The old man led them to three beds that were already laid out and ready to use. Jasper thanked the old man and was already getting ready for bed, removing his jacket and hat and putting them aside. He wore a cobalt-gray sleeveless shirt and charcoal-black pants. Around his waist were his six Pokemon, safe in their Pokeballs. "Good night," Jasper said before going to bed.

Jasper instantly fell asleep and ended up in a weird dream. It started off dark, but light shone and revealed that he was on an island. There weren't much trees, just rocks, dirt, and sand. Not to mention that the forest ahead gave him the creeps. Jasper looked around, seeing that Sammy was there and Maria as well. The thing that unsettled him most was that there was no boat. "Move forward," Jasper mumbled, remembering the task at hand. Jasper walked ahead of the other trainers into the forest and from a distance saw the Pokemon Darkrai.

The Pokemon's blue eyes stared at the Trainer and stunned him in place. "Darkrai..." Jasper uttered its name.

Khinn had managed to defeat the Gym Trainers (thanks to Lance being a Steel-type) and the puzzle of the Gym. The only thing left was the Gym Leader. Volkner accepted her challenge and the battle commenced. However, during the middle of the round her fellow grunts barged in and dragged her out, forcing her on a boat. "Hey! What's the big deal?!" Khinn said with a growl. "Order from 'igher-ups, Nihks. We 'afta get ter Hoenn," explained one of the Grunts. "WHAT?!"

Maria lay on her bed provided by the old man and tried to remember what she had forgotten. She had a feeling it explained the suspiciousness of the old man and this inn, but she could still not remember. She rolled her eyes to herself and replied "Good night" when Jasper said the same thing.

In her dream, she was on a strange island with Jasper and Sammy. She looked around and did not recognize anything. Extremely confused, she followed Jasper, who seemed to have some idea of what to do. "Where the heck are we?" she wondered aloud.

Before anyone could answer, Jasper suddenly stopped, and Maria looked past him when he muttered the word "Darkrai." Maria's eyes widened in shock, recognizing the name and the pokemon in front of them. Darkrai was one of the many pokemon she used to read about all the time, but now she was staring at it right in the face.
