Homecoming is a Bitch, Kita/Maalik

[Maalik]

Maalik moved in a flash of speed. One moment he was there sitting calmly with Kita and the next the child was gone and so was he. He knew she could trace him and he wanted her too. Once she found them they were in a bare and secluded section of the park, Maalik sitting in a tree with the girl oddly silent. Once Kita got within sight, Maalik would drop the child. The only thing stopping her from falling from the branches was the blanket he had tied tightly around her throat. Maalik would raise the child again and coddle her as Kita got nearer.

"You have just proven to me exactly how rediculas you are and never have you understood my position within Rebecca's life." Maalik called down casually. "Come mother cat. Come save your child." Maalik smirked as he released the blanket again and Shiori fell, the cry stopped as the blanket was to tight on her throat. The child could barely cry, let alone scream.

Kita's heart almost stopped when Shiori and Maalik disappeared. The mother cat stood, looking panicked. He'd kill her daughter without a second thought. He was a monster with no concience. This was why she had went to great lengths to hide Shiori's scent. Shiori never should know that she came from a monster.

She broke through the brush around the secluded area of the park, watching in horror as Maalik dropped Shiori, the girl's scream cut off by the blanket. Oh, god, he was going to hang her! Kita ran towards the tree, blazing fury in her eyes. If Maalik hurt Shiori, she was going to kill him.

Kita leapt into the tree, her hands formed into claws and her gaze when from angry to horrified as he dropped Shiori again, letting the child dangle. Why was he doing this? Simply to prove how demented he was? That nothing had changed since she had left Moorebank? She had known that the moment she got back.

"Stop hurting her!" Kita cried, "She's got nothing to do with what happened between us. Stop acting like she does!" The leopardess jumped up to the branch where she could reach Shiori, slicing the blanket and catching her baby. Now to get away, far away.

"She has nothing to do with us?" Maalik snapped, taking Kita roughly by the throat and pinning her to the tree, his body pressed against her and forcing her to let her daughter go and let her watch the violence. "She is us." he demanded, pulling her forward before quickly slamming the back of her head into the tree bark. "You dare come to my town and parade her around me like a lure and then deny me. How dare you Kita." he growled, his voice dangerous and low, his grip tight on her throat and even with the marks and the speedy recovery of being a shifter when he released her there was a mark on her throat.

"You want to play games with my daughter, let us play." he challenged her with a snarl. "You should know better then to lie to me."

Kita was dizzy and disoriented from the blow to the back of her head. She sat there against the tree, blinking her eyes rapidly and chasing away the stars. Finally, she could see clearly and turned her glare up towards Maalik.

"You wonder why I kept her from you," she growled, her voice low, "Look at what you did to her just to get to me." She was referring to the red ring around her daughter's neck from being dangled from a blanket. "Look what you did just because you were angry with me. How can I trust you not to rip her head off in a fit of rage?" The mother leopard pulled herself to her feet, glaring at the man. "You can't even stop the urge to kill when it comes to your own flesh and blood. You killed your sister, remember? What's to stop you from killing your daughter? Certainly not family bloodties."

But before Kita could grab her daughter and run, the little three-year-old gave a tiny growl and darted around her mother over to the strange man who was hurting her. "Shiori! No!" The girl ignored her mother's warning and began beating on Maalik's leg with her tiny fists. Not doing any damage, but it was all she could do.

"No! No hurt Okasaa!" Shiori screamed, banging on his leg, "No hurt Okasaa!"

"This would not have happened if you were not a shallow whore." Maalik said, ignoring the girl beating at his legs. "If you had been honest, come to me and explain the truth on your visit, on her parental lineage. However you chose to fight me, to lie to me and to make this a contest. And I am here to prove that you can not fight me and I make a worse enemy then a lover Kita. And if you ever dare say my sisters name before me, I will take you and your daughter and force her to watch as I strip the flesh from your flesh as I rape you."

Maalik released her. "This did not need to go like this Kita. Do not blame me for your mistake. You chose to lie. And all liers deserve to be punished. Think of that before next we meet." he spat at her, stepping away. "Kill you for your daughter?" Maalik scoffed at her. "Why would I want her?" Maalik directed at the pair before he moved away

Kita didn't say anything else, merely reached forward and grabbed Shiori and pulled the child against her. She didn't trust Maalik, at least not as far as she could throw him. Yes, some wouldn't consider it right to deny a father the chance to know their child, but those people didn't know Maalik. How could Kita raise Shiori letting the child know she was the daughter of a killer? Someone who gleefully and willfully tore people apart on a whim?

The leopardess sat up, looking at her child for any damage. Other than the red ring around her neck, Shiori looked fine. Kita sighed softly with relief and picked up the sniffling girl. "It's okay, Shiori...It's okay." She shifted the girl on her hip and turned in the opposite direction Maalik had gone. She just wanted to get home and wait for Zachariah to wake so she could call him. She needed his reassurances and so did Shiori.
