i dont kno how popular using manual gearboxes are, but for those of you who dont but want to, im gonna do a beginners handbook kind of thing. first of all, practise on free runs and so on until you feel confident enough to use it in a race. this should enclude finding a variety of corners, and working out which gear is best (usually the one that lets you sit on the rev limiter and still make it around the corner cleanly). also, never shift up to a higher gear (1st to 2nd, and so on) while your going around a corner. that will throw your car out of the line, and will probably end up hitting the wall. also, never shift down into neutral while going around the corner, or you will come out the other side, plant your foot down, and keep slowing down thus losing valuable seconds.find a setup that you feel comfortable with before taking to the race course. its not easy to use a manual while drifting, so i would recomend avoiding drifts until you are exceptionally confident.
well, until i think up more help, good luck, and pedal to the metal!!
