OOC: Sorry, guys. I was in Calgary Saturday/Sunday/Monday, and then school came.
IC: Interception? No, I don't think so. After all, the post is flown in directly by the owls - there aren't any content scans. So it could go either way. Horrible prank - or horrible reality. Madison was about to relate these thoughts when the class bell rang. Automatically, she joined Tomoyo and Eowyn as they filed into the classroom, trying not to attract attention. Of course, the occupants of the classroom turned to gaze at the trio suspiciously. "See you in DADA, fourth period," Madison muttered out of the corner of her mouth. Last night, she'd thought it was a good idea to memorize the timetable - so she had. As Flitwick brought the class to order, Madison strode quickly to her desk and slipped in beside Terry. Quizzically, he asked, "What was that all about? Those are your friends from the train, right?" Madison nodded, lifting her Charms book from her bag and thumping it open on the desk. "Yes. Well, one of them I wouldn't exactly consider a friend - you know, the Slytherin - but yes, I met them on the train." She hesitated for a second, pretending to be searching for parchment and a quill. Does he need to know? It's Tomoyo's personal business, after all. "It was nothing," she added, lying effortlessly, "She misplaced a book on the train, and she wanted to see if one of us had it. Luckily, Eowyn found it lying in her trunk this morning." At that moment, Flitwick started his lesson, which prevented Madison from having to invent any other fictional tales. With a smile of anticipation, she turned to face the little wizened man, all thoughts of threat and trickery forgotten. --- Immediately after Charms had been Transfiguration - Madison knew from the moment she walked in the door that she would love McGonagall's class. During Herbology, however, Madison managed to get soil stains on her new robe and walk backwards into a plant that sported fangs. By the time fourth period came around, Madison was more than ready for a good DADA lesson. When she arrived in the dimly lit classroom, she was sorely disappointed. The professor was a stuttering, thin man with a turban. He looked as if he had had one too many run-ins with the Dark Arts, and the results of those unfortunate experiences seemed to have been a shattered composure and almost humorous paranoia. Madison, looking around anxiously for Tomoyo and Eowyn, sat next to Terry again when she failed to find them. Lunch, she promised herself. I'll find them at lunch. But when she grabbed a quill from her book bag, she found something slipped in the side pocket that worried her intensely. A note. Stay away from the mudblood if you know what's good for you - and for her. Remember, the sooner she runs to a teacher for help, the sooner she dies. Hastily shoving the note beneath her extra parchment, the startled Ravenclaw took several deep breaths and pushed the contents of the note to the back of her mind. Lunch. At lunch, we'll discuss this, and everything will be fine. "This man is teaching us?" Terry said incredulously. "Professor? He looks more like he belongs in St. Mungo's!" Madison couldn't agree more. The first five minutes of class only confirmed her opinion. Ten minutes more of the stuttering speeches, and she felt like running up to the front of the room and tearing the little man's turban off. -------------------- Hope fades.

OOC: Ummm Rita? Sorry to be nitpicky, but what does the timetable that you have for Ravenclaw say u have during periods 2 and 3... cause the one you sent me has Transfiguration and Herbology for those periods, not HoM... *sweatdrop* I'll write really really soon!

OOC: Huh, that's weird. I thought I had HOM before Charms, but I just checked the schedule and apparently I don't. *goes off to edit post*

Charms took forever to finish. Once they all returned to their seats, Professor Flitwick went in to a large speech about how Charms was important and how it started, blah blah blah. Éowyn thought about everything but charms. The subject seemed so boring. Whee! Let’s send things flying around, and make each other laugh and cry and all those stupid things like that...
Their first class of the school year came to a close, and the Slytherins headed outside to the greenhouses for Herbology. An energetic woman with graying hair greeted them all just outside of the greenhouse labeled "1." She too gave a speech about how plants were important to the wizarding world. Éowyn and Willow stood at the back of the small group, talking about the jinxes that they wanted to try out on some of the other girls later that day. History of Magic was a class that they all wished they would never experience again. As soon as they sat in a seat, a ghost, who apparently was their teacher, began to speak in a quiet monotone about the first days of magic. "Well, at least he didn't start with a speech like the rest of the nutcases," Amy stated loudly. Half the class snickered, and Professor Binns kept on talking, completely oblivious to the fact that almost no one was listening to him. "This stinks," came a voice from the table of boys to their left. "Yeah!" replied Tanya, her head buried in a book. A small crane floated up towards the teacher and floated through his head, soon crumpling on the blackboard behind him. Binns droned on. When he finally finished his spiel, and the class was drawing to a close, three of the boys were rolling on the floor in a fight that started with an argument about whose hair was nicer, and the girls were either laughing or comparing shoes. "Attention, class!" he called, but his voice failed to reach them. They filed into an almost full Defense Against the Dark Arts class, and they took up some of the seats that were left on the far side of the classroom. A thin man stood up at the front of the room in a turban that made his head look far too small. He stuttered his way through the class list. He paused at the name "Harry Potter." Many people who were unaware of the fact that "the boy who lived" was in their class gasped. The Sytherins booed. The class finally commenced, and Éowyn waited longingly for lunchtime. -------------------- The Future is Newt.

