There was that window of time within the diner that came after lunch where the place just seemed to empty out entirely, or dwindle down to just catering to a few customers. Which was probably the best of times for the servers and cook to be able to regroup and have a small breather before dealing with what would be a mad rush of people getting off work and looking for a place to hang out or grab a good dinner.

Asa was becoming a regular at this particular eatery. Of course it was one of the popular diners in town and he had always gone to it over the years but it seemed within this past month alone you could pretty much count on him coming in sometime early in the morning, to grab a coffee and maybe a plate of breakfast. Or around this hour.

She would’ve first notice him pulling up on his bike. He was the long haired, black leather guy that strolled in and sat there at the counter/bar area. He was quiet and kept to himself but still appeared open and friendly. He greeted those he knew or where passing by on their way out as he was headed in. He seemed like a pretty cool guy. But things had changed since last month. He had changed. Now when he was showing up he definitely appeared less talkative. He came on foot, his bike no where to be heard before he made his entrance, so at times he could go unseen. Just suddenly seeming to pop up at a booth that was usually near the back exit. He quiet now in a closed off kind of way and appeared more serious, or just distant. What had happen? Well his hair was different, that was the only noticeable change. It’d been cut short and before it could even get to a descent, non-jagged and rough length he was always wearing a beanie cap or hoodie. He appeared a bit more grim as well like something was wrong.

He noticed her as a regular waitress here and at one point it had peaked his curiosity – where had she come from, and where exactly did she live or what else did she do around her because it seemed he barely saw her all that much unless here at the diner. Today it wasn’t just that he appeared like something was wrong with him he had had it rough. His father had bailed him out of another ‘mess’ he started. It wasn’t just some mess to him. It was him doing what had to be done, to get some form of payback after some punk ass took advantage of his step sister. He was upset though because his father had stepped in to get him released and no charges brought up against him. Now. he owed him. Asa had settled into the usual booth and held a few booklets, and pamphlets. They were different classes being offered at Dalton, and a neighboring college. Along with a personal invite to some online college. After combing through a couple of them he was growing frustrated. His father wanted him back in school. Back on the right track to groom him properly. He was shoving the papers aside, harder than he attended however because the majority where suddenly flying off the table and right into the path of the approaching waitress on the floor. Asa was exhaling, glancing over “Shit.. sorry.” he murmured scootin from the boot to begin collecting the spilled papers.

It had been a very tough week for Amy … well, not just Amy, but plenty of people who had been close to Delilah Davis. She had been such a sweet girl and Amy was missing having her around. She had enjoyed having Delilah come in after school for a coke and a chat. She was the only friend she’d had in Belmont and now she was gone. She was doing her best to reach out to Kailyn but she got the feeling that Kailyn wanted to be left alone. Honestly, if Lindsay had died, she would probably be upset herself so she figured she would give Kailyn the space she needed to get better, and hope to god it happened for her sake.

Amy had done her best to just keep up her routine. She had been working many more shifts since Delilah had died so she was making much more money and since she wasn’t really in the mood to spend she was saving up … however she did plan on helping support Rosie in some sort of manner. She knew that Delilah’s family had it covered but she wanted to involve herself in Rosie’s life. She sighed as she stepped into the back room of Hayes Diner and got herself ready for work. She hadn’t been her normal self lately as Amy was usually pretty happy around the kitchen. She still maintained her smiling attitude with her customers but she knew that lately it had been fake. She slipped her notepad into her apron and set upon taking orders from the customers. She noticed Asa sitting on his own with papers in front of him. He didn’t look all that happy so she decided not to head towards him straight away. She had seen him in the diner before, mostly he was along and sometimes with a couple of other guys.

