Good sig phrases
I've seen a lot of great signatures ruined by crappy phraces like "OWNING IS WHAT I DO". It's stupid to sound like a complete n00b, even in your signature. I've also seen things like "The tortured soul of forgotten years". I mean, what the fuck is that? Stop trying to be so deep, Dan. I mean come on.
What you really need is to come up with a proffesional semi-comical phrase. One of my favorite ones is "The cynic from down the street". Most people know what cynic means so you're not trying to sound like a smartass, but not a complete n00b, either. You've also have that almost funny "from down the street" thing which serves the purpose of not only bringing a half smile to someone's face but to not make you seem like you're a poser. It tells people that you know you're just a regular guy.
The first thing I like to do is come up with a word that I want to use. A farily simple word, not too unknown and complicated, and not overused. I chose "vice".
Now I have to come up with the rest of the phrase using that word, let's see here:
"A vice is a terrible thing to waste" - nah, I just don't like it
"I've been thinking about my vices. . ." - No good, either
Hmm. . . having trouble figuring out something out? Well, the best thing to do is to look at your signature for ideas. I have a signature of a dead guy with a blood puddle around his head, gambling chips throughout the sig (as if the sig is the ground) and a few dollar bills in his hand. Oviously the guy messed with someone he shouldn't have. The whole signature implies that his vice of gambling lead him to be killed at the hands of some gangsters. So, for that I came up with:
"There are no harmless vices. . ."
I like it. There's really no comedy in there but it's a pretty serious signature that I could probobly use on some gaming forum like a GTA or Mafia forum.
That was my thinking process through finding the right words to use to pull my signature together. Don't try to stay too humble but don't get a big head.