OOC: Gah, I'm so so so so so so..........so sorry! Nutcases, speech/harmony teachers are, all of them!
IC: Tomoyo sighed. DADA was supposed to be a fun class. It was where you learned how to shoot fire at things, how to curse people, how to.....well, how was it taught by a man who looked afraid of his own shadow?! The violet haired girl shook her head to keep the disappointment from showing on her face. At least transfiguration was interesting. Professor McGonagall had made a short and therefore tolerable speech on what transfiguration was, then took out a flowered teacup, much to the class's curiosity. Then, she drew out her wand and muttered a few words, tapping it lightly three times. Suddenly, it morphed before the students' eyes into a brightly coloured bird which ruffled its wings before taking off around the room. Tomoyo could hardly take her eyes off the cup-turned-bird as it flew to their transfirguration professor. Sadly, McGonagall tapped it again once it landed, and it returned to its original form as a small cup dotted with flowers. With just that one display, the japanese gryffindor knew this was to be her favorite class. But now, with a stuttering man as their DADA teacher, she slumped in her chair and put her head in her arms. Might as well use the time to get some rest while he made the same speech as every other professor- the history of that class. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ A nudge in her side and the loud ring of the bell woke the girl up as Dean whispered that it was time for lunch. "I know it was boring, but you sure snore loud!" he joked, earning himself a punch in the arm. "I do not snore!" she whispered back indignantly, placing her books neatly into her bag before following him into the crowd of students eagerly moving towards the Great hall to fill the grumbling hole that was currently thier stomachs. But a crinkling sound caught her attention as a parchment bent in her pocket, and she once again remembered the threat that hung over her and the other muggles of the school. She paused. Dean, who was talking about a painting he did, stopped and turned when he realized that he was talking to air. "I just remembered, I have to do something," Tomoyo uttered quickly before running off into the crowd again. He just rolled his eyes. Was it just him, or did she always do that in the middle of their conversations? Glasses...look for glasses! And how hard can yellow eyes be to find? Only one person has them! The violet eyed girl thought as she ran through the mass of students, occasionally standing on tiptoe to try and peer over the heads who were taller than her. A thought had occurred to her a while ago...had anyone else gotten a letter? She couldn't be the only muggle or half-blood in the school. But then how come no one else seemed worried? Finally, she spotted her two friends in the main isle between the four tables, and pushed her way to them, calling sorry's in every direction as people glared at her. "Eowyn! Madison!" she shouted over the chaos of hungry students and clattering dishes. "We need to talk." -------------------- Close the world, txEn eht nepO

OOC: No problem; let's just RP a lot over the long weekend.
Oh, and you guys: ignore what I've said before in terms of description. Madison is now a lot shorter, because I just couldn't imagine her tall. Her hair is straight, dark, and brown, usually tied up in a braid or worn down. And she has angular glasses framing hazel eyes. Actually, she sort of looks like a younger version of Annie from Isobel Bird's Circle of Three books: picture here. IC: When the bell rang, signalling the end of the first morning, Professor Quirrel dropped his leather-bound book and sprang three feet into the air. The students, streaming out of the classroom, ignored him as he twittered among scattered papers on the floor. "I think we'd learn more this year if we sat in the classroom and read the textbook," Madison muttered under her breath as she and Terry hurried out of the classroom. In the well-lit bustle of the hallway, she took a few deep breaths - both to clear the stupor from her mind and to clear Quirrel's strange garlic scent from her nose. Terry snorted derisively. "We could always murder him. Judging from what I've seen so far, I reckon it'd be easy." Involuntarily, a smile spread across Madison's face. She shook her head ruefully and trailed behind Terry, forcing his way through the crowd of excited students. Minutes later, she and Terry trotted into the Great Hall. Pushing through the crowds had skewed Madison's glasses and messed her hair slightly. Just having so many people around will take a bit of getting used to... They jogged down the aisle between the tables, keeping an eye out for a group of the first-year Ravenclaws. Madison, you WILL talk to them. You'll get to know them, because seven years here not knowing anyone would be a living nightmare. Fresh start. Go for it. It was something that had been on her mind all summer: a new school meant a fresh start, and new people who didn't already think of her as "that quiet kid who reads a lot". It meant a new chance. "Eowyn! Madison!" A familiar voice cut into her musings. Tomoyo stood in the midst of the tables, trying to get their attention. Her stomach dropped. Right. The notes. How could I have forgotten? "Terry, I... sorry, I'll talk to you later," she excused herself quickly. "Potions after lunch, hey?" Terry shrugged. "All right, I'll save you a seat just in case. Don't tell me you're planning to eat lunch with those two, it's not-" But the rest of his sentence was drowned out by the crowd. Madison could, of course, have predicted how that sentence would end. It's not done. It's simply not done... "Tomoyo, hi." Arriving at the Asian girl's shoulder, she cast around in the crowd for a certain Slytherin. "I suppose I should tell Eowyn, too, since she's involved in this. Can we go somewhere a little more... private? And quiet?" -------------------- Hope fades.
