The Crystal Senshi, Those who change the times....

ORIGINS OF THE CRYSTAL SENSHI:

Long ago, before even the dawn of the Silver Millenium, the planets of the solar system existed in turmoil. Crime and war plagued the worlds, often incited by the forces of Chaos. At long last, after the eleventh planet, Atlas, was destroyed (causing Charon and Pluto to both be leveled and pushed partially out of their orbits), the remaining worlds formed a unified council to govern them. The council itself proved useless, as the aeon-old differences between them proved difficult to set aside. The laws they did manage to pass were only ignored, just as any other. Enforcing them had been left to the planets themselves, which proved to be completely ineffective.

As another war began to loom, the council decided to take a drastic step. Each world was to send their top warriors to Luna, the moon in orbit around Earth that served as the neutral site the council met on. Here, the warriors would be trained and empowered with magick, enhancing their own abilities. Thus was created an elite army, independant of all political powers, and charged with enforcing the law.

While this proved effective for common law, there were certain threats that required overwhelming force to combat. For these, a smaller team was established, the elite of the elite: the senshi.

The process of creating the senshi took decades, as only one person in each world was capable of wielding their world's greatest power. Often, they were so hard to locate, that they would already have died of old age by the time they were identified.

The first to be found, however, WAS obvious. Each destined warrior exemplified their planet's best skill... Mercury's Wisdom, Venus's beauty, Mars's dedication, Jupiter's strength, and so on. For the planet Apollo, situated between Mars and Jupiter, it was a duality of nature: beautiful and refined, but also an exceedingly skilled warrior. These traits were located in the daughter of Apollo's greatest general... a tomboy, who wanted to follow in her father's footsteps, but who was forced to instead learn the 'respectable' fields any noblewoman should know.

Located swiftly, she served as the first senshi: Sailor Apollo.

Apollo served alone for about two years, before the first Sailor Jupiter was discovered. A few months later, a Venus was located. The locations of Jupiter and Venus would, unfortunately, begin the trend of the new senshi being unknowns in remote places. The first Venus had been a cheerleader at a rural Venusian high school, while the first Jupiter had been an orphan girl, working at a dock on Juno's great sea.

The team of Apollo, Jupiter, and Venus served for two decades. Just as they were considering retirement, a Saturn was found, allowing the second generation of senshi to be a team of four. Two generations later, a Mars was located, and three generations afterwards, a Mercury. Now with a team of six, and the lines of succession finally starting to be perfected, the senshi began to work in earnest. Beforehand, they had been been trying to contain or repulse threats to the peace. Now, they began to eliminate them, and even prevent them. They came to be known as the first true Senshi team, and thus were called the Creation Senshi.


Centuries later, with a full team of 10 elite planetary senshi, and a legion of lesser senshi, what had once been basically a special ops team was now the full corp. As the dawn of the Silver Millenium neared, the Senshi Corps that was in existance began to face ever-increasing uprisings. The strict enforcement of laws, and the swift and devestating justice that was inflicted on offenders, began to be resented by the people. While Chaos was partly to blame, at least for instigating the revolution, the Senshi themselves were also to blame. They had grown merciless and arrogant, carrying out their duties with particularly icy insensitivity. The guardians had become the oppressors. The Senshi were so conceited, in fact, that when rumors spread about new senshi candidates arising, they ignored them as meaningless gossip and propaganda.

But this was far, far from the case. New senshi were, indeed, awakening... a new generation, created by the approaching era. In time, they were brought together... becoming the Crystal Fighters, and Crystal Senshi. Led by Sailor Diamond, the Crystal Senshi advocated the principles upon which the original senshi had been founded, but that enforcing them should be left to the citizens themselves. And thus began a great conflict, the first true battle between senshi teams: the Crystal Wars.