She made her way towards him and clipped her notepad from her dress to get ready to take his order when she felt things start to hit her leg, causing her to gasp. She looked down and saw that they were the boys thing; it looked like they were school books or course information that he was throwing away so Amy could only assume that he hadn’t found what he was looking for. ”It’s okay.” She said with a soft sigh. She wondered what had him so bummed out. It seemed a lot of people in Belmont were bummed out despite living in such a nice place. She kneeled down to go through the papers on the floor, clicking her lips as she put them together and set them back on the table. ”Just in case you want to give it another try.” She smiled softly at the boy as she clicked her pen into action. ”Did you want to order something? Or are you happy just sitting for now?” Normally people were asked to leave if they weren’t actually buying something but Amy could sense the guy needed his time to get his stuff together and leave on his own terms.

The death of someone so young was always a horrible thing that could shake the town at its core and seem to effect a lot of people. Asa had never really gotten to know the girl personally but he knew Delilah was a very close friend of Kailyns. Because they were always seen together and such. He had been there at the hospital the night it happen, and had been there when they had to tell Kay the bad news. That was probably the worst thing he had been through in a long while. He didn’t think it would hurt him so deeply to have to watch Kay be told her friend was dead and have to accept that ill fact.

Things were still rough on that front. But that wasn’t the only thing bothering him these days. His family in general though always seemed to be going through something. He was stilling a small glance at the blonde that came to kneel down beside him and help collect what he had knocked over. “Thanks…” Slowly he returned to sit with his collected stack. Giving a light snort “Yah, I don’t really have much of a choice in the matter.” he was referring to making a choice on college and courses to take. He merged his stack with the one she was placing on the table before looking back at her “Um, no its fine, I’ll just have the usual fries and cheeseburger. With a sprite. I risk getting bumped out if I don’t. Been sitting here far too long anyway.

He was sighing lightly as he glanced back down at the books and stuff. He was turning back to Amy, curious “Do you go to school or something around here? I mean I always see ya working here, but hardly ever anywhere else I hang out at.

Standing in front of the boy, she had no idea that he was in the ‘extended’ family of Delilah’s best friend, Kailyn. Amy wanted to be there for Kailyn as she knew things weren’t going to be easy for her but she knew Kailyn probably didn’t want her around. She didn’t believe that Kailyn hated her, in fact, she was sure that she liked her well enough but they didn’t know each other well enough for Amy to suddenly swoop in and become best friends with her … really she had only met Kailyn a few times whilst they were both hanging around with Delilah. But she felt that bad for Kailyn that she wanted to be there for her.

She clicked her lips. ”Of course you do.” She said with a soft smile as she looked over at the brochures he was looking at. ”It’s a lot of time and money put into studying at college so unless you’re a hundred percent serious about the course than you’re just going to be unhappy.” She didn’t have a lot of experience with courses and stuff but she knew how college was taxing. She noticed that he gave a bit of a ‘snort’ towards her question which made her wonder if maybe he was being pressure to do something at college and that worried her. She laughed softly at his question and nodded. ”That sorta is protocol … usually you can get by though if the place is fairly empty like it is now.” The bosses would often send one of the workers out to kick somebody out that wasn’t buying but the diner was often used by students who just wanted a quiet place to study and Amy didn’t see a problem with that and would usually feel bad for telling somebody to leave when they were just looking for a place to sit.

People often wondered about her and what she actually done. There had been a rumour started about her being a single mother and others had said she had been expelled. It seemed people around here just liked to make shit up. ”I don’t go to school. I dropped out before the school year. Long story.” She chuckled softly. ”Where else do you hang out? I guess it depends on whether these places would be suitable for me or not.”

He was arching a brow as head tilted a bit as he looked at her. It lead him to believe she possibly was still fairly new in town. Or at least didn’t recognize him as a Benson. Though really that wasn’t entirely uncommon. She didn’t have to be new to not know who he was. Asa wasn’t used to being paraded around like he was some type of royalty. It’s just that a majority of the town did talk, and that majority that talked also listened. So there were a lot of folks that did know him and who his father was. It was almost refreshing at times to find someone that didn’t know him, or just didn’t bother to keep up with the gossip enough to know who or what was a ‘trending topic’.

