The citizens of 1978 have had a surge of unexpected visitors come their way, though most of them aren't aware of what has happened. Forty years in the future, a young couple with a little too much time and power on their hands had a bit of a goof-up, and managed to send everyone within a fifty-foot radius around them back in time... a time when Voldemort's first reign was in full swing.
Will the friends and family from the future be able to let everything happen as it was supposed to, or will they interfere and possibly change their own futures? Will they even still exist thanks to their interference?
This is up to you, as you decide what extreme measures you're willing to go...

extremeAPPLICATIONS
a basic how-to guide
(Updated: 09/10/07)

Also note: this has yet to be updated since the re-formatting of the application template. It will be updated soon, and most of the same information is all still here, it's just formatted a little differently and there's a couple new things on the new template.
  • Characters ::

    Canons vs. Original Characters: We are currently accepting original and canon characters.

    Adults: The majority of our canons are adult characters, and as such, the majority of the plot revolves around adult characters. Keep in mind, all future-characters must be at least seventeen and graduated.

    Students: There are a couple canon students. Because there are only a handful of these, we're not going to make a whole bunch of forums for the Hogwarts castle as a roleplay space. There will be one or two forums for the castle and they will be fairly generalized.

  • Steps to Join ::

    • Read the Rules ::
      Make sure you read all the rules, and make sure you understand them. Guest posting is enabled in the 'Help' forum should you have any questions that need answering.

    • Familiarize Yourself With the Site ::
      Check the place out, and make sure you want to join.

    • Register A Screen Name ::
      Make sure its your character's name!

    • Post Your Application ::
      Make sure you've posted it in the correct format and in the correct forum on the board (auditions)!

    • Wait ::
      Wait for your application to be approved. While you're waiting, validating accounts can post anywhere in the Out Of Character forums, plus there's the tagboard. Don't worry, you won't be waiting long. Admins check the board daily for new applicants!

  • After You're Accepted ::

    • Claim Your Avatar ::
      Be sure you've claimed the celebrity, model, or various other source that you are using to represent your character. Nearly all canon characters have a suggested celebrity claim, but you must still validate this claim if you choose to keep the person suggested.

    • Set Up Your Character's Relationship Plotting ::
      Your character will need a page to keep track of the relationships (s)he has, and also to set up previous relationships with other characters on the board.

    • Begin Roleplaying ::
      Start a new thread or reply to someone's waiting thread!

extremeAPPLICATIONS
adult applications
(Updated: 09/10/07)

To join extremeMEASURES, you must post the following form in the following format, so be careful to pay attention. If the application is not in the correct format, and follows the guidelines outlined in this breakdown, then the application will be denied until you've read this and can do it properly.
  • Application Title ::

    The topic of your title should be your character's last name, then their first name. If it is not in this format you will not be accepted, the only thing will be said is 'Please go re-read the rules.'
    • For Adult ::

      Topic Title: DOE, Jane
      Topic Description: (alliance)

All information about one character should be posted in a single topic with horizontal lines where indicated.

    • Your Experience ::
      How long have you been roleplaying? We're curious!

      Do you have any messengers by which you wouldn't mind being contacted by an admin or a board member about anything? (Optional)

    About Your Character ::

      Your character's name, obviously. Must be first and last name, middle name optional (if there is a middle name listed on the canon list, it must appear here as well.

    • Age ::
      Your character's age, remember that it must coordinate with the year mentioned below.

    • Description ::
      Height: Character's height in ft/inches. Remember that height and weight are relative to each other. If you're not sure what's appropriate, I suggest looking up a height/weight ratio chart. There's lots on the net, if you can't find one, ask a staff member. They'll probably be able to find you one.
      Weight: Character's weight in lbs.
      Eye Color: Color of eyes.
      Hair Color & Style: Short? Long? Straight? Curly? Brown? Red? Blonde?