While it didn't take long for the Corps to be driven from most of the planets, there was one world that supported them: Apollo. Thus, the Senshi Corps made Apollo its stronghold, and it was there that a stalemate was reached. Fighting with their backs to the wall, the dying Senshi Corp held out for five years in a bloody war that laid waste to what was formerly the shining jewel of the solar system.

Eventually, with the amount of energy being thrown back and forth, the planet began to destabilize. The massive amounts of power being cast against each other knocked one life sphere after another out of balance, and the resulting pull between the separating energies... between light, dark, and neutral.... began to pull the world's very existance out of phase. As the Crystal fighters fled the crumbling world, the Senshi Corps regrouped at Apollo's royal palace. Rather than live in a world where they would be prisoners, where they would be obsolete and unwanted, they decided to die with their era.

It is said that, as the land around them crumbled, the elite senshi merely watched from the palace's throne room. Neptune played her piano as they waited, while Mercury and Pluto played chess. They sipped ancient wine, even as the barren red land around them began to break apart, and float into the sky. As the palace grounds finally began to split, and the castle to sink into the abyss, Apollo paused with her glass to her lips, knowing her homeworld's death was near. She remarked that the world they knew was now dead, and so were they. Brief seconds later, the planet detonated.

And so it was that the glory of both the Senshi Corps and Apollo faded from the galaxy.

As the swirling energies of the shattered planet faded, a single beacon shone through the darkness. There, at what had once been the planet's core, a small gem floated in the void. The lifeforce of Apollo.... the starseeds of the ultimately pure-hearted Senshi Corps.... the souls of those who had fought and died on that once beautiful planet.... all of it had been compacted at the moment of death, in the middle of an energy void. A perfect sphere, faceted all over, and giving off a rainbow when exposed to the light.......

The Ginzuishou... the Mystical Silver Crystal.

The lifeless remains of the planet continued following its orbit, and, in time, became the asteroid belt. With the Senshi Corp gone, and peace settling across the solar system, the Planetary Council relenquished much of its power to the citizens. Seeking a person to unify the war-weary worlds into the new era, they appointed the lunarian Sailor Diamond as sovereign of the new kingdom. At her corronation, Diamond revealed that she was, in fact, the incarnation of the Moon Goddess, Selene. Thus, Queen Serenity was corronated, and her comrades took up positions as guardians of the queen and the council. When the time came for them to retire, their successors resumed the planetary naming system, being as they possessed the planetary starseeds. Now that peace was settling, the Senshi served as not only guardians, but also representatives of their home planets... thus, their families ascended to the long-vacant thrones of the planets, reviving the feudal tradition. For the next thousand years, the Moon Kingdom would stand as the fair and just ruler sovereign of the solar system..... as the Silver Millenium began....



With the new senshi in place, and the future mostly secured as a peaceful one, the Crystal Senshi passed on one by one, their starseeds returning to the galactic cauldron. It was believed that they would rest there for all eternity, since they were a bit redundant when coupled with the Inners.... and thus they did at first. However, when Sailor Galaxia was purified, and led the starseeds of all the senshi she had slain back to the cauldron, the massive influx of crystals entering and leaving caused several dormant ones to be revived as well. Among these were the Crystal Senshi....

By the time the destined bearers of the crystals were born, the great cataclysm had already come to pass. And thus, the girls grew up in poverty, squallor, and turmoil. Ignorant of their powers, and unaware of the princess's destiny, they entered adolescence with deep-seated hatred of the queen and what she had done.... just as so many others had. The difference between them, however, was that the Crystal Senshi would come to awaken into their old selves, regaining their old powers, and feeling their original mission burning within them. To protect the world, to free it from oppression, and to take down any government that would put itself above the people.... this was their charge. And with their sights set upon Neo-Queen Serenity, they joined the people in resisting her.... determined to help bring about a new age....