Y’know, and while all that is true and considered for most normal folks. That doesn’t come close to something that is reasonably considered with my father.” he shrugged as he was lifting up one of the brochures to review again. “If it were up to me I probably wouldn’t even be going back. But… daddy dearest, feels I owe him.” he was giving another shrug before looking back to her, tossing the brochure back in the stack. He was offering a light smile and nodded in understanding “I’ve been coming here most of my life. I usually eat eventually, but I know I’ve been pushing my limit lately.

Dropped out of highschool or college?” he questioned curiously. He gave a smirk and chuckled a bit “Heh well yah my type of scene probably wouldn’t be very suitable for a gal like you. Lotta partying, and bars. Or something fun and illegal going down at the beach. But working this place everyday has to get….boring, doesn’t it?

Amy didn’t have facebook so she didn’t get to read up about a lot of drama in Belmont. She had heard a few little stories here and there while she was working but she done her best to not pry on the customers. There seemed to be a lot happening in Belmont all the time but Amy had her own problems to deal with and while she cared about other people she needed to focus on her own list of issues first. She raised an eyebrow and wondered if there was a real issue with this boy’s father. Amy often heard people bad mouth their parents and wondered how they would deal growing up with a mother like her own; sneaking into her bedroom while drunk and whispering weird shit was only the beginning of the problems she had faced growing up. It sounded to her like the boy just had a demanding parent.

She smiled. ”Demanding, I take it? Sounds like my mother.” She would pray they it wasn’t the same extent though. She rolled her eyes when he told her that his father seemed to think he was owed so this boy had to go back to school. She didn’t understand the idea of a parent making their child think that they ‘owed’ them something but it showed the gulf between good people and people. ”There must be something better you can do? Like, something that isn’t essentially a waste of time since it seems you wouldn’t be dedicated to the cause.” She didn’t think he was stupid and he actually seemed smart but studying for the sake of it always led. ”It is kinda a tight rule considering the availability of booths at the present.” She chuckled softly as she looked around at all the empty seats and knew nobody was going to demand Asa’s booth specifically so she didn’t see why he couldn’t sit there for awhile.

She lifted her eyebrows. ”I guess you could consider me a runaway. I left home so I had no choice but to leave school and find a job. My savings only got me to Belmont and in a hotel room for a week before the owner came in here and threw my things all over the place because I hadn’t paid up.” She had been so lucky that Izzy was there that day or she would have probably still been looking for somewhere to stay. She smirked and nodded her head. The whole clubbing scene was certainly not her thing. She didn’t really like loud music and she didn’t like alcohol and didn’t like being around it if she could avoid it. ”I guess. I don’t really mind it. I get to talk to people and it’s pretty easy and the tips make the money … passable.” Without the tips her hourly rate was absolutely horrible but she normally almost doubled her salary in tips over the fortnight. ”Do you mind if I join you while I take my break? I was thinking of grabbing something to eat myself.”

Probably most anyone in the family would agree that Asa did tend to by the bratty ‘baby’ of the family and complain a lot about what only he saw as the most horrible things in the world to happen to him. When nearly every single one of his siblings(step or blood related) could easily counter his problems with serious real life troubles of their own. With that said, however, Adam was more than just your everyday demanding parent. It was put the extremes what he wanted and saw in terms of family expectations. It all came down to a business. His business. The one he was working so hard to deliver to his sons all of which he had set in his head could have the potential to be supper powerful and just like him if they just stopped with the stupid, childish, stubborn behavior.

Ace was giving a nod “Demanding to the worst, and most extremes.” he was shaking his head lightly but having to give a shrug because at the end of the day that was something he did compared to his brothers. He complained. He could rant and rave about it. But he still was the one honestly wanting some form of approval or to just do something that was considered ‘right’ enough to both his father and himself. “I don’t know. Some days, I think maybe it wont be all bad. There were things I did like about school. Kept me a bit more…regimented. But I don’t always like that. And then now its not always a good thing to have so many hours in the day to waste away. Starts messing with your head, being bored so long and next thing im doing something stupid.

