The long, eerie sigh from the subway echoed throughout the deserted station. The subway doors stayed open as to welcome anyone who might be around the seemingly abandoned area. Aurora's small messenger bag rested on her lap which filled with many books that she needed for school for tomorrow. She was exhausted from the day's work and wanted nothing more than to go home and sleep. Aurora took in a deep breath, inhaling the recycled air and the scent of the used subway seats, closed her eyes, and allowed her mind to wonder. It would be awhile before she would reach her stop.

Thom got on at his stop. He still had his lab coat on as he entered the almost deserted car. He sat next to a young girl. He pulled his hair out of the short pony tail he wore to work. He pulled a sudoku book out of his pocket and started working on it. It was going to be a long ride.

Aurora opened her eyes and noticed Thom getting onto the subway. She didn't look directly at the strange man who had gotten onto the car but watched his every movements out of the corner of her eye until he sat down next to her. 'Of all the seats in the car...' She thought sighing but didn't mind it much. Aurora noticed the sudoku book that he had taken out. It was the "in" thing nowadays so she wasn't too surprised to see it. Aurora wasn't too bad at sudoku herself. The subway doors finally closed and with a small jerk to get itself started, the subway was on its way to its next destination.

Thom stared at the booklett. 'Aww man....why do I suck so bad at these ' He wrote in a number. 'I think I got it wrong...' He looked over to the girl sitting next to him. "I'm not too good at these, do you have any suggestions?" He asked, a friendly look on his face.

Aurora was taken aback by the sudden conversation but quickly regained her senses and looked at Thom. "Um...Well, you should not only look at the individual box sections, but also the rows and columns for where you should place the numbers," she explained showing him what she was talking about by pointing out certain boxes and numbers on his piece of paper. Aurora felt important at this moment, feeling happy to be needed. Sure, she was smart, but because of her shyness, she never orally expressed how smart she really was so many students in her class were left guessing. "And here, you could place a 1 since there's already a 1 in the rows and colomns here and here," she explained giving an example to her reasoning.

Thom's mouth hung open slightly. "Oh...oh wow...thats amazing." He smiled. "How I ever made it through med school is beyond me." He looked at the puzzle again, occastionally asking her where certain numbers should go and so on.

Aurora smiled at his comment and happily pointed out hints as to where certain numbers went and dropped a few tips along the way. She didn't even know the man, let alone his name, but strangely found herself feeling as if she had known him for the longest time. Aurora found it odd how she opened up to this man from just a simple question of her opinion. Maybe it was because she was never asked her opinion, not after high-school that is.

Thom smiled. He liked this girl. She was nice. "Hey, what's your name?" He asked smiling, pluging in the numbers she had suggested. "I wanna write it here next to this puzzle, you did most of it after all." Thom said.

She blushed at the statement and looked down at her lap. "Aurora," she replied sheepishly. No-one had ever asked her for her name before, not publicly that is. The subway began to slow down and with a small jerk, the train came to a complete stop. It let out its life-like sigh and the doors opened letting air in and out of the subway. As it was late at night, this station was no different from the last station where Thom had gotten on at. "May I ask what your name is?"

Thom scribled Aurora's name onto the book. "Thom" He said, looking up and holding out his free hand. "Thom Smith." He cracked a grin at his awfully common name. "Kinda a suck name, no?" He asked, chuckling to himself.

Aurora looked at him and then to his out held hand. She hesitated at first as it was awhile since this gesture had been presented to her but followed through with the greeting. Aurora loosely gripped Thom's hand and shook it slightly. "Aurora Stella. I think your name is quite original," she said smiling at the man sitting beside her.

Thom let out a bark of laughter. "You'd be the first." He continued doing his sudoku. "Where do you work?" Thom asked, trying to make conversation.

"Um...Well, when I'm not at school, I work at a coffee shop during the day and bartend at night. It's not all that impressive as you're job, I assume, but it pays the bills," Aurora replied chuckling. "And you?"

"I"m a doctor in hell." He said smiling. "I would love to learn some bar tending skills though. My Ex always bragged about being good with drinks, but she never showed it off." Thom pouted, and then laughed. "Can you do those bar tending tricks?" Thom asked. "Like throw the bottle up in the air and pour the liquor."

"Yeah, sure," Aurora said laughing. "Why don't you come down sometime? The name is "Club Blaze". I work from 6-10 so I'll be hard to miss." She looked up at the light up map and noticed that in about 2 more stops, she would have to get off. "If you ever have trouble finding me, ask anyone working there; everyone knows who I am."
