There are three Gakkous or School in this game, the Odd, the Egon and the Rembrandt. Then there is also the none-schooled ninjas. Although these schools are under a single command, rivalry between the ninjas is inevitable. This rivalry would sometimes create conflict. And depending upon the situation, that conflict sometimes gives birth to bloodshed.
THE SCHOOLS
The Gakkou of Egon
Egon, translated as edge of sword, practices the air techniques...They made the sky as their territory, and their Gakkou is located on Fuzei Island, hidden on the island's highest peak. The Egons are known for their stealth-and-dagger method, a highly trained Egon student can deliver death with surgical precision. Quick, silent and deadly, they stalk darkness with confidence and treachery. "Live to kill another day" is a common saying in the Egon world, because of this method, they are sometimes marked as cowards. An Egon student is not just trained to use darkness as their weapon, but they are also trained with the ways of the world and people, combining the element of charm and deadliness these Egons are the perfect assassins.
The Gakkou of Odd
Odd, translated as point of sword, practices the fire techniques. Their Gakkou is located on Hinote Island, an Island almost barren and treeless, the reason: The harsh training methods of the Odd. The Odd students are trained to control the destructive force inside them, their main element, fire shows the behavioral pattern and their battle philosophy that is "consume and destroy everything on your path." The Odd are famous for their frontal assault method, harsh physical training made them formidable foes in close combat, a single one on one (no outsmarting, just pure brawl) would mean death or a coma with multiple bone fractures and external bleeding. But because their guiding element is fire, the Odd are also known to be fiery and passionate, which sometimes causes their decisions and judgment to be clouded. The Odd are the perfect mercenaries.
The Gakkou of Rembrandt
Rembrandt, translated as advice of the sword, practices the water techniques. Their Gakkou is located on the smallest Island called Unabara. The Rembrandt have the most serene and different method of teaching from the three Gakkous, they give focus not to lethal skills but to information gathering, covert operations and strategy making. Where they lack skills in killing, they make it up with their quick decisions and sometimes, even deceiving tactics to eliminate their foe. Highly skilled Rembrandt students usually end up to be Captains in assassination squads or covert infiltration operatives, they are the perfect spies. Because of their lack in skills and their tendency to keep away from serious conflicts in school, Rembrandts became the usual subject of underestimation.
NONE-SCHOOLED NINJAS (Missing Nins)
The missing nins are either a Gakkou's drop-out or an outsider. They tend to wander the islands as they please, always being hunted and always hunting. If they are drop-outs, they still retain the skill and elemental abilities of their school. However, being missing nins they are not restricted to learn other skills and elemental abilities.
To drop-out of a Gakkou, they have to lose their merit points (post numbers) until it has reached at least -5000 points.
The schools are made to be balanced, each not being perfect, and each having their advantage, you can decide which school you want to join, as long as you respect the limits that your school has. Egon are physically weak, but are fast in movement. Odd are strong and powerful but lack the speed that Egon has, and the Rembrandts who are weak in skills and only focused to a little specialization, with only their wits as their edge. These schools co-exist with each other as fire creates air and air creates water and water could extinguish fire.