He was following her gaze to glance around at the near empty diner and his smirk broadened into a grin as he laughed a bit “tight rule indeed.” he sat up a bit more “In that case. How much trouble would you be in if you decided to have a sit down?” he was, for the most part offering the open seat across from him. Of course when she was mentioning it was about her time for her break anyway he nodded with a smile “Awesome, well by all means. The company will be appreciated

He was appearing a bit more curious, but at the same time, a bit concerned in the way that he frowned when hearing about what’d happen at the place she was staying at “Well that does not sound like a very nice hotel owner. No matter what the case. Hopefully you have been able to find some other, better place to live now right?” Not that he could exactly offer his own home to her because, well he would fear for her sanity more than just overall safety. But he was sure he would be able to get her some type of place if she were all but living on the streets. He was nodding in understanding, well, to an extent understanding when it came to work “Sound like my brother. He’s a hard working but gets very little pay. Well, he used to, he seems to be holding down a good enough place now. Just seems a shame because he decided to leave out from living under our dads thumb or accepting anything from him. And after being in the army and all.. just would expect things to be a bit better off for him I guess.” She shrugged arching brows and motioning towards another smaller stack next to a newspaper off to one side corner of the table “That would be my other dilemma. Locating a new job. And place of my own to live in.

Amy smiled. ”I know all about bad parents. I know how you feel.” Amy looked into the boy’s eyes and she didn’t see fear though so she knew he didn’t know how she felt. The small blonde didn’t go into the details about her past though. She wanted to do her best to get over it and so far she had done a good job of that since moving to Belmont. ”You could always try getting a job … if you don’t already have one. I mean, if wasting away some hours is what you are after then I’m sure you could find many jobs around here.” The place was just full of clothing stores though so there wasn’t a whole lot that interested Amy. ”Or maybe even a trade if you are interested in getting your hands dirty.” She didn’t know if he was the kinda boy who liked ‘physical labour’ but a trade usually led to many good opportunities.

Amy smiled and shook her head. There had been a few times when Lilah came and sat with her and sometimes Izzy and Zoey had lunch at the diner. ”No trouble at all. I’m on break so it’s a non-issue and I’ve had lunch with people before.” This would probably be ‘dinner’ more than a lunch but even at midnight any break you took was considered a ‘lunch’ break since a lunch break was mandatory after five hours of working a shift. The thirty minutes she received was unfortunately unpaid so never would she not take it … where was the sense in that. It would be nice to have some company during the break. ”Okay, sounds good.” She nodded her head softly. There was no doubt she’d get a few questions once she headed back into work after eating with a boy. The kitchen staff and waitresses had taken Amy in as if she were the youngest sibling of a big family.

The hotel owner. That was an episode that she probably would never forget. The first moment she had ever really been in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. ”I sort of understand needing to be paid and stuff … he did overreact though.” He had seemed paranoid from the beginning about allowing her some leeway but she had always paid up when she had the money to do it. Amy nodded her head. ”Thankfully a woman was in the diner when it all went down and she offered me a room almost on the spot … it was a little like fate really. I got into the pool house and ever since then things have been going really well.” She wasn’t used to living such a normal life so it was a while new feeling for her and she certainly did like it. She listened as he explained his brother’s situation. She knew what it was like to work hard and long hours for little money. ”I really want to go to art school when I can but I need to finish high school for that to happen. Otherwise, I might end up in the same situation as your brother is now, for longer than I need too.” There was nothing wrong with hard work but if you had goals then it left you … unsatisfied with life and that wasn’t good.

She smiled. ”I’ll go fix up our orders and bring them back so we can both eat.” Amy told the guy as she made her way back to the counter to organise both her break and their meals.

