The citizens of 1978 have had a surge of unexpected visitors come their way, though most of them aren't aware of what has happened. Forty years in the future, a young couple with a little too much time and power on their hands had a bit of a goof-up, and managed to send everyone within a fifty-foot radius around them back in time... a time when Voldemort's first reign was in full swing.
Will the friends and family from the future be able to let everything happen as it was supposed to, or will they interfere and possibly change their own futures? Will they even still exist thanks to their interference?
This is up to you, as you decide what extreme measures you're willing to go...

SEVERUS SNAPE
an artist in the world of potion making

SARCASTIC • BITTER • ALONE
    the basics
Name : Severus Tobias Snape
Nickname : Snivellus, Half-Blood Prince, Sev
Age : Eighteen
Alliance : Death Eater
    the description
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 145 lbs
Eye Color: Black
Hair Color/Style: Black / Shoulder length
Distinguishing Marks: Dark Mark ; forearm
Overall Appearance: In reality, Severus is an interesting man when it comes to his appearance. Often described by others as a bat or a vampire, he's intimidating and, no doubt, uses that to his advantage. He stands at a good six feet and an inch tall with slender, sometimes considered rather narrow, shoulders and a lithe frame. In earlier years, he was more stringy, but has managed to gain a barely-there tone from self-determination and recruitment into Voldemort's rankings.

His hair is long - reaching his shoulders. It's black and soft, not-so-shiny, and appears greasy from the constant exposure to various potion fumes. He is, after all, a master of potions, right? It's cut in layers, more likely than not, and is quite thick. One thing it contrasts with greatly, giving the vampire-related tales some body, is his flesh. Snape is an extremely pale individual who seems to prefer areas where sunlight doesn't have much of a habit of dominating. Pale as death, some would say, and others, a dangerously unique shade of porcelain white. The only skin ever exposed that appears otherwise is the spot on his left forearm; it's where the Dark Mark taints him to the most rotten piece of his heart.

His eyes are black too, and they glitter with violence and benevolence matched by a rare few. Like darkened, most glacial, ice or freezing waters, he has a tendency to look at someone and simply...glower. They are unfeeling and empty of emotion at nearly all hours - seldom showing the world weakness. Along with the constant downward curl of his thing mouth, he doesn't appear to be too happy of a man. The tiniest air of femininity rolls over him in waves despite this, though. Long slender fingers as white as fresh snow, a prominently sculpted face, and longer legs and torso.

He moves like a cat treading on the most fragile eggshells. It's as if he's gliding and swirls his robes dramatically like no other. Darkness engulfs his very being, and there's no escaping that type of darkness once it pulls you in. Full of anger, pride, and undeniable bitterness, Severus Snape looks like one surely nobody would mess with.

Overall Personality: Severus Tobias Snape is a young, but powerful man. Involved in the Darker side of things, he always had a penchant for the Dark Arts. Before schooling at Hogwarts even began, he'd managed to learn for himself uncountable numbers of curses. He invented his own, too, showing him to be more than the ordinary wizard. Filled to the brim with a sorrowful, not to mention rather piteous, past, Severus is a dangerous, hateful man. He's intelligent too.

Companionable in only the most silent library and in the most equipped, well-learned potions labs, Snape is a brooding genius. He hates most of the world, blames himself and others for his past mistakes and family history. He's only loved one, and that one, Lily Evans, doesn't love him back. He feels regret for never telling her, and it shows him to hold at least one shred of humanity. He's still human. Even so, he holds himself at a level few others can achieve. A Dark Wizard that doesn't really want to pick a side in the war, but is tempted so greatly by the "magnificent" Lord Voldemort, is a Death Eater, kills other witches and wizards and magical creatures, and seems to feel so little. Though, of course, we all know better than that. His one love!

Snape pretends that he doesn't care about other people and what they say, but in truth, he is either angry over it or mortified. His personal habits and opinions could very well mean the world to him, and he would find great happiness if he was accepted, at least by Lily, for them. But he knows that can't, or rather won't happen any time soon. He throws countless emotions away on a daily basis - thinking "who needs them?" because he certainly doesn't. Smooth as marble, cold as ice, and carries a temper as hot as a blue flame, Snape does! Once you dig under that calm, collected surface, you never know what you'll find.

Biography: Severus Snape was born January 9, 1960 to Tobias Snape, a muggle, and the witch Eileen Prince. They lived in a somewhat rundown home on a corner of Spinner's End. A small river near them was a bit rundown as well, dirty, contaminated, like the relationship between his parents. Constantly, they'd fight and scream and his father became an abusive man. At first, he only struck Eileen, but slowly, learning of his wife's nature and that of his only child, hit Severus as well. Often, Snape would sit alone in a dark corner, head bowed and weeping, as he listened to another throw-down, knock-out fight between mother and father. It dampened his spirit, inspired sarcasm, and made him one of the darkest in soul.

During his free time, Severus was educated in all things literature and basic potion making. His mother was a strong-willed woman, however silent she had a habit of being, and brought him to a level no other reached by the age of nine. Dark Arts was apparently something that became a powerful interest of his, and no doubt, Prince encouraged it. He picked up spells and curses, things of such a horrid nature, that many adults shunned. Though, he found nothing but utmost pleasure in things such as that. And then, he met his neighbor.