Bio: The kindest of the Crystal Senshi, Hikari is the innocent, the one who loves puppies and bunnies, and literally wouldn't harm a fly. Unfortunately, she's a bit TOO innocent, and isn't fully aware of what's going on around her. Growing up in the ruins of Tokyo, she has heard nothing but anti-royal sentiment all her life, and thus holds that the queen is, indeed, a bad ruler, but in a childlike manner. Often she can be heard pondering aloud why it is that no one has simply asked Neo-Queen Serenity to step down.... and, just as often, it incurs the wrath of someone nearby, which sends her scurrying for cover. Speaking and moving in continual grace, she is the flawless jewel that completes the Crystal team... and also holds the greatest power of any of them. However, due to her complete and utter lack of battle senses, and her overly-simplistic world view, she more often than not ends up being protected from the others. Ceyx's personal student and "apprentice", she is usually found standing at his side, quietly watching as he speaks to others.....

Weapon(s):
Crescent Moon Wand - An exact duplicate of the wand wielded by her former incarnation, with two key differences. First, the entire wand is made of silver and gold, aside from the gems embedded at the top of the hilt; and second, the crescent is made of carved diamond, which casts prismatic rainbows when light strikes it just right. Most often used in conjunction with her own powers, either by concentrating them through the hilt of the wand, or by spreading them through the crystal moon.

Fuku Description: Diamond's fuku is similar in appearance to that of the Eternal Senshi uniform, with a pair of gossamer silver fairy wings attached to the back (in the same style as the original Queen Serenity's). Her boot stripes, secondary skirt, glove cuffs, sleeve cuffs, and shoulder balls are all a VERY pale silver, as is her tiara.

Attack Sequence: Holding her hand out, with her palm towards an opponent, she casts a large beam of purifying light outwards, capable of burning even the most pure-hearted.

Attack Name: Lumiere
Attack Sequence: Forming an orb of light, Diamond then hurls it towards a target. The orb detonates upon impact, causing a massive explosion that sends her opponents flying on the scalding shockwave, as well as blinding all those who look upon it (without protection, at least).

Bio: The most outspoken of the Crystal Senshi, and by far the most hateful of the queen, Seishou is a firecracker that the other Crystals tend to stay out of the way of. Headstrong, defiant, and possessed of an exceptionally short fuse, she tends to go off on the slightest irritation, and keep a grudge for a long time thereafter. While not the most dangerous girl ever to be a senshi (that honor going to Tsuya Kyoumen), Seishou runs very close it, and will severely beat people on a moment's notice. Having grown up in one of the more crime-ridden areas of Tokyo, she learned to fend for herself early on... and, out of necessity, how to fight off men three or four times her own size and strength. Out of all the crystal senshi, she has been through the most. She never speaks of her parents, and her exceptional anger at the topic prevents all but the dearest of friends from even getting her to say two words on it (two words other than 'piss off', at least). Her mood imrpoves somewhat when in senshi form, but not by much. Still one of the most destructive fighters, she makes it a habit of not only mangling her opponent in battle, but usually leveling the immediate area in the process...

Fuku Description: A standard senshi uniform style, solid red with gold trimming and dark red accents. Her boots and gloves are in the style of those worn by the eternal senshi (gloves that extend to the biceps, and boots that stop just at the knee, angling down in a v at the top), and are each solid red. It should also be noted that her gloves extend only halfway up her fingers, and have bracing armor on the back of hte hand, and over the front of the forearm.

Attack Name: Red Bomb
Attack Sequence: Ruby throws her hand at her opponent, as if to swipe at them... but, instead, causes a cluster of scarlet orbs to fly at them, each one exploding upon impact. Using both hands causes a much larger cluster to be cast, but removes the possible element of surprise.

Attack Name: Ruby Storm
Attack Sequence: Thrusting her hand out as she yells the incantation, Ruby causes several dozen shafts of ruby crystal to fly at the desired spot. The shafts tear through obstructions until they hit a solid enough surface (such as a thick wall, or a person), and then explode in a scorching fireball.