He was giving a nod of agreement “Definitely something I am going to do. Because while I will at least try to consider college and grumble completely when getting forced into that one there is no way in Heeelll Im going to actually go work for my father. Getting groomed and having to wear a suit and tie everyday should be…illegal.” he threw up his hands after searching and finding what worked as the proper word to describe his strong dislike over getting dressed up to that extent for work every day. It was already something to be getting up to go to work in the first place. Though she definitely had his attention and curiosity peaked when she mentioned a trade. “Trade?? As in…what exactly??” Brows were arching as he looked over her, smirking as he pointed towards her get up “You can be as much of a sweetheart as you like but you are not getting me into that little apron.

It was good to hear that despite her suffering the wrath of some low down motel owner, she was able to find another place- that he hoped would prove to be better living all around from a woman she’d met in the diner. “Yah it surely does.. that’s pretty cool, glad it worked out for ya.” he snorted lightly, brows arching at her “a pool house, all to yourself? I’d say you did very well for yourself. Trust me that will be the perfect place to be once things heat up around here.” That was one thing that was unmistakeable about Belmont. The weather may continue to test your nervous throughout the fall and winter months. But once the summer it, it was good hot weather For a good three-four months.

They were taking pause from their conversation though to allow her to place their orders in. He smiled and nodded, watching with new found interest as she was walking away. He couldn’t help but chuckle to himself as he returning to flipping the papers. Beginning to shuffle them further off to the side so she would have room when returning with their food. He was suddenly finding this girl to be something very different than what he would’ve expected. Though, he wasn’t sure what to expect. It wasn’t like he had taken the time to even try to get to know her before. But something about her was definitely….different. In a rather likable way.

She shook her head. It seemed this boy was really concerned about what his father wanted and would bend what he wanted to please him. The way Amy saw it was that if he was an adult then he could make his choices though off course she didn’t understand the need to keep a parent happy with what you were doing and not everybody could last on their own like she did. ”I don’t know you’re father but really if you don’t want to do what he says then you shouldn’t.” He was just leading to a life of being unhappy. ”It shouldn’t be illegal but it shouldn’t be mandatory – kinda like a voluntary thing since some people do like it.” Her father was an architect who loved his job and she supposed also loved wearing suits or at least was fine with it since he never complained about it other than on hot days.

Amy smiled as she chuckled. ”I don’t think they do trades for places like this … waitressing. It’s not like you need to study or do a lot of training to be able to write down an order, click a bell and place it on a stick.” Her job was very easy hence the bad pay. It did take a lot of talking to people but that was hardly enough to demand decent pay for it. ”Maybe if you wanted to work in the kitchen? A trade is something where you are studying and working on the job at the same time, I think. It’s more for like plumbers, builders, electricians …things that lead into really important jobs where you don’t have to wear suits.” She teased a little at the last part as there was obviously no need for a suit while you were working as a plumber though that was hardly an appealing job. She brushed some hair out of her eyes as she realised she knew all this stuff about getting a ‘good job’ and she was working as a waitress.

Amy lifted an eyebrow when he snorted. ”Really?” Amy wasn’t the snobbish type who got offended by silly noises like that and she just found it funny that he would snort like that and not care. ”We all get a little luck sometimes. I’m sure you will too.” Amy had been down in the dumps before she met Isabella aswell. She had felt unprotected by God but he had taken her away from her mother and led her to a woman who had given her a place to stay and not have to worry about anything weird happening. ”The pool is great aswell! I jumped in one time when it was cold and just loved it … even though it was freezing.” She normally didn’t like the hot weather a whole lot but she was excited for the upcoming summer. It would be the first time she’d be able to get a tan, swim in a pool whenever she wanted, maybe learn how to surf and have a whole heap of fun.

Amy wrote down her own order and removed her apron. She set it down behind the counter and set two glasses of coke with ice up and made her way back to where the boy was sitting. ”Hope coke is okay. The food shouldn’t be too long.”

