Welcome to Checkmate Marauders Version Four

Welcome Back
Welcome Back to Checkmate Marauders! We're sorry about the 2-day long wait to get CaM open, but the Administration Team worked to their fullest to get Checkmate Marauders Version Four up and running as soon as possible.
We are also sorry that our forums have currently been reduced to nothingness. It is up to our members to bring our post count back up. The Administrators and Moderators (shown at the left) will be working their hardest to bring Out of Character forums back up to date as quickly as possible.
Thanks, The Checkmate Marauders Administration Staff

Darkness has fallen over the wizarding world, the line between good and evil has been drawn. Death Eaters are becoming more consistent and deadlier each time. The Ministry of Magic has been put under scrutiny making way for a new Mistress of magic, a possible last hope. Hogwarts is barely considered the safe haven it once was, there is darkness lurking in the walls. It’s now the time when everyone must pick the side that they will stand and fight for. Which side will you choose?

The promo pics of Dan for Eqqus what do you all think?

I personally dont think there is anything wrong with what he is doing, I think it is a good idea for him to try and break out of the Harry Potter mold while he is still young.

Yeah I think its good for him, and hey, lots of publisity, I just don't see why he has to do a play like that. Personally I don't mind it, but I have a ten year old little sister who stumbled across an artical for it and she kinda freaked out.

Though I'm one to completely agree with freedom to do what you want, I have to agree with Katelyn.

He's a childstar, whether he likes it or not. And, to some extent, he has to portray someone respectible, especially with all those kids that love Harry Potter.

True, there isn't anything wrong with nudity... its all how its acted out.

I think what we need to understand is that he is an actor and if he is forever seen as Harry Potter he won’t have a career after the 7th movie. So this is a way to show another dimension of himself.

As for being nude it’s his choice. Here in America we see nudity as being something wrong… we associate it with sick, perverted or even evil. But in many other nations and cultures nudity is just a basic of life.

I agree with you Gabe, if he doesn't escape the mold now he will be forever stuck in it. Yes maybe Eqqus is a little extreme but it is something that will get him noticed more in Hollywood. Also, and I mean no offense at all to the Americans on this board 'cause I know you are all very open minded, but nudity is not something to be ashamed of, in Britain it is one of those thiongs that nobody really cares about.

I was shocked of his new pictures. In the Goblet of Fire he took his shirt off but that was cute. Then I saw him with the horse and I was like , ummm ok not so cute, now he has more than the shirt gone. And he is how old? I think he should have waited at least till the Harry Potter movies were over. Because tons of little girls will hear about the horse/ nude thing and who knows what they may do. Because children are very impressionable. Im a little disappointed in Dan. He could have chose better timing.

I agree with you Sarah about us American’s taking nudity way too seriously. Not that I am personally condoning anything explicit … but when it is done with artist value we need to understand that view behind it.

Look at the art done during the renaissance, the Greek and Roman periods… they made something beautiful from the human form. I study medicine and I’ve learned to be less modest about certain things… I just stop viewing the naked body from something outside the norm to a a grand structure.

That is exactly what i think. What I dont think some people understand about the play is that acting is an art form, and that the nudity in Eqqus has been written that way for nearly forty years, it is entering the inner psche of a troubled boys mind, it is very artistic I think.

Well, I'm american and I have no issues with nudity, I'm not exactly what you would call conservitive, and you probably don't want to know this but my father has spent time in a nudest colony. Personaly I was raised to belive that the human body is a beautiful thing and isnt something to be ashamed of. I still think that Dan could have chosen a better play, becasue there are alot of kids out there that look up to him becasue hes well Harry Potter, artistic or not he's not setting the best example. I was talking to my litte sister and she told me that after talking to the 9 year old boy across the street about the play a bit, he went and asked him mom if he could take his cloths off because Harry Potter did it. Thats really my point here, wether or not your ashamed of nudity or not, kids wanting to run arond naked because harry potter did it is so not cool.

I was more shocked on how much older he looks than the nudity thing. I think its a good thing for him to branch out, he probably doesn't want to be known as "Harry Potter" all his life. This gives him a chance to break out and show people that he has farther depth and range in his acting capabilities

I agree that he should branch out and make a name for himself besides harry potter, but i also think that he should keep in mind that he is idolized by alot of young children that will be hearing about this.
