Happy I stumbled onto this site, hope to make it a regular home.
An editing question: Does anyone know where the MLS transfer rules are housed? (i.e., which category or field I need to search for in the editor.)
Specifically, I want to tweak the "33% of this player's next transfer fee goes to MLS" clause that is getting attached to all my players, regardless of how, where and when I've acquired them. It's popping up every time I go to sell someone.
(Yes, I know this is diverting from real life. But I'm playing with a modified database I downloaded elsewhere, so I'm in fantasy land already. The truth is, I don't see where MLS is ADDING anything to my club's financial situation -- but MLS sure is TAKING from me every time I sell a player. It's killing my finances and impeding my buying/selling strategies.)
Thanks!
HN
Don't think that it can be changed. Im pretty sure that it is hard coded into the game.
I have another issue related to these MLS clauses.
Has anyone experienced FM "doubling up" the MLS transfer-fee share when you sell a player? In other words, taking 66% rather than the standard 33%?
It's a bug I've encountered many times now, in a couple of different forms:
-- With some player sales where an initial fee + monthly installments are involved, the initial fee gets properly nicked for 33%, but then the installments get nicked for 66% each month.
-- With some other sales of that kind, the 66% is getting improperly applied both times: on the monthly installments AND on the initial fee.
Mind you, FM isn't actively telling me that it's taking 66% -- in fact, I still get the standard message with each sale reminding me that "MLS get 33% of Player X transfer fee." It's just that when I go peruse my finances, that's how the math comes out. The figure is always correct in the "Players Sold" column of my monthly "Income" list -- I'm receiving what I'm supposed to receive for players sold. But in the "Players Bought" column of my "Expenditures" list (which is where sell-on payouts are recorded*), the figures are double what they should be -- a 66% chunk rather than 33%.
It's destroying my budget.
(* This is a good time for this little rant: "Players Bought" is a really dumb spot for FM to itemize sell-on fees. There's no "player buying" involved when I'm paying sell-on fees for players I've sold. Judging from what I've seen around the web, this causes a ton of confusion. Not sure why it would be hard to just add a "Sell-On Fees" line on the Expenditures page.)