She was that first friend some part of him simply yearned to have. Fiery red hair, a sharp tongue, and emerald eyes, Lily Evans was a pretty girl. The two of them became close quickly and shared one another's secrets. Lily spoke of strange events and an awkward feeling within her, and Severus, well, he explained. He excitedly shared magic and their special abilities, spoke of Hogwarts, and things that her sister, Petunia, could never have. There were a few bad times between them, most involving Lily's sister, but otherwise, things were perfect. Snape's best, and only, friend received her letter to Hogwarts at age eleven just like he'd said she would. Together, they decided, they'd wander into the wizarding world. Together, they spoke of the four Hogwarts Houses. They chattered up Slytherin and Gryffindor, the rivalry between them, and the hope they ended up in the "stronger" House of Salazar. But things never seemed to go the way Snape planned them.

Upon reaching Hogwarts, Lily and he were separated. Severus was placed exactly where he'd told himself he'd be - in Slytherin. Lily, on the other hand, was sorted into Gryffindor. No doubt, she was as upset about it as he was. They vowed to keep their friendship a secret between themselves and carry on despite the rivalry of the snake and lion. He was taken under the wing of the charismatic Lucius Malfoy, and Lily, she gained the attention of the Marauders. Of them, Snape found he hated James Potter and Sirius Black the most. Dogs, they were, and never let a chance to torment him go. Pranksters and devilish in their tricks, he was constantly humiliated by them. He was internally grateful that Lily despised the pair from the start of their first year.

Even that, though, changed with time. Hanging upside down for all of the student body to see his undergarments, Lily attempted to come to his rescue. In some ways, Petunia's constant, and quite bothersome, warnings seemed to click in about Severus then. He was so embarrassed and angry thathe spat out the first insult that came to mind. The most unfortunate thing was that it was directed to Lily - someone he cared about more than he could say.

"Mudblood!"

She never forgave him, Potter's influence becoming too great. He asked her to marry him and she accepted. The alliances shifted and Lily became a mother figure to the majority of the Marauders. Lucius graduated and left him alone, a selective few Slytherins becoming acquaintances of his in the Malfoy heir's departure. They all graduated, Severus enticed by the new Dark Lord, and became Death Eaters. ily was never forgotten, but pushed to the back of his mind. He didn't want to think of her and replaced his adoration and affection with a forced hatred he couldn't explain to himself.

    the roleplay sample
An empty smirk gradually curled over Severus' pale lips. It was all a facade he was too stubborn to drop. His obsidian eyes glittered with something he wouldn't, didn't, want to explain. Lily Evans had been his life since the age of nine, and even glancing over his shoulder at her, now, made his entire chest ache. His heart beat painfully against his ribcage, but he thrust it back violently. He wanted to squash the urge to talk to the red-haired woman as soon as he could. What good would it do him now? A Death Eater? The smirk grew in its intensity and he let malevolence force its way into his gaze. Emerald flashed across his line of vision, but he wouldn't stop. It wasn't allowed to drop - that emotional mask of his.

Slender fingers tightened their grasp on his wand. It remained in his robes, of course, but he'd go as far as to hex the woman if she even attempted to speak. Her voice...he couldn't hear it. It just wouldn't do. It would grate on his ears and stick in his brain like the worst bloody pest he could imagine up. Later on, his eyes would itch with something he didn't want to ever allow, and his throat would constrict of its own accord. It made him want to wrap his hands around her small, fragile neck and just squeeze. But he couldn't. Could he? No, of course not. Not her, Severus, not her. You couldn't do it, so stop lying to yourself.

His whole body turned sharply in a single fluid motion. If he didn't look at her, the pain eased itself down somewhat. As a Potter, no longer an Evans, she was untouchable. The grip on his wand tightened further, fingers twitching at the pressure, and his teeth ground together slowly. His face was sheer agony - pure, unadulterated hatred and anguish. More than ever, he was certain that her expression was nothing in comparison to the one he held deep inside. She could look betrayed and hurt and upset all she wanted. She didn't feel like he did. She didn't know, would never know, and had herself a man. A Potter. James Potter, actually. Severus wished that that man had never barreled his way through their lives like he had. Everything could've been different. His mind threw itself back to the pranks at Hogwarts, being humiliated in front of the school, calling Lily a mudblood, her expression of such surprise...

Why?

It was a simple question he was frightened to answer - even if he couldn't admit that he was afraid even to himself. Things had...gone the way they did for a reason and he would do nothing to "remedy" them now. He tilted his chin proudly, anger flashing once more against his usually blank features. Lily Potter meant nothing. They weren't classmates as school was done, and they weren't allies. She was Light and he part of the Dark. There was nothing to hold them together any longer. It was better that way, he guessed, since the gods above obviously wished it so.

He took a step to forward, then another and another. Quickly, his movements became graceful, long strides she'd have to run to keep up with. He released his wand so it could sit in his pocket unaccompanied, and brushed invisible dust from his black robes. Simply put, his mind let him know that the farther away he managed to get from the redhead, the better. He was so much better off without a reminder of such a nasty past.

"Insolent wench," he hissed, pushing past a middle-aged couple at the sales counter. His potion supply could be restocked another day. It wasn't as if he was in dire need of anything in particular anyway.
