Description: Mah thread no trolling!

Scud - May 27, 2011 08:58 PM (GMT)
It would seem your ill conceived "punishment" for jerry has created more problems than solutions. Discuss!

Ross Vernal - May 27, 2011 09:02 PM (GMT)
Discuss why we need another thread instead of bitching in the what, 4 existing threads?

Agreed.
Jerry should have been BANNED.
...so retarded little minions couldn't override his more than lenient punishment.

You whine and cry that "he's not as effective of a player when he's muted" but you forgot that HE'S FUCKING LUCKY HE'S ALLOWED IN THE SERVER AT ALL.
Then when you morons are successful in "freeing him" you sit back and laugh as he continues being an abusive dick.

You can't come to a conclusion based on two votes that were almost reversible identical. One game 7 people wanted him unmuted. One game, apparently 7 people wanted him muted.

Though I figure that if he was getting more "no" votes than he was "yes" votes to unmute him, we wouldn't hear people talking about it as much, and it wouldn't really be a big deal.

maybe the people who want him unmuted are more vocal? hmmm lets see you perrin scud all post on these forums regularly therefore we hear more of you guys defending the "honorable" jerry garcia wile the others who are in favor of his muting say nothing because they have there wish

(=SK=)Zorak - May 27, 2011 11:32 PM (GMT)
Uhh... What?

I was talking about in-game. If he is regularly unmuted, and we hear the people who don't want him muted bitching about that, then it stands to reason that Jerry is getting unmuted somewhat regularly, and for such a thing to occur, there would have to be a significant number of players who indeed do want him unmuted.

PS. You used one quotation in your sentences... I don't remember any of us calling Jerry Garcia "honorable".

[NHOP] lil Tigga - May 27, 2011 11:44 PM (GMT)
ok in game is a different story there's a bunch of noobs that will vote for anything. i was just trying to put it in a different perspective .the fact of the matter is that un baned or not i will accept what the owners choose because it is there sever.

i also didn't mean to insinuate that you or perrin said that he was honorable.i was being sarcastic i dont know what the protocol for sarcasm in a forum so please enlighten me so i can convey that next time.

Scud - May 27, 2011 11:51 PM (GMT)
Just because jerry has been successful in trolling a number of you forum regulars (due to your own invitation and "feeding of the trolls"), doesn't mean he goes around being that nasty to everyone in game. It's the BR regulars who typically vote yes, the people who don't talk much and don't post in any Tribes forums.

My whole beef is the in-game mute which I found unnecessary and the inability of so many people to defend themselves or to find the self control it takes to choose ignore.

(=SK=)Zorak - May 28, 2011 12:00 AM (GMT)
Well while sometimes a majority may vote to have him unmuted, and at other times, a majority may vote to keep him muted, that at least shows a split in the opinion, which makes it seem reasonable that those who would have him muted could just use the ignore function. Win-Win-Win.

S']['U - May 28, 2011 12:32 AM (GMT)
There are plenty of people voting in the server that have no clue as to why Jerry is muted in the first place.
Frank the Tank obviously had no idea why I was objecting to the unmuting. Obviously he doesn't come here or he would know.
When people are naive, it means they won't always vote smart.

It was also apparant that "the misguided minions" had been attempting to unmute Garcia for quite some time....UNSUCCESSFULLY.

Scud's claim that "the community" has spoken is presumptuous.

Scud - May 28, 2011 12:46 AM (GMT)
Don't be mad cuz you're a 50-something year old man who can't find enough self respect/control to mute someone who's repeatedly disrespected you, enough so that you have no reason to expect he will change anytime soon.

You, sir, are a big cry baby who wants attention.

Not only that, you could not defend yourself and thus came running to these forums to have someone stronger than yourself defend you.

It would appear he's become quite the power and authority fetishist since then.

Why exactly should Jerry be banned? There was the incident of him TKing your APCs, which while certainly against the rules, doesn't warrant a ban; even the bans that admins do give out for brazen HM abuse are only temporary (and to punish TKing by muting makes little to no sense). 1 recent incident of TKing and 1 incident of moving blast walls in the heat of battle a year ago does not a ban warrant.

You make constant reference to Jerry's "verbal harassment", however it's not the job of the admins to protect your feelings. You have an individual mute button easily usable via your tab menu. As to things like death threats, while Jerry has made comments in poor taste regarding your heart attack, you also posted how you wished he would "die in a fire". And to claim that you and others have been "victimized" by Jerry's "boorish behavior" is utterly laughable - how a grown man can be so easily "victimized" by text on a screen is beyond comprehension (especially since Jerry has no idea who you are, where you live, phone number, employer, anything). Jerry has no power over you; you choose to over-react and lash out and act like the server should come to a standstill carry out whatever you think the appropriate punishment is.

