the water pokemon is always the strongest in the early stages so when you battle Gary in the beginning you can win easy. And once on my birthday my mom made a squirtle on the cake using blue icing and it was awesome

Obviously Squirtle is the best starter in the game. Super useful and Blastoise is a powerhouse. Venusaur blows because it's poison, right? So Psychic just destroys it (and let's face it, everyone who actually was serious about battling had either Kadabra/Alakazam, Mew, or Mewtwo all of these guys use Psychic its 2x because of STAB then 4x because of weakness then it's elevated higher because all of these Pokemon have insane Sp Attack and Psychic is strong to start out with) It's like 4x weak to Ice too (and again, Blastoise/Hitmonchan/whoever with Ice Punch/Ice Beam/Blizzard, Articuno). And the only good grass moves at the time were Razor Leaf and Solarbeam and any move whatsoever that takes a turn to recharge isn't worth it and Razor Leaf kinda just sucked. There never has been and never will be a legit grass Pokemon that's worth using in the game. They have so many weaknesses and any type they're strong against, there's always a type that's stronger against them (like grass is strong against rock, water Pokemon are just better in general and they're also strong against rock, so why not just use water in the first place?). If they're pure grass, they suck and if they're dual type, it's almost always poison which opens it up to a shitload more weaknesses.

Shit, there are better Bug types and they pretty much suck too (like a really good EV trained Spd/Atk Beedrill is the only good first gen one). If you could get Baton Pass first gen, Beedrill would be better, but it's still pretty good I guess. It's weak to everything though. For Gold/Silver/Crystal, we get Shuckle, really good. So that makes 2 good bugs. Statistically, Venusaur is better than Blastoise, but whatever. Blastoise isn't weak to everything.

In real life, I'd rather have a Bulbasaur because of those vines and shit, but Squirtle is my favorite Pokemon of all time so I gotta vote for it.

And obviously I'm super overthinking this, but this was all I did when I was 8, so I really can't help it.

I'm trying to get back into it a little because the new one is coming out in 2 weeks and it's gonna be sweet, just because it reminds me of way back when I used to be super into it and just had a lot of fun with it.
