<span style="color: #047B50; text-align: center; font-family: courier new; font-size: 1Opx; text-transform: uppercase;"> Stubborn:</span>
A trait very much inherited from Gemma Costello, Grayson has always been tough to sway. Once he has made his mind up about something, it’s going to take a lot for him to view something differently. It’s why, with him, first impressions are so important. It is also why you don’t do him wrong; a perfect example of this would be the relationship between his sister and “stepbrother”. They snuck around, essentially lying to him and the rest of their families, only to be outed on a social networking site. The anger and betrayal he feels because of that is something he can’t just shake off, no matter how badly he wishes he could. He refuses to look at the situation in any other light.
<p>
<span style="color: #047B50; text-align: center; font-family: courier new; font-size: 1Opx; text-transform: uppercase;"> Cynical:</span>
Usually, the term cynical is seen as a negative trait. It sounds as though Grayson has this continuous doubt on someone’s integrity, but it’s not how he is. He doesn’t get his hopes up for things because he can’t guarantee that it will happen. It’s not because he doesn’t believe people or is distrusting, it’s just that he prefers to look at things in that fashion so that he doesn’t get his hopes up to see them get smashed. He’d prefer to believe in the worse and be pleasantly surprised with the results rather than disappointed.
<p>
<span style="color: #047B50; text-align: center; font-family: courier new; font-size: 1Opx; text-transform: uppercase;"> Analytical: </span>
Grayson over thinks just about everything. When he needs to make a decision, he looks over every angle, every single pro and con that one could possibly imagine before coming to a decision. This is both a positive and negative trait; but he embraces it as what has made him the person that he is. He has never been impulsive nor has he ever jumped into anything without weighing, <i>at the very least</i> what his choice would do the people that matter to him. It could be viewed as him putting others before him or it could be viewed as the most frustrating thing in the entire world. After all, who wants a friend that takes days (if not a week) to decide if a weekend getaway is the right thing to do? He takes the longest of everyone to order something off of a menu and just overall takes him time and never rushes something.
<p>
<span style="color: #047B50; text-align: center; font-family: courier new; font-size: 1Opx; text-transform: uppercase;"> Paternal:</span>
Grayson was the oldest brother to three very rambunctious and very beautiful females. He was expected to be there for all three girls and protect them from anything or anyone that could possibly hurt them. At a very young age he took that responsibility to heart. He made it a point to check in on his sisters and see that they were doing well in their studies as well as in their personal lives. It is because of this that he feels somewhat responsible for everything that his sisters have been through. When something bad happens to them, he views it as a personal failure; something that he failed to stop happen to them. With his baby sister especially, he finds himself trying to be the father figure that she lost at a young age. He wants to do his father proud.
<p>
<span style="color: #047B50; text-align: center; font-family: courier new; font-size: 1Opx; text-transform: uppercase;"> Insightful:</span>
Grayson has always been the one within his group of friends that people came to when they had a problem; not necessarily because he took his time and looked at things from an analytical standpoint, but because he always had a clear and deep perception about it. He took their question to heart and worked to make sure that the answer they needed was thought over and gave them the best answer that he could possibly give. He has also found that his students rely on this as well and come to him when they need his insight on something that they are going through.
<p>
<br><div style="font-family: 'Wire One', sans-serif; font-size: 30px; text-align: center; text-transform: lowercase;">into the past</div><p>
<span style="color: #047B50; text-align: center; font-family: courier new; font-size: 1Opx; text-transform: uppercase;"> September 21, 1984:</span>
Grayson Seth Costello was born to Gemma and Keith Costello on a relatively warm September afternoon. His parents were ecstatic that not only did they have their first child, but it was a son. They doted on him instantly and were beyond thrilled to show off their new baby boy to anyone that cared to know or see (and a few that didn’t really care either way).
<p>
<span style="color: #047B50; text-align: center; font-family: courier new; font-size: 1Opx; text-transform: uppercase;">Age 2:</span>
When Grayson was two years old, his parents brought home from the hospital a brand new baby girl, Alexis. He was beyond excited to have a little sister and instantly took to the role of big brother. He would “hold” her whenever his parents allowed him and was constantly kissing the top of her head and “shh-ing” her when she cried. He loved getting to take care of her, even at such a little age.
<p>
<span style="color: #047B50; text-align: center; font-family: courier new; font-size: 1Opx; text-transform: uppercase;"> Age 5:</span>
Kindergarten, for everyone, is a very exciting year. For most it is a time to transition between being at home with a parent to spending time with one adult and lots of other kids within the same age. While some children sat at their table and cried for hours about missing their mommy, Grayson took to it all instantly. He found himself constantly excited to go to school every day; he loved getting to play with his new best friend Porter McCarthy, but even more than that he loved learning about new things like how to read and write.
<p>
<span style="color: #047B50; text-align: center; font-family: courier new; font-size: 1Opx; text-transform: uppercase;"> Age 6:</span>
At the age of six, Grayson was once more granted another sibling. While he had been hoping for another little boy (to possibly even out the playing field) he was thrilled for another little sister, Raleigh Elizabeth. This time around he felt more responsibility on his little shoulders because he had two baby sisters to take care of. He proudly displayed pictures of his sisters to his first grade class, proud to share how important his role was with them.