He smirked lightly when she declined on fully agreeing with his reasoning when it came to getting all dressed up in a suit. “Well we’ll leave it at a majority of things my dad does should be illegal then, because I think that’s the only way to stop him from doing the shit he tries to force on me and my brothers.” But he was look up to eye her a moment when she was mentioning how he probably shouldn’t do what his father was demanding, if he really didn’t want to do it. It wasn’t the first time he had heard that in the past week and he was wondering to now be hearing it so frequently, should he see or take it as some sort of sign?

Brows perked, glancing around when she mentioned him possibly getting work “Here?? Being a bus boy to these folks???” He gave a small chuckle before shaking his head “Hah, I don’t know. My bro James is ‘mr. fix it’ of the family. Cant say that’s a strong talent of mine and I don’t know if I could deal with playing server to some of these people- Probably get fired for flirting with the female population that rolls through, and getting into fights with half the guys that would just give me a shit time.” Even he couldn’t deny to an extent he was high maintenance. He liked what he liked and was used to getting certain things he wanted. Didn’t meant he wouldn’t ‘lower’ himself to get a job, possibly one he didn’t fully favor. But on some level he also had a reputation he felt would get mocked a bit more than it already had been lately if he decided to make something for himself in a place like this.

However if that is your way of saying you would love to see more of me. Im sure we can make that happen.” he was adding with a wink and smirk. He nodded when speaking of her new place. “From rags to riches, in a way. Best way of living. I would love a place like that. Would be the perfect party joint come next month and all.” He chuckled a bit when she mentioned going for a ‘cold swim’ and he gave a shrug “I know how that can be. Im sure it was pretty awesome.

Returning from placing their order, he was taking his drink that was placed before him nodding gently with a smile “Its perfect, thank you.” He took a swallow from the glass before returning his gaze to watching her as she came to sit across from him. “I’m Asa by the way.” He realized he hadn’t even introduced himself to her. “So what, do you like to do when you aren’t busy working around here or.. at home chilling at your new awesome pool house?

The way this boy’s father sounded he was some sort of mafiaso criminal guy who killed people and nobody could do anything about it. Amy didn’t really know nor did she want to know if this guy’s father was some sort of criminal or had a bad reputation. The last thing she even needed was involvement like that when she was just getting on her feet for the first time in her life. So, she was happy to just nod her head when he wanted to ‘leave it at that’ as she was thinking that was probably the best course of action for her.

Amy giggled. ”Now there is nothing wrong with serving the fine people of this town.” She didn’t expect her job to be appealing. It was all she was qualified for though so she done it with a smile on her face and complained about it to herself in her own time. ”I didn’t really mean here though but there are other jobs like this that aren’t this that you could do and get paid better for … and not have to wear these silly aprons all the time.” Most boys that worked here were in the kitchen anyway. They didn’t know how to get along with the customers like the girls did. ”Flirting would probably get you tips and a pat on the back if you keep them coming back. One of the things the girl who taught me how to do the job was that flirting was good for tips but I’m not even sure how to flirt.” She wasn’t a flirtatious person but Amy found that elderly customers and families tipped really nicely if you served them well enough and she had found herself with good tips many times. ”But yes … fighting wouldn’t get you in the managers good books. In fact, anything that doesn’t make him money, he wants nothing to do with.”

Amy blushed and shook her head. Did she come off that way? She was only trying to help him out, really. He did seem like a nice guy and she needed more friends but she didn’t want it to seem like ‘that’ to him. It certainly was not Amy’s intention to make herself seem available like that. ”I wouldn’t say I came from rags. My Dad was an architect and we lived well but nothing compared to Izzy’s place.” Not to mention she didn’t have to deal with the torment of her mother at Izzy’s house which made it worth more than anything. ”The pool really is amazing and so is the privacy of having the pool house to myself. The pool is heated aswell so I can take morning swims before work and it’s kinda heavenly.”

