Title: Bible Passage Game

Wren - September 3, 2006 01:41 AM (GMT)
With this game, just quote your favourite Bible verses or passages...it must be no more than 4 verses per post. :)

Acts 2:38-41

Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call."

With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, "Save yourselves from this corrupt generation." Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.

Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:

Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,

Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,

Who satisfies your mouth with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.

and by his wounds we are healed.

jimmy_tst - September 15, 2006 01:11 PM (GMT)
This bears repeating, as it's one of the most beautiful verses that we can meditate on. :) I love the way one of my church pastors broke it down and fed on it like this:

John 3:16

For God --> the greatest Saviour, Creator, Being, King, Lord
so --> the greatest intensity
loved --> the greatest virtue
the world --> the greatest inclusion - everyone included
that He gave --> the greatest generosity
His only begotten Son --> the greatest gift
that whoever --> the greatest invitation to everyone
believes in Him --> the greatest simplicity
should not perish --> the greatest escape/rescue
but have everlasting life --> the greatest possession/inheritance
(we "have" now the moment we believe, not "will have" in the future. Everlasting life, or eternal life, is explained in John 17:3.)

greyfeather - September 16, 2006 10:38 AM (GMT)

Jhon 13:34-35

A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

Proverbs 27:5,6;9;17

Better is open rebuke
Than love that is concealed.

Faithful are the wounds of a friend,
But deceitful are the kisses of an enemy.

Oil and perfume make the heart glad,
So a man's counsel is sweet to his friend.

Iron sharpens iron,
So one man sharpens another.