You said in the civil disobedience thread that if we don't like the BR server rules, we should play elsewhere. Might I suggest that if you don't like the players at BR, you should play elsewhere?

LOL! ...because I told Scud to STFU????
Your comment is totally irrelevant to the subject.
There is no blind loyalty here except maybe from Garcia's unmuting minions, and no one is being censored...
...Unlike what happens on Pushbiscuit's forum where entire threads disappear if S@nd doesn't like them.

It wasn't just for TKing. It was for why he was TKing and the unreasonable extreme that he took it to.
He was also being a lying, arrogant, bullying asshole to nearly everyone, both on the server and in this forum.

Jerry did the exact same thing again..and he did it just to spite me.
... and then he blatantly lied about it.
He learned nothing from the first incident and I know he still hasn't.
It seems only way to make an impression on him is to ban him since muting is so easily thwarted by idiots like you who seem clueless about why he's being punished.

The power and authority fetishist comment was more directed at your "civil disobedience" thread, which is basically a plea for all members of the server to blindly follow any and all admin decisions. And Jerry, by being muted both on these forums and in game, certainty IS being censored - you just happen to agree with it this time. The right to free speech includes the right to offend.

The "extreme" Jerry took it to is irrelevant - it was under 15 recorded instances over a few hours. If this happened repeatedily day-to-day, then a short-term ban would be appropriate. As for moving defense, even if it was done with all the malicious intent in the world, it's still only 2 instances separated by 1 year. Not enough for a ban (imo). As for being a "lying, arrogant, bullying asshole" - once again, this comes down to wanting the admins to mute him because he was hurting your feelings. You have the option to ignore Jerry, either by muting him in-game or skipping over his posts on the forum. I know there's an option for these forums to allow people to have a "block" list - maybe the admins should enact such a function.

"WHO SAYS THE PUNISHMENT HAS TO FIT THE CRIME?" - Well, rules based on logic and consistency, for one. As for being Jerry's "minion", I have an overall negative opinion of him, but I think him and everyone else is entitled to fair and impartial treatment. Him, pois, ecko, tomato, you, me, any and all.

perrinoia - May 28, 2011 07:07 AM (GMT)
Wow... I just read this whole misguided thread, and feel like I need to clear a few things up...

#1, There are no written rules about using the chat feature of the game besides spam.

Unless you consider the MOTD (Message of the day) which reads, "Respect all players".

If the MOTD is a rule, punishable by ban, than we might as well shut the whole server down, because there is not a single player that respects all other players, and if they do, they probably don't respect themselves, therefor deserve punishment anyway...

Likewise, if it's punishable by global mute, you might as well disable function remoteSay.

#2, Jerry does not have minions, or fans or any of those words you use to belittle people who disagree with you... The only people I've seen that fit those descriptions are members of the {OZ} clan, who blindly stick up for each other over and over again, until someone respectable posts something that enlightens them to reality, such as when I posted Montro's alias list.

#3, Believe it or not, Stu has, in fact, shared enough information on these forums and in game, that someone could actually track him down and kill him if they were serious about doing so... The fact that he's still alive proves that Jerry wasn't serious about killing him. Likewise, I've shared way too much information with the community, and any one of you could easily track me down if you wanted... I'm still alive too, so, I guess no one who claimed to want to kill me was serious about it either.

#4, I've never been in favor of banning nor muting Jerry, I've never been insulted by any of the hilariously degrading things Jerry has said to or about me, even if what he said was true. However, this does not make me Jerry's slave... I choose to defend him, because I hate hypocracy. You cannot vote to mute someone for being a troll, and then troll them and think it's funny.

#5, Just because I defend Jerry, doesn't mean I like to see him trolling people... He's been the target of my ignore button on more than one occasion. But not wanting to read Jerry's messages is a personal preference. One which I would like to be in control of, and so would a lot of other people. Global mute is a horrible option, and I wish it was removed from the mod. I also wish slap, leetify, to the moon, strip weapons, and almost all of the other "annoy" admin options were removed as well, because they server absolutely no purpose other than to abuse admin.

#1. I don't think I have the same MOTD.

#3. Just admit I gave you that Hattori Hanzo sword already. Why do you think we haven;t heard from those who threatened to kill you? Duh, you sliced right through them!

#4. I was in favor of a mute over a ban. I still wanted Jerry to be able to play.

#5. I agree with this as well. I've told Jerry several times through Xfire that what he said isn't... well, nice.. But like Perr said, if anybody really has that much of a problem with a guy that to me (and apparently at least several others) isn't a problem at all, use ignore.