She smiled. The cola here generally was perfect. She loved the cold feeing of the ice cubes on her tongue and the cola was really sweet and tasty – it wasn’t watered down at all. ”I don’t know how they make the coke here so good. It tastes nothing like the bottled crap.” She didn’t realise the slip of the tongue and chuckled afterwards but didn’t bother to apologise. ”I’m Amy.” She said when he introduced himself and she sat down across from him in the booth and wished she didn’t the scummy waitress outfit on. ”I’m a painter, by trade.” She joked with a cheeky grin. ”I do paint though. It’s why I want to go to art school. Other than that just the norm really.” She said, twirling her straw in the cola. ”How about you?”

Some sort of mafia criminal father would probably seem right about awesome compared to his father to Asa. At least when a son tried and followed the orders of a mobboss dad he could get somewhere in life with it came to approval. The life itself may be bad and hard to leave it but the first step to progress would be seen and taken into account. That was more that could ever be said about his dad. Because it just seemed that no matter what he did it was never good enough. His father always found a reason to gripe, complain and just outright disapprove and cast you out in shame. Without the least bit of mercy.

He chuckled lightly when Amy was speaking up about serving the folks of Belmont “There could be if I was doing it.” he countered with a slow spreading grin but he nodded slowly when following what she said. “Well my oldest bro works at Reddicks.. Was thinking maybe I can get something there. Would be nice if I could get something a bit better though because even there its all about good tips and shit..

He had to slowly smile when learning about Amy’s ‘trainer’ giving her a few tips about the flirty, but it turned out to be something that kinda fell on deaf ears given Amy admitted to not knowing how. It had Asa suddenly laughing. “Y’kidding me. C’mon everyone knows how to flirt in some way or another. You just probably don’t realize you’re doing it. But I think just admitting that right there, to enough of this fine people of this town you’ll earn yourself more tips than her.” he all but could guarantee. Giving her a nod and wink while smirking.

Ah architect. Cool dad.” he nodded lightly with the compliment “I think I would either sink or swim with my own place. But it is a nice idea to have. If I were to consider my own place though, you’re seriously making me consider getting a pool. You plan on hitting the beach this summer though? That’s when everyone comes out and the bonfires alone are a lot of fun!

He chuckled lightly taking a nice size swallow of the refreshing drink. It wasn’t about alcohol all the time. A few cans of soda or some other energy beverage was just as addictive and hit the spot when needed. “They definitely don’t water down the stuff, which I really appreciate!” He was smiling when she introduced herself, and was saying what she liked to do. “Yah.. And what do you like to paint?” He was giving a shrug when questioned about himself “Oh I make it a great hobby of mine to annoy my brothers and even some of my step siblings on a regular, sometimes hourly basis. When im not hitting a party, hanging out with my friends or sleeping the day away. But uh.. other than that I have a couple bikes I like to work on. Though I haven’t for awhile now. Just.. haven’t been in as much a mood. Then uh.. I don’t know. I’ve been spending a lot of time with my stepsister. She lost a friend, in an accident so, its been pretty rough on her, us..me..” he shrugged it was kind of what put them in this situation to begin with. Him looking into colleges, his dad blackmailing… because he had lost his temper. But with very good reason. The guy that’d taken advantage of Kay deserved what he got and should be lucky it wasn’t more.

She arched an eyebrow. ”Why is that exactly.” She asked, tilting her head. Was he going to throw the food at them? Or get into a fight? She didn’t see a lot of male waiters in Hayes now that she thought about it. ”I went there for dinner one night … after here.” She normally didn’t stay in for dinner after shift. It was just a little habit that she had. ”They make some pretty fine steak there. Which one was your brother?” She remembered seeing a blonde haired guy and a short brown haired guy with short brown hair … the latter certainly the more intimidating of the two. ”I don’t think a job like this is mean to be a forever type thing … or a primary job for an adult.” Most she knew were students in between jobs or just looking for extra cash.