<p>
<span style="color: #047B50; text-align: center; font-family: courier new; font-size: 1Opx; text-transform: uppercase;"> Age 11:</span>
Grayson was pretty sure that his life couldn’t get any better. He had his parents who he loved and two adorable younger sisters. But he was beside himself when he found out his mom was once more pregnant. He prayed every night that she would have a little baby boy; a brother that he could play with and share all of his knowledge with. He and Porter would sit around trying to think up boy names and tell them to Keith and Gemma Costello. When Kailyn Paige was born, instead of being disappointed like everyone expected him to be- Grayson took one look at the little girl and knew that she would have him wrapped around her little finger.
<p>
<span style="color: #047B50; text-align: center; font-family: courier new; font-size: 1Opx; text-transform: uppercase;"> Age 14:</span>
High school was a whole new experience for Grayson. He was thrilled to be in a much larger school and excited to see what clubs and opportunities would be provided to him. He decided right away that he would join the newspaper team and though he had little to no knowledge about sports, decided to be on that team so that he would have a reason to go to the games other than to cheer on his best friend, Porter McCarthy. His love for history and wanting to document everything that happened while he was in high school had him joining the yearbook staff.
<p>
<span style="color: #047B50; text-align: center; font-family: courier new; font-size: 1Opx; text-transform: uppercase;"> May 2004:</span>
It was a surprise to no one when Grayson graduated among the top in his class. What <i>did</i> surprise most was that he chose to attend Dalton University instead of the other schools he was offered scholarships to. It became a bit of a sore point with his parents, the fact that he was choosing to “lower himself” but he wasn’t prepared to leave his family or his best friend. He decided he wanted to remain in Belmont.
<p>
<span style="color: #047B50; text-align: center; font-family: courier new; font-size: 1Opx; text-transform: uppercase;"> August 2004:</span>
Enrolling at Dalton University, Grayson knew right away what he wanted to major in. Because of the higher-level courses that he took in high school, he already had two years of college classes under his belt and could immediately set out to work on his major. His love for history helped gear him towards his chosen profession: history teacher. He had always enjoyed helping his sisters with their homework or tutoring and had decided early on that teaching was the right path for him.
<p>
<span style="color: #047B50; text-align: center; font-family: courier new; font-size: 1Opx; text-transform: uppercase;"> May 2006:</span>
Two years after enrolling in Dalton, Grayson walked across the stage to receive his diploma with a degree in history education. Instead of going right into teaching, he decided to continue his education and work towards getting his masters degree.
<p>
<span style="color: #047B50; text-align: center; font-family: courier new; font-size: 1Opx; text-transform: uppercase;"> May 2008:</span>
Nothing made Grayson more proud than to walk once more across the stage and receive his masters’ degree. His entire family sat in the stands as they watched him transfer his tassel from one side of his cap to the other. The grin on his face was never ending and the feeling of success was unimaginable. In that moment he felt like King of the World. He had his whole world set out in front of him.
<p>
<span style="color: #047B50; text-align: center; font-family: courier new; font-size: 1Opx; text-transform: uppercase;"> December 2008: </span>
If there was ever a defining moment in one’s life, this would be it. A phone call changed him; Keith Costello was dead. The man that he looked up to and wanted to make proud with every thing he did was no longer alive. He took the death of his father poorly and found himself a shell of the man that he once was. The preparations for the funeral kept his mind and thoughts occupied and he held his sisters’ hands while they watched their father’s casket into the ground.
<p>
<span style="color: #047B50; text-align: center; font-family: courier new; font-size: 1Opx; text-transform: uppercase;"> January 2009:</span>
It wasn’t until Raleigh moved back to New York, that Grayson officially lost it. He turned to alcohol and pushed everyone away as he self-destructed. This was the darkest time in his life and one that he never likes to think back on. The person that was able to pull him out of it, however, was his baby sister. She walked into his house and gave him a stern lecture and was able to get him to clean up his act and back on track.
<p>
<span style="color: #047B50; text-align: center; font-family: courier new; font-size: 1Opx; text-transform: uppercase;"> August 2009:</span>
Grayson was given a job at St. Augustine as a history teacher. He was eager to get a start on the school year and worked hard to make sure that he made a strong impression with his alma mater. He took to his job quickly and found a groove that fit with both his students as well as his colleagues and was soon finding himself in a good place in his life.
<p>
<span style="color: #047B50; text-align: center; font-family: courier new; font-size: 1Opx; text-transform: uppercase;"> November 2009:</span>
Not even a year after the funeral of Keith Costello, Gemma Costello informed her family that she would be marrying Adam Benson. She refused to listen to her children’s feelings on the matter and forced them to attend the wedding. It didn’t matter that Grayson was angry and refused to say more than a few words to her leading up to the wedding. He did his “duties” as a son and stood there to watch the wedding and took pictures but then walked away and swore that he would never forgive his mother.
