A man quietly sat on the bench, gnawing on a cherry lollipop. He kept his sharp teeth on the hard candy as he played with his eyebrow piercings. He was idly wasting his time, gnawing on his lollipop still and played with his other facial piercings on his lower lip, his right cartilage, his two eyebrow piercings and even his tongue piercing. He sighed as he stared off into the sky and then stared at the nearest streetlamp and read the profanities that were graffitied onto the pole.
A teenage girl was jogging through the park, listening to her MP3 player while humming along with the music. It was a fast paced song, and she always thought that fast songs pushed her to run faster, just to keep up the pace. She paused for a moment to take a drink from the fountain and to catch her breath. She sighed. She hadn’t gone jogging for a while and the exercise felt refreshing.
“What brings the stray to the park?” She wondered aloud as she watched from a distance atop a flickering street lamp. Her hair ribbon danced wildly with the wind while she stood as still as a cat watching her prey. She jumped down from her post before the light went out. The clear sky soon became dark with storm clouds and the wind began to pick up violently blowing leaves and garbage around. The wind blew her hair in front of her face, forming a veil in front of her eyes.
The man watched, seeing something move. He raised an eyebrow and sighed. ‘ There’s someone there… and… uhh…’ He thought as he put his lollipop to the side of his mouth. He then saw someone was getting water from the water fountain. It was strange for this many people to be out at night. As for him, he seemed to be a regular at the very bench he sat on. ‘ Hmmm… Lots of people tonight. I wonder if something is going to happen?’ He asked himself.
She looked up and realized there was someone standing on top of a street lamp. How the heck did the stranger pull that off? She watched in wonder when the figure jumped off the post just as the light went out. She raised her eyebrow when she noticed a man on the bench was looking at her. Okay…there are weird people in the park today.