      Photo: If you wish to provide us with a photo of your character, then please do so. However, it must be a photo of a real person, no cartoons, drawings, or animes. We prefer it if you have a picture, but it's not required to get accepted. If you search for model company websites, its easy to get pictures from there. If you have a photo, you must still fill out the rest of the description.

    • Personality ::
      Strengths: List your character's strengths here. This must be a personality trait. "Flying, transfiguration" are not personality traits. You should have at least one, but three is recommended.
      Weaknesses: Your character's weaknesses. You must have at least one, and you must have at least one for every strength you have. Skills: Very much like strengths and weaknesses, except these are skills. So, if your character is very good at transfiguration, then list that here. You should have at least one, but three is recommended.
      Inabilities: Same as weaknesses, only the opposite of skills. There must be as many inabilities as skills, and you must have at least one. Hobbies: List at least one of your character's hobbies.

    • Occupation ::
      Job: What do you do?
      Place of Employment: Where do you work?.
      Position: What level are you at/what specifically do you do?
      Longevity:: How long your character has worked there.

Try to answer each with complete sentences. Things like Name, Age, Year and basic things like that don't need sentences. Strengths, weaknesses, skills and inabilities should either be one-word answers or complete sentences, preferrably not somewhere in between. And remember, adjectives are your friends.

      Erised: What is your character's greatest desire?
      Dementor: What is your character's worst memory? What moment do they relieve when faced with a Dementor?
      Overall Personality: What does your character act like? You should include the following points, good traits, bad traits, and any habits or quirks that your character possesses that you haven’t already mentioned and/or explained. We won't set a minimum length on this, but we are looking for it to be complete. If there seems to be a lot of things unanswered about your character, we'll ask you to lengthen it a bit and answer some of thoese questions. Remember to keep this as canon as possible. With created-canons, there will be one or two hints about their personality that you must incorporate, but other than that you have free reign.

    • Character Background Information ::
      Birth Date: When was your character born? All canon characters have a set birth year, though most have a set birthdate as well, some are flexible.
      Blood Status: Pure blood? Muggle born? Half 'n' Half? All canon characters have a set blood status.
      Parents: Who are your character's parents? Are they dead or alive? Give us a brief description of them, and your character's relationship toward them. Try not to overdo the orphans thing. If they have more than one set of parents, make sure the birth parents are listed first, followed by any others (ie. step parents, or adoptive parents).
      Siblings: Does your character have any siblings? Are they living? Give us a brief description of them, and your character's relationship toward them.
      Biography: Include things about your character, interesting facts and stuff. To make this interesting, you could add the following; your character's birthplace, small things about your character's childhood, and one or more specific event(s) that happened to your character pre-Hogwarts that helped in shaping their personality or something about them. Keep in mind that I don't want to see any "I just moved here" stories. They are far too common in characters, especially in older years and it doesn't really make sense that half the students 'just moved here.' Besides, I don't recall seeing any new students in the books that weren't first years.
      Also, the same goes as with the description. We aren't setting a minimum length, but we want it to feel complete. If there are still questions about your character that we have, we will ask you to lengthen this part and answer those questions.

    • Pet ::
      For each separate pet, redo all three of these blanks. Only one pet may be kept at school with the student.
      Name: The pet's name
      Type: The type of pet & it's breed. Keep in mind that any pet kept at the school should be either an owl, rat, or toad. You may list pets kept at home here, but make sure it is noted that they are in fact, at home.
      Appearance: Any markings or anything like that.

    • Wand ::
      Flexibility: The flexibility of your wand.
      Length: Typically wands are from 5-18 inches long.
      Wood: There are many different types of woods wands can be made from..
      Core Substance: Typically, wands only have one core substance (if your wand came from Ollivander’s, it MUST have dragon heartstring, phoenix tailfeather or unicorn hair for the core). There are more places than only Ollivander's to buy wands from though.

    • Sample Roleplay ::
      This Sample Roleplay MUST be posted in your application (it can be erased once you've been accepted).
      It must be at least 300 words long.

      Once you have been accepted, you may delete the role-playing sample from your profile