<p>
<span style="color: #047B50; text-align: center; font-family: courier new; font-size: 1Opx; text-transform: uppercase;"> January 2010:</span>
An earthquake occurred over the winter season and in that quake, he lost his best friend Porter McCarthy. He helped Mia (Porter’s sister) in planning the funeral and held her hand during the funeral. This time, however, he was able to pull himself out of any sort of depression and found himself being able to push through because of his job and sisters.
<p>
<span style="color: #047B50; text-align: center; font-family: courier new; font-size: 1Opx; text-transform: uppercase;"> Summer 2011:</span>
Nothing angered Grayson more than to see his baby sister get constantly pushed to the sidelines. He was always fighting with his mother and making it clear to her how she was ruining Kailyn’s life. He and Kailyn both decided to move her into his house figuring that it would be in her best interest to live with him and get the help and attention that she needs.
<p>
<br><div style="font-family: 'Wire One', sans-serif; font-size: 30px; text-align: center; text-transform: lowercase;">the family</div><p>
<span style="color: #047B50; text-align: center; font-family: courier new; font-size: 1Opx; text-transform: uppercase;"> Keith Costello: </span>
Keith Costello was someone that Grayson looked up to. In his mind, the man could do no wrong. He was always striving to grow up and become just like his father; maybe not with his profession but the type of man that he was. He wanted to be the main breadwinner of a family and support his wife and children. He used to sit in his father’s den next to his desk and do his homework while his father did some of the work that he brought home from the office. He took the death of his father poorly and found himself a shell of a man that he once was. He took it to heart when his mom decided to remarry and has refused to be a part of this new “family”. He felt as though it was a betrayal to his father (and still does) and refuses to do that to the man that he emulates.
<p>
<span style="color: #047B50; text-align: center; font-family: courier new; font-size: 1Opx; text-transform: uppercase;"> Gemma Costello:</span>
When he was younger, Grayson had a solid relationship with his mother. She wanted to have that mama’s boy and was disappointed to find how much he loved his father more. She seemed to dote on her children when they were young but as they (and she) got older, she began to focus more on making a name for their family- or so it appeared. A lot of the more negative traits that Grayson inherited come from Gemma; she’s hard-headed and after the death of Keith Costello, Grayson viewed her in a whole new light. He lost all respect for her and at this point refuses to even talk to her now.
<p>
<span style="color: #047B50; text-align: center; font-family: courier new; font-size: 1Opx; text-transform: uppercase;"> Alexis Nathalie Costello:</span>
The relationship between Grayson and Alexis has always been a bit strained, to say the least. He was only two years old when she was born but he took his big brother role very seriously. He held her as a baby but as they got older, and her temper began to flare their relationship began to dwindle. As hard as he worked to try and protect her (mostly from herself or their mother’s wrath) it never seemed to be enough for her. Instead of being there for her like he should have- he found himself just standing in the background especially when it came to the “intervention” that landed her in a mental facility for some time. He wanted to protect her and “save” her, but he had no way of doing so. He looks at that as one of the biggest failures in his life.
<p>
<span style="color: #047B50; text-align: center; font-family: courier new; font-size: 1Opx; text-transform: uppercase;"> Raleigh Elizabeth Costello:</span>
When they were younger, Raleigh used to crack Grayson up. He would watch their mom dress her up in some frilly dress and laugh as she came back with grass stains all over it. He would sometimes get chastised for egging her on, but he would just shrug his shoulders. He was always close to his sister and was really upset to see her move away for college even though he was proud of her as well. Her moving away again after their father’s death is what triggered his depression and pushed him to a bad place. He was overjoyed to have her back in his life when she moved once more back home, but was soon not so happy when things went south. He was informed that his sister had been keeping a relationship with her step brother secret from him and he was infuriated. Their relationship has yet to come back from that and neither are even sure that it will survive.
<p>
<span style="color: #047B50; text-align: center; font-family: courier new; font-size: 1Opx; text-transform: uppercase;"> Kailyn Paige Costello:</span>
Grayson has always had a special place in his heart for Kaily. He was always much more protective of her because of how breakable she has always appeared to be. He could see how easily she was getting pushed to the side when it came to their mother and after the death of their dad and her remarriage he was sick to his stomach over the way she was treated. He went above and beyond to help make sure she felt more comfortable and was treated the way she deserved. It didn’t take long for him to realize that she was going to get lost in the shuffle and suggested moving her into the house that he owned. She was the one that was able to pull him out of his drunken stupor after their father’s death and overall their bond has just continued to grow.<p>
<br><div style="font-family: 'Wire One', sans-serif; font-size: 30px; text-align: center; text-transform: lowercase;">into his future</div><p>
Grayson has always wanted what his dad had. This includes the wife and children. The idea of settling down was always something that he had dreamed of, but lately it seems as though his priorities have shifted immensely. The only relationship he seems to have outside of his family is that of his job. His focus has been solely on not just keeping his job but his reputation around the small town of Belmont. He fears losing that job and the failure that would mean. Because of this, any females that seem to show interest have to understand that his sisters come first as does his job.
