writer who gets kidnapped by his fan is Misery isn't it?
I haven't had a chance to read many books... in fact i've only really read IT, but i loved that one. The book is great, the movie is mediocre i think, but okay...
Any suggestions as to what stephen king novel i should read next?

But, if you wanna be scared a lot... Cujo is really scary.. and that Third Eye too .... so far, there is not a book called that way.. so again the language barrier.. I will find out the name of that book... ^^

I love Stephen King. My father is one of the biggest fans you could ever find. Read every horror novel he's ever written, owns them all.....I grew up with that. The Girl who Loved Tom Gordon that was the first Stephen King novel I ever read. I was 9 years old, not a very age approiate book, but my father thought I was old enough. The Eyes of the Dragon was next, which wasn't like his other horror novels. Difenatly fantasy, but there were horror vibes in it too. I was still 9 when I read that. That's probably my fravorite Stephen King book to date. 'Salems Lot and Pet Semetary when I was 10, thoses were great. They scared me to absolutly no end. Like nightmares about vampires and my cat coming back to life. Cowincidently my cat at the time looked a lot like the cat from Pet Semetary. I read a few more after that, Christene (not sure if I spelled it right), It, Firstarter, and I'm reading Cell now, that's not half bad either. I'll probably follow in my dad's shoes eventually....hey I'm only 16, I got plenty of time to read all his books.

I also like his short stories though. Thiose.....wow. Night shift, think that's the name of the book. 20 short stories in it or something like that. Can't remember the name of the stories for some reason. One about the Boogie Man, Night Shift of course, that was scary, Children of the Corn is in there too. God, Children of the Corn is just about the creepiest short story....wow. The movie was horendious....terriable, but the story gave me goosebumps.

Wow.. you will be his another fan soon... ;) My friend also has all of his books, she told me yesterday.

Melly, and what do you say on his movies? Found any that was a good one?
I watched lately the Dreamcatcher.. that was oddly done.. but I haven't read the book. Yet, there were few little things I did like on it.. hm.

I just read this thread again for the first time in ages, and I can't believe I said IT was my favourite Stephen King novel... It's one of my favourites but really my favourite is The Regulators which he wrote as Richard Bachman.

Just had to clear that up because it was bugging me! ^_^
