Does the laying on of hands for healing exist today? A young man recently asked me this. His uncle knew a woman who was not right mentally. He went to his elders and they prayed and layed their hands on her and she was healed. Did this actually happen? Lets look at the bible... The laying on of hands was a gift of the Holy Spirit to the apostles which was to be used for proof of doctrine. They could not heal people at will, the Holy Spirit directed them. This tells us you must be given the gift of the Holy Spirit first. This gift was only given twice... once to the apostles and once to the soldiers in Acts to prove that gentiles could recieve salvation. About 100 -125A.D., the gospel was available for study and the laying on of hands for proof was no longer needed and ceased to exist. Was the woman mentioned above healed... YES, but not from the laying on of hands. She was healed because God heard the prayers of His children through His son and answered those prayers healing the woman. There is no example nor command nor instruction in the New Testiment after 100 - 125A.D. of man healing someone.
I would like to hear what some of you have to say about this subject.
Have a good and blessed holiday. :gathering:
