Title: people who have the same name as you
Description: an existential crisis
Pele Merengue - March 2, 2008 03:15 AM (GMT)
you know when you're growing up in school
and some kid has the same name as you
and whenever the teacher calls on them or some kid is talking to them, you turn your attention to a false summons
and then realize that no one is talking to you
and you're all
what the fuck?
isn't that lame?
Shiny - March 2, 2008 03:59 AM (GMT)
I wouldn't imagine you having that problem. Unless your Internet handle is just a pseudonym and your real name is Bill.
But yeah, that shit is lamesauce all around. I remember in the early grades, the teachers would attach the last name initial when addressing the same-name kids to avoid confusion. And they really enforced that practice. One time I told on this kid named "Chris Rea", so I told my teacher, "Aggh... Chris Rea said he was going to [scatter pieces of my Lego set all over the playground]" and she quickly snapped back with, "YOU MEAN 'CHRIS R.'?" We were all existentially fucked at a young age. She was an old nun, by the way.

there were two other Megans in my third-grade class
AND WE ALL HAD THE SAME MIDDLE NAME
bum bum bummmmm
and then this past summer, a dad came into ace hardware (where i was working at the time) with his young daughter and when she saw my nametag she was like HEY my name is megan too! and so i told her that story about my third grade class and her dad was like hooooly shit she has the same middle name too!
how crazy is that??

high school was the first time people had the same first name as me(jared). There was one guy with the same spelling and he was cool. So it's all good. The creepy thing was a french class where three people had the same birthday.
superman - March 2, 2008 05:14 AM (GMT)
ha. no one of my generation is named 'jeanne'. i did know one 'jean' who was close to my age, and a guy named 'gene' when i was a teenager. i think there are six or seven people who work at hospice with the name 'jean' or 'jeanne ' (3 'jeanne's i think). so i never really had a problem with it.
one funny thing happened a while back when one of my dad's sisters who had a lot of enthusiasm for this sort of thing decided to publish a 'family events calendar' with everyone's birthdays and anniversaries and such. i saw the name 'jeanne m. br3d3st3g3' on there on the wrong date, and i was like 'huh?' and then noticed the year of birth was like, 1989 or something. so yeah. one of my 42 cousins on that side of the family named his or her kid after me!
clouds - March 2, 2008 05:27 AM (GMT)
my aunt's name is jeanne. she's about 10 years older than you, or something.

I joined a group of frands in the 10th grade and there was already a Rachel so I had to get a new name to avoid confusion. and from then on, even teachers call me by a ridiculous nickname <_<

I know two Megan Elizabeths, myself. It's a pretty standard Irish name, I thought.
I've only ever met a few other Colins and I've only spent a significant amount of time around one. He lived one town away and we had a lot of the same friends. When his dad came out of the closet, everyone was really confused and kept asking me if my dad was gay. That was a strange summer.

I don't have any frands/personally know anyone named Moira...I know some Maras though...I don't really like the way my name sounds, and the spelling is redonkulous and isn't pronounced how it is spelled.

I've never known very many guys named Marc ever. Whether spelled Mark or Marc. I'm not a big fan of the name... it's very nondescript I think.
I'd *really* hate my name if it were spelled Mark, but I can live with it because of the c.

That's my grandfather's name.
Also, my dad's name is (sort of) the same as mine, so it was always annoying answering the phone, having to ask if the 'Pat' they're referring to is for me or my dad.

I had a friend, his name was Mark with a c. His sister was like the heat coming off the back of an old tv.
I'm the only one in the world with my first + last name. My last name is actually very common in Sicilia, but that's a coincidence.
