this takes hypocrisy and stupidity to a new level. sometimes i'm just left speechless. like prannoy roy said on ndtv- a defamtion case has been filed against her, but it's not clear who she's defamed- married couples, or single people all over the state. he also added later that it was sad and hypocritical that she was made to apologize. lord, i just dont know what to say.


FYI- i didn't post this in the HOD, coz there is no question of a debate here. i cant see how anyone can have a problem with what she has said.

You agree with what she said, others may or may not. Its an expected reply from the political parties, I am yet to see a party in India that supports sexual freedom. There is none, plain & simple.

The country needs time to accept this new ideology. To some people here who are pooh-pooh-ing on the issue, I would love to ask how many times have they discussed sex with their parents?

If somebody thinks this is so big an issue to defame your own motherland, its a disgrace. Do you really believe your life will be better in UK or USA? Are these countries perfect? We already have two topics running in HoD on these two countries, one regarding the Brits & the other about the atrocities by the Americans.

Basically, you can marry a virgin. After you "pop her cherry" - what's to stop her from screwing around behind your back? You're not the only guy with a "joystick". She might find one with more responsive controls.

it is a big deal. what you are essentially saying is to ignore what they are doing. jaane do, apne baap ka kya jata hai. that's precisely the attitude that's brought us where we are today.

for me it's very simple zid, i work my behind off to earn money and make a living, i pay taxes, all i want is to be able to lead a decent life the way i choose to, as long as that is not illegal. what i get is piss-poor governance whose attitudes reflect the dark-ages more accurately than the 21st century, an administration that refuses to do it's basic duties, let alone do anything to help out further. if i want to work in bombay, i travel like a dog in a train too crowded for it's own good, i get harassed by the cops for any stupid reason coz they their palms greased, if i travel by car, my spine is split in two by the pot-holed roads(a more accurate description would be a giant pothole with some road here and there). every single :censored: year during the rains there is flooding in the same :censored: areas, my taxes are supposedly used to make things ok, but nothing changes. another part of my taxes go to giving benefits to illegal slum dwellers, who shouldn't even be there in the first place, let alone receive aid from the government. whatever little remains of my taxes go toward helping the babudom live like kings while i work my behind off to live a decent life. the same babudom that treats me like a leper when i go to them to get some work done, doing which is supposed to be their job. but i still have to give up all slef-respect and go and beg them to get the job done.

why should i subject myself to humiliation, torture and gross stupidty? why should i live a life that is not even close to being the type that i deserve for my efforts? why should i have to bend over backwards to get my rights? let's face it zid, all this talk of staying in your country and helping improve things and so on is great for the books, but real life ain't like that. there is no right and wrong- only power and those who have it. if you dont have power then you have nothing and will be treated like nothing and will live like nothing.

and dont even get me started on the so-called 'morality of the people' and the 'moral police' and (my personal fav) 'indian culture'


and for the record i never said that countries like the USA or the UK are perfect. but i'm sure you'll admit they are better than we are. they offer a better standard of living than my country does, they offer me a chance to live the life i want to give myself, not the life that is thrust upon me by some lame-ass policy maker who in no way represents me, or even thi century(as far as outllok is concerned) for that matter

Even though there is a lot of truth in what she said, there are ways in explaining things. Elders know that pre-marital sex exists, but saying that so openly and saying there is nothing wrong in it - is not wrong but not rightly said. Youngsters might take it in a very wrong way. She could have simply talked about sex which is what the topic of discussion was.

You know that Doctors get to see so many cases of pre-marital sex, but even they dont tell the public "there is nothing wrong in it". Somethings are known and assumed, you dont need to announce it in such a ruthless manner.

I aint saying 'apne baap ka kya jaata hai', I am merely telling you to not take this so seriously. The fact is that nobody cares about what these parties think. Everyone still celebrates valentines day, rose day & so on. Galz still go around in minis, youngsters still have sex (& make clips too. ;) ).

This actually is not needed. May be you're frustrated with something, but this doesnt really add anything to the debate. You are living in a democracy, you have the right to do whatever you want (have pre-marital sex) and others have the right to object to your actions (parties). Simple. This is no big deal, shifty.

that's exactly what i am saying, you have the right on paper. in reality the only rights you have are the ones that the powers-that-have been and be deem fit to give to you. try exercising your rights when it causes trouble/bother for someone in a position of power. hell try to use something as simple as your right to information and see how successful you are.

But c'mon whether you call, ppl hippocrates or nethin, the truth remains that sex is still a taboo in r society, and wateva she said will get a lotta "shhhhss and shoos.....", the truth remains ppl are gettin into pre-marital and no one can deny this truth BUT again, who will decide what is wrong and right, what is right for is wrong for ur grandparents, neither the pol parties nor that actress on television.
We are nt tryin to reach some consensus out here. It's a personal choice. If the pol parties feel they shud oppose it, let them oppose and if she feels like talking abt it on TV let her do dat !
