OMG...January of 2014, and after having my assman compile a designated player report, he mentioned the name...Kaka. Are you kidding me???
I send my assman (20JCA, 20JPA) to scout him...no interest in signing with the club. Fine, let him stay at Real Madrid.
Fast forward a week, and I receive a news item:
"R.Madrid offer Kaka"
He's currently making $16.75million/year, and I have just under $3million in allocation money. I throw caution to the wind and accept the offer, paying $2.5million up front with $3.2mil payable over two years (apparently the board won't open the extra money to bring him in one payment...what a joke!)
Real accepts the offer!!! Sweet zombie Christmas!!!
Hmm...time to offer a contract. What's that, Kaka, you want $8.5mil/year for two years to sign with me? Why sure, let me just-OOOPS! The board apparently doesn't deem you worthy of that...let me get creative here. How's about $6.5million per year, for five years? No bonuses...but I'm willing to give $3.8million to your agent. Sound good?
HOLY CRAP IT WORKS. Kaka will join my lowly TFC (I had set them to have the lowest rep in MLS at about 5,000, and have won one Champion's League and MLS Cup so far) in one week. Wow.
He's old and expensive, but should be interesting to see how he works out!