She shook her head. ”I don’t know how to flirt.” She said again. She remembered Lindsay doing her best to “teach” her how to flirt. However, that wasn’t the only thing that Lindsay tried to teach her how to do and she had vivid memories of some of the things Lindsay tried to get her involved in. ”I probably have come across as flirtatious because I’ll talk to people who are eating here but if someone told me to come over to you and flirt … I’d probably just stand here all awkward and maybe ask about the weather.” She shook her head.

Her father had been a nice man but he was also a coward. He did whatever her mother told him and Amy spent a lot of her sixteen and a half years at home wishing he would just speak up ONCE because she knew he didn’t agree with all of her mother’s rules. She just shrugged when he said that having an architect for a Dad was cool. ”You should get a pool. It’s super relaxing. I sort of lucked out though and it won’t last forever.” Like the boy on The OC some drama was bound to crop up sooner or later. She was more or less waiting for it to happen. ”Beach, bikinis, eh not really my sort of thing.” This town seemed to have a watchful eye and the scarring on her legs would probably become a talking point for all the wrong reasons. ”I think probably just the pool for me.” She had never been to a bonfire so that made her a little curious. She was just very cautious with her appearance.

She licked her lips. ”It may actually be the opposite – we might actually add sugar to the coke to make it sweeter around here.” She giggled softly as she took another long sip from her glass. She knew the woman in charge of drinks knew that people came into Hayes for the drinks nowadays. The other diners in town served up crap drinks so they had running for them. ”I paint … anything. I really like painting animals.” She said with a soft nod of the head. She had a thing about tigers and well, predators in general. ”So you ride motorbikes then?” She chuckled at his comment about annoying his brothers and step sisters. ”How many of them are there? I mean the brothers and these step siblings that you talk about?” She ask curiously as the food for them started to come out.

Those big brown eyes blinked and shifted to look back up at her, the question seeming to throw him off slightly when actually giving it some thought. He had to shrug and shake his head lightly “I don’t know really, I think I just wouldn’t be cut out for something like that. Im not always costumer friendly and I do have a few buddies that will probably give me a hard time and cause a bit of trouble.” He was giving a nod though “We’ll see how it works out. May end up needing a quick spot here as I search for something else if this college thing doesn’t work out. Which im beginning to think more and more it probably wont

He smiled lightly at the mention of his brother “Reddick’s is a great bar. Best food, best drinks, and pretty great music. My brother would be the crazy one probably. Close cropped hair, getting all the ladies numbers, enjoying playing Bouncer a little too much to those that get out of control.” But he was having to laugh when it came to the topic of flirting “well I don’t know about ever being able to teach someone how to flirt. I think it is something that just comes naturally and really is a matter of opinion because what works as flirting to one person may just be outright strange to another. But you don’t need to flirt to get any extra tips. So don’t worry about that trust me.

He chuckled and gave a nod “I think I will have to try and get one. You’re making it sound more andm ore like a good idea.” Brows perked though he could almost tell from looking at her, and from what she’d been saying thus far she definitely wasn’t the wild beach babe type. Still.. “Oh c’mon. You live in a beach town. It’s like an unwritten tradition that you have to go swimming in the ocean at least once when the temperatures start warming up.

He couldn’t help but smile all the more at her cute giggle and he raised his glass “Well that sounds just perfect, and you can count on that secret being safe with me.” he took another sip and nodding with a wink, setting his glass down “its excellent.” He was finding her all the more interesting, something about her being a painter, it was something he always found intriguing and cool. But nothing he would ever allow himself to dabble in really. “Yah, what type of animals you like?

He was giving a nod “Yep. Ride’em and work on them. I have a few. But I may be needing to trade one in for an actual car soon.” She must’ve been rather knew or just not that into the news and talk of the town to seriously not know as much about him as it seemed most everyone he socialized with did. “I have three brothers, its James, the oldest, who would be the one that works at Reddicks. Jackson, me, and the youngest. And then four step siblings. Grayson, he a teacher at the highschool. Lexi, better known as the devil herself, Rae..shes probably the only cool step sibling I never had a beef with.. and the youngest..Kailyn..shes going through a rough time right now.
