Not to sound overly skeptical, but I would put this in the "rumor" bin for a little while at least, as none of the larger TF community sites have reported anything. Of course that could all change in a matter of hours.
On a slightly similiar note, an article on YTV's site was interpreted by many people to indicate the coming of season 3 of TFA very shortly:

Beast Wars fans REJOICE! Unicron.com has learned, from independent & credible sources that Bob Forward and Larry DiTillio will make their triumphant return to Transformers storytelling in Transformers Animated Season 3! We have also learned a few other juicy tidbits! SPOILER WARNING AHEAD:
* Yes, there will be an Animated, Season 3 (no surprise.)
* Episodes have finished recording!
* Transformers Animated Season 3 will begin with a multi-part episode. Don’t know when it will air.
* For those of you who don’t know, Bob Forward and Larry DiTillio were the Executive Story Editors and mastermind storywriters largely responsible for the popularity of the Beast Wars cartoon series in the mid-late 90’s and they share credit on story and script. It is the first time they have worked together since Beast Wars!
* The episode title is: (are you ready for this sweetness???)
“PREDACONS RISING”
Although this is subject to change, we have been told, “it should be a surprise treat for all Beast Wars Fans.”

oh, and while that's definitely rumor, it wouldn't be surprising all that much. They would need a new 'gimmik' for the new season. What better thing than the introduction of the Predacon faction? They've already made a Wasp(inator) and a Blackarachnia. I would forsee BA forcing others to her 'formatting' and starting this up...

With Foreman & Ditillio at the helm as possible writers for some of the episodes, that is very feasable. Too bad we couldn't get a reinterpretation of the Original Predacons.

That too seems grasping to me, though I have no doubt that there will be a season three... they're hardly saying that with TFA being mentioned in a long string of other shows that may or may not be repeats.

But then again.... I have no doubt that if all the episodes are "recorded" for season 3, they could easily have them animated and ready to go by next month...heh....

One odd note is the mentioning of "Galvatron team" is stricken through and changed to "Cyclonus Team" on the tformers.com site referrence....

I am sooooooo not a fan of any version of Galvatron. Maybe if they made him a rampant drunk, that'd be fun. Of course, that's what I always say about RiD Megatron too. Rampant drunkenness! Like the captain from Project A-ko.
Love that Bob and Larry are getting back together to bring us the Predacons. Man, that's like a dream come true. I've been waiting to see how Starscream would finally get his revenge on Blackarachnia now that they're in a show together again. :P

Derrick Wyatt, the art director for Transformers Animated has revealed certain tidbits regarding the future of the Animated series.
Writing on his blog A Delightful Tedium, Mr. Wyatt says that the third season of the show has not been officially greenlit, "so it's still a ways off."
His comments are contrary to a recent rumor that the show will return in spring 2009.
The lead character designer for the series also comments on the recently revealed character Beachcomber. "Unfortunately his speaking part in the early part of season 3 got cut for time," Mr. Wyatt writes in a comment on his own blog. "[A]t this point, we don't know if he will even be in season 3 or not."
Mr. Wyatt also reveals that he created the character with Irineo Maramba and that the character's personality "was going to be a total hippy slacker type."
Furthermore, the comments were found in a post that provided a look at an early design of Animated Prowl back in 2003, the year that Mr. Wyatt began work on the television series.
He promises that the Prowl sidecar will be making an appearance again.
