Description: games to long

<!>bo'sdad - November 10, 2010 12:42 AM (GMT)
do you guys like the 40 min time setting in br ? we used to set time to 30 and everyone would vote it up. now I have heard several people complain the games are to long. and I also see people voteing to change the map at about 10 to 12 min before it would end. should we go back to the 30 min time setting ?

(=SK=)Zorak - November 10, 2010 08:24 AM (GMT)
I think it oughta be 30

perrinoia - November 10, 2010 02:11 PM (GMT)
People vote regardless of what you do. They bitch that it's too long, and vote to reduce it when they are losing. They bitch that it is too quick and vote to increase it when they are winning. They bitch about new maps and vote to change it to classic maps, then bitch about playing the same old maps over and over again and vote to change it to something fucking terrible.

Personally, I would just assume disable voting and tell em all to go fuck themselves.

should be 30 minutes

Keep them short around 30 minutes is good the only thing that bothers me is when there is still 15min left and more time is added. About the maps though we really do need some better ones. Think outdoor maps with the flag in front or easier to get to. A lot of the maps we play seem to have the flag in a crazy spot like way up on a tower on the back side of the base and you can't even get high enough to snipe the d. Also who makes these maps and puts 20+ base turrets all around that gets really annoying

skills, get some! :P

Bo just said everything I've always wanted to say :roller:

Ya 30 minutes is about right, and the maps man there's so many stalemate levels because ya the flag is hidden somewhere in a position where it cannot be sniped AND since crow took out the sensor jammer pack for builder armor, it is now incredibly difficult to attack those inside flags.. Which yeah.. I thought we needed more stalemates in BR :stab:

put more Broadside map rotations in and they'll quit bitching about the time :stab:

Builder should not have a sensor jammer pack. Teamwork is key to gettin down tough inside D

Scud - November 11, 2010 12:53 AM (GMT)
This is true zorak but seriously, only one chamelion at a time and that's really the only armor that can get inside a heavily fortified base and actually do damage to the flag covers. The process is very slow and once someone catches you they'll typically up their defense game to rout enemy chamelions.

So teamwork? Pretty much you're saying it takes a combination of trolls, titans, spawn rushers and other armors to beat down an enemys front D, their base D, then finally their flag D. That happens only with uneven teams and/or players who don't know how to set D. At least with outside flags the covers can be sniped. Inside, really the only hope is for either a pro chamelion or (until recently) a builder using a sensor jamming pack. And yes I know a builder can take FF walls and attack the enemy that way, but the process is slow, cumbersome and inefficient.

Why not instead of removing the SJP for builder we make motion sensors actually work? I've taken down defenses with the SJP and found motion sensors with their turrets, but they did not shoot at me.

Seriously, you can't dismiss the issue of stalemates (which really I think is more the symptom of all these non-annihilation maps where the flag is buried under 5 levels of base) by saying oh it just takes teamwork. And if teamwork is truly the answer to the question of chronic stalemates on BR, the time limit needs to be extended to about an hour and a half for each map.

ok, lets not jack this thread, the question was , are the games to long ? should we go back to the 30 min time setting ?

One chameleon can be active at a time, not in a base at a time. The teamwork aspect of two + chameleons in a base, would be to wait until the other dies, then rush in behind and continue the work done by the first.

I said teamwork, not a combination of every armor class. Even small groups using teamwork can be extremely effective: Builder and Builder, Builder and Titan. Both of those combo's if used right can devastate enemy D quickly. I completely disagree with you saying that builders using FF's is slow and ineffective. That's another place where teamwork comes in. The builder needs to be free to move D around effectively, which means you need somebody's help keeping the enemies off of you while you try.

And with the exception of a few maps, most have more than one entry to a base (especially now with the ghost pack). Teamwork would involve a few teams going in through different entryways. Not a bundle of noobs rushing the a single door.

Teamwork is the problem, and a horrible solution that always happens is that people make the mod more noob-friendly instead of trying to get people to actually use teamwork. Making the time limit longer would not solve the problem. People would just do the same thing they do now for a longer period of time.

I'd rather address the problem of stalemates by encouraging teamwork than encouraging mutilating the mod to make it "easier".

I vote change the standard to 30 mins....it can always be voted to add more time in the game if they're really feelin' it.

Well it seems like we have a consensus on it. Plus the shoot-off was much more engaging ;)
