Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has criticised the United States for leaving his country 'high and dry' after 10 years as strategic ally in the war against Soviet Union in Afghanistan and then embracing India in a strategic relationship.
In an interview with Time magazine, being published in its upcoming issue, Musharraf admitted that the man on the street in Pakistan did not have a good opinion of the US, though the vast majority supports his policies because they consider them to be in the national interest.
Before 1989, we were a strategic ally of the US and fought a war in Afghanistan for 10 years. Then we got left high and dry. The United States then started to have a strategic relationship with India, which was in the enemy camp," he charged.
"What would the man on the street think," Musharraf asked the interviewer.

Musharaff DisappointedI wonder how much of this reflects USA's initiative to expedite the process of conferring Civilian Nuclear Reactors to India while practically snubbing their ally Pakistan rejecting their claim for parity with India.
President Bush called for giving India the same access to benefits of nuclear technology as other responsible nuclear states. Calling it 'responsible state with advanced nuclear technology,' and appreicatig India's strong commitment to preventing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and as a Bush said 'India should acquire the same benefits and advantages as other such states. This effectively clears the way for the transfer of civilian nuclear reactors to India to meet its acute energy needs as it grows exponentially as an emerging economic power.

At Last Bush is doing something Right although he is an ass. I think India deserves it and BUsh is not ditching Pak. It is just that Pak can not use its nuclear power for peace or civil purposes and Bush knows it.
I think US will always favor PAK and there is no need for Paki's to be insecure specially as they continue to assist US with war on terror.
Cheers!!

Musharraf still doesnt seem to be adjusting to the US policy.
They only want policies with countries with which they have any need.
They needed Pak for control in Afghan territory and after that they left Pak now US is seeking India becoz India is growing economically and it is developing at a rapid rate. Two sided as always
Musharraf talking as enemy still proves that he hasnt transformed much from the Army general he was before

Pak fought for US for 10 years, all agreed
Pak always favoring US policies uptill now, all agreed,
but wat bout those 40 years in which US pratically always supported P{akistan, even tho it didnt matter if it was right or wrng.
The fact is US paid off everythng, every help Pak offred us and infact at times I feel V over paid them. Now India can offer us sumthng V R paying them, n I wud say India shud learn frm Pak tht plz dnt over relly on US, coz politics is a bad game, with no rules, no frnds, no foes, its just business, U give U take, the moment India wud b incapable of giving ne profits to US, they willl cut off all spl favors, as simple as tht, I wonder Y head of the state of a country can not undrstand this thng :frust:

Well,
I Don't know why u r saying that. Pakistan Might deserve that from the hands of India bcoz we are considered enemies. But Why USA?
And i Do not think India deserves Much better if Pakistan does not. Coz USA Favors Pakitsan and Everyone knows that.

l hav a request to all of U, can U plz tel me wen did US leave Pak dry???????
n then Y Pak or nr other country wants US to b their guarding angel????
U do sumthng for me I will do sumthng for U, thts business, n this is wat US did with Pak.
Wen did US say tht Pak is a frnd country, V always said tht THEY R OUR ALIANCE.
simple as tht,
Wen Pak was of some help to US like against USSR then at tht time US saved Pak frm getting romped by Soviet Army, else do U really thnk tht Soviets wud hav stopped at Afganistan????
The fact is Soviet had plans to invade Pak bt it was US which was an issue and they decided otherwise.
then aftr tht wenever Pak helped US they recieved handsome grants, like all their debt was pardoned, their activities at the border were unseen, they were supported in Kashmir issue.
Bt now US dnt need Pak nemore, so thts Y V R leaving tht alliance, this is rule of business, n then wen half of US considers Pak as terrorist camp (Due to media or watver) then how can govt hav coordial relation with such nation??????
This is a simple rule which every1 shud hav in mind, including India, US IS NO GUARDING ANGEL, they R businessmen, U want sumthng U hav to give sumthng