Bio:
As with all senshi, each of the Crystal Senshi possesses a different personality. Some are more active, some more passive, some silent, some talkative.... and each is unique in their mixture of these things, and their mindset that controls it. Myun Kawasari, also known as Sailor Sapphire, is one of the quieter senshi, yet also one of the more active. While not exactly a slave to ideals of duty, she is, most often, the one most concerned about the mission succeeding. She worries more than the others when things start to go wrong, and sometimes ends up doing a great deal more than is necessary, just to make up for any percieved errors. Gaving grown up painfully introverted, she has always been alone... and thus is extremely insecure in her new role as the team's guardian (a task she took upon herself, since her primary senshi abilities center around shielding). It is to this end that she has become Alcyone's apprentice, trying to learn spells outside her natural senshi powers, in order to make herself more useful. Yet, she often ends up trying much too hard on all the wrong things... and, thus, usually grates on the others' nerves.... especially Seishou.

Frost Sword - A longsword with a blade of frost energy. This blade freezes any and all surfaces upon contact, stopping motion at the atomic level, and causing the affected object to become exceptionally brittle. Thus, upon striking, the surface becomes frozen from the outer wake of the blade, before breaking way as the heart of the sword hits it.

Attack Sequence: Trusting her arm out as she shouts the incantation, she causes a large wall of ice to appear, shielding herself and her comrades from attack for a short time.

Attack Name: Sapphire Burst
Attack Sequence: Swiping her hand through the air as she shouts the incantation, she causes a storm of icicles and sapphire crystals to fly at her opponent, originating along the same course her hand (or sword) followed. These projectiles cut through obstructions until they hit a solid enough surface. As they hit such a surface, they crumble into it.... causing the surface to freeze for about one foot in all directions from the original impact point.

Bio: In contrast to Myun, whose silence is due to tension and anxiety, Misao's quiet nature stems from a much more simplistic trait: not feeling the need to talk much. By far the calmest of the Crystal Senshi, Misao is the rock of the team. The brick. The backbone. Hers is the strongest and most undeniable personality, for nothing ever seems to phase her. The daughter of an Irish immigrant and his native wife, her name blends both east and west.... as does her outlook on life. While she sees it as obvious that Neo-Queen Serenity is unfit to lead, she lacks the enthusiasm for it that the others possess..... primarily because she doesn't see any better option. She believes that, more than likely, another ruler will come to the throne that won't be all that great either.... and thus, she pays little attention to the political side of things, sticking instead with what she knows.... and, thus, is content to spend her days working as a professional sharpshooter at a local amusement park, and occasionally going out on tour with the wandering carnival the park maintains.

Silver Pistols - Two identical auto-pistol sidearms, custom-built for Misao by Odysseus. Designed for marksmanship, the guns are highly accurate and precise, allowing Misao to take full advantage of her skills.

Jade Cannon (Senshi form only) - An oversized bazooka, which serves as the focus for Jade's senshi powers. While usually braced against the shoulder and used as a cannon, the weapon is balanced so that Jade can hold it by the stock, and wield it as a clubbing weapon.

Attack Name: Plasma Bolt Cannon
Attack Sequence: Hoisting her cannon onto her shoulder, Jade charges her own energy into it, before firing it off from the weapon in the form of a large ribbon of thunder elemental energy. The bolt impacts with a sizable explosion, capable of breaking through all but the absolute strongest material, and produces a strong electromagnetic pulse as a side effect upon detonation. Quite draining to use (since it siphons a good deal of her power), she must wait a while between shots, to replenish her energy.

Attack Name: Jade Shards
Attack Sequence: Firing off a large jade crystal from her cannon (or, in emergencies, forming a weaker one in her hands), Jade sends it flying high into the air. After a few seconds, the crystal explodes into hundreds of crystal shards, which rain down upon the area immediately below, cutting her target to pieces with the electrified shrapnel.
